Hahaha thanks! I enjoyed it - don't get me wrong. I think my expectations were too high or something. Still would recommend it though :)

No. I really enjoyed it, but I didn't think it was amazing... I only gave it four stars.

Ha Heidi! I'm a scifi addict and I'm obsessed with Mars and NASA, so The Martian is one of my top 10... maybe even top 5! Plus Mark Watney!! ;-D

I'm almost finished with my reread of Seveneves by Neal Stephenson on audio this time. I don't think I've listened to this long of a book this fast before. It's 32 hours. I like it even more the 2nd time. Maybe because of the audio, or maybe because it makes more sense this time now that I know what's happening.

Also started Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman last night. Soooo good!

Starting Bluescreen (Mirador, #1) by Dan Wells on Saturday to buddy read with Jenny and Jen!

I'm in a sci-fi phase right now for some reason. :) And apparently blue books!

I had to put A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2) by Sabaa Tahir down for now. I think A Court of Mist and Fury burnt me out on fantasy and I need to take a break from that genre for a few days.

Ashley Marie Karen, I've got Stephenson's Baroque Cycle at home. Have you read those?

Have you tried Snow Crash or Diamond Age? They're great!

Now I'm back to the Young Elites though I have a couple more library books coming in soon that might distract me again :)

TIme for an update! I've been a reading machine the last week or so!

For the #AYearathon Readathon (theme of short books):

The First Star to Fall (For Darkness Shows the Stars, #1.5) by Diana Peterfreund which I really liked. A prequel short story about how the Wild Poppy got started, takes place before Across a Star-Swept Sea (For Darkness Shows the Stars, #2) by Diana Peterfreund

Creation by Kat Mellon I really liked this one, too! It was a wonderful novella.

The Secret of the Old Clock (Nancy Drew, #1) by Carolyn Keene which was classic Nancy Drew--I haven't read Nancy Drew in a really long time! I liked this one, even though it was pretty old fashioned (published in 1930). That being said, Nancy herself was very modern and independent, and I LOVED that! I forgot how much I liked her :)

The Mermaid's Sister by Carrie Anne Noble and I really liked this one! Fun fantasy that almost felt like a fairy tale.

5 to 1 by Holly Bodger This was my favorite of the week, really beautiful writing!

Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie LOVED Peter Pan, its just a fun classic story, with a bittersweet ending.

I started reading Bluescreen (Mirador, #1) by Dan Wells for a buddy read, good so far!

Karen- exactly! I had no one to cheer for!

Elora- yeah, might want to skip it if you aren't hooked within the first quarter of the book or so. I made it to 40% :(

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments Not the biggest fan of Young Elites either. But I read the second book and found it better than the first book. BUT, I kept on forgetting who a certain character was. Guess the first book didn't really strike me

message 1530: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments I DNF'd The Young Elites too. I made it like 70 pages but just didn't feel like the main character fit how she was being described. She was suppose to be anti-heroine badass but I felt like she was sad and confused and well-meaning.

I liked Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky much more than I expected to and I think a lot of that is because of the strength of the narrator! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Heather (hersecretsmile) | 290 comments Since finishing It Ends With Us I have read/listened to Ghostly Echoes (Jackaby, #3) by William Ritter , The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) by Rick Riordan , The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5) by Rick Riordan and Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward . I really enjoyed the first three but not so much the last.

Now I'm reading Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward which I like a lot more than Lover Eternal.

I just finished it an hour ago and it was definitely my favorite so far! I really want to read Butch and Marissa's book but I'm going to wait a while so my expectations aren't too high. I have a feeling this one of the series I won't finish/will jump around on which books I'm going to read.

I bought a just released book in The Darkover series. Thunderlord A Darkover Novel by Marion Zimmer Bradley . I've been reading these books for several decades! I think it's been a few years since the last one was released. Reading it has been like connecting with a very old, dear friend that you lost contact with.

I've been super stressed with work this past week, so it's been nice to pop into the Darkover world where I already know everything there is to know about the world and the people in it, so it's an easy, comfortable read. :)

Rham (Reads and Wanders) (rhamichu) | 115 comments Finished Empire of Storms last night. Aaahhhhhh. I was so stressed all throughout reading it lol I swear I thought it was going to be the death of me :)))) I'll reread it when my copy arrives.
