I've decided I'm going to pick an author each month to try and get caught up on. For August I've decided on Cassandra Clare.

I'm going to try to reread the following :
Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare

And then finally read Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare

I wish I could decide in advance what I plan on reading. I try but there's always something new and shiny distracting me. And then I may pick up the planned book and decide I'm just not in the mood so move on to whatever mood I'm in at the moment.

message 1259: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments Just started This Savage Song. It's okay so far, hopefully it picks up. Right now it reminds me of the beginning of AGOS (ADSOM #2), which was also a bit slow.

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments I know what youre saying Karen. Most of the time, I 'announce' that I'll read this book next only to change it as I read the first chapter. That's why I have so many ebooks stored in my ibooks so I can easily see if I feel like reading a certain book next

I never seem to have much time to read during the week so I try to read shorter things or brainless material. So this week, I've been making my way through the stories of Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare

This weekend I'm reading an ARC and then a beta read right after by one of our favorite authors!! ;) ;) Woot woot!

Well, I think I will change my author this month, then, and wait to read Cassandra Clare in December, after that book is out :)

So I'm changing my August author to Libba Bray! The books I'm hoping to read by her:

The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray Lair of Dreams (The Diviners, #2) by Libba Bray A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray Beauty Queens by Libba Bray Going Bovine by Libba Bray

The Diviners would be a reread :) Excited, I love this author!

Caitlin (caitlinsiem) | 409 comments So I just finished HEX by Thomas Olde Heuvelt and it blew my mind. It's a fantastically creepy and interesting book. The book and author are Dutch and HEX was recently translated to English (Thomas was able to do a lot with this since he speaks English) and I'm so glad they did. I loved this chilling book. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a hair-raising read.

Next up, I'm rereading the Throne of Glass novellas (The Assassin's Blade). I'm going to start rereading that series (maybe not all back to back) so that I can get ready for Empire of Storms next month.

Catherine Bruno | 771 comments @jenny I love A Great and Terrible Beauty! I'm still reading The Sweet Far Thing, but for some reason that one hasn't grabbed me.

Brandon Sanderson is an AMAZING author. Although Steelheart was just okay for me, I'm now obsessed with The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson series. Epic!

I finished my reread of Slip (Slip, #1) by David Estes --so good!! Now I'm starting my reread of Grip (Slip, #2) by David Estes !!

Also finished The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian and it was an okay read. I did like it, but it wasn't what I was expecting--it really dragged on in certain spots, but at the same time, it was strangely addictive.

Started The Revenge of Seven (Lorien Legacies, #5) by Pittacus Lore really good so far!

message 1282: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Finished Steelheart. I can't write reviews since I'm still in Korea, with no computer, but I'll provide my thoughts here. I don't think it was the most original or groundbreaking of books (clichéd romance & character tropes, original premise was nothing new) but it displayed Sanderson's writing abilities. He writes action scenes really well, and the plot was complex and shrouded in mystery but never overly confusing. He also did a good job of developing the main character, whom I found likable and realistic as a teenager. I do think David was a bit too lucky/smart in dangerous situations- he should have died like, ten times and each time found a way out miraculously. Steelheart was really entertaining though, and I look forward to reading the sequel. 4 stars!

It's different from the first book. It is a cointunation but starts with different people etc but it comes together eventually with the first book. Then it all makes sense.

I finished The Revenge of Seven (Lorien Legacies, #5) by Pittacus Lore which I enjoyed, a nice quick action-packed read.

Also finished Opposition (Lux, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout which was just okay for me. I actually liked the world building and the crazy aliens and Sci-Fi, I just never connected with Daemon and Katy as a couple. Never really felt it, for some reason *shrugs*

Also read The Wedding (Lux, #5.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout which was kind of fun!

Next I'll be reading A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray and Secret Histories (Lorien Legacies The Lost Files, #4-6) by Pittacus Lore and The Fate of Ten (Lorien Legacies, #6) by Pittacus Lore
