Nothing can compare to the original books! I miss Rowling's writing so much, but was really happy to have the storyline. I really want to see the play!

Absolutely! It was great to have the storyline, and seeing the play would be awesome!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Nearly done Nil and I like it. I find the romance to be getting a bit excessive though.
Also seeing some really big parallels to the Maze Runner in relation to the mystery part of it, if anyone knows what I mean.

Lol good to know! Excessive romance means I'll skip it :)

I finished reading A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray and by the end, I really liked it! It didn't start off the best for me....it just felt too MODERN for historical fiction, and didn't seem authentic at first. It was odd since it was Libba Bray, she usually nails that, but she did say that she took a lot of liberties with it. After I got past that, I really enjoyed the story, it was a good creepy mystery with a lot of fun magic elements!

Started and almost finished The Game of Lives (The Mortality Doctrine, #3) by James Dashner which is a nice quick read! I'm actually enjoying this one a lot more than the second in the series.

Not sure what I'm reading after that...either This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1) by Victoria Schwab or rereading The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray

message 1362: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Just finished Nil, and that second half definitely got on my nerves.
The romance completely took over the story, instead of the mystery surrounding the island ,which I wanted answers to (answers I didn't get).
The ending was pretty unrealistic, very rushed, and REEKED of cheese.
Overall, it wasn't a bad read, but I do feel like it fell apart in the second half. Wondering if I should read the sequel now.

message 1363: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments That's interesting Jenny, I thought Game of Lives was the weakest in the series. But glad you're liking it. I don't know why, but to me, both Dashner series seem to get progressively worse as they go along.

I def don't like it as much as I liked the first one...at least so far. But I am enjoying it! A lot of it I'm just kind of going with it, whether its believable or not!

I read the first 2 books at the beach while on vacation so, for me, they were perfect beach reads. I don't mind the cheese at those times! ;)

Finished Three Sisters, Three Queens (The Tudor Court, #2) by Philippa Gregory , still working on An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1) by Sabaa Tahir on audio. Also about to finish up an ARC and then moving on to a beta-read of the ARC's sequel. :)

I need to pick A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas back up. It's taking me forever to read. I like it, but just not enamored with it. I keep getting distracted by other books.

I'm reading This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1) by Victoria Schwab and I'm absolutely loving it so far! The feel of it reminds me a bit of The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa

Totally worth the read! I just finished it, it was so good! It kind of made me think of a Romeo and Juliet type of story, but with a PA world where monsters have taken over, and not a lot of romance, more of a deep friendship really. Loved it! Brutal and amazing!

Now I'm moving on to Tozuki by Marija Jurić Zagorka and I have to finish A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin before I start with Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell and The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey
