I definitely have scarecrow in the book I'm reading at the moment. Other than that there's the rather common blood, bone, shadows, etc.

Hubby is away to a meeting shortly, so I should be able to get stuck in and read a decent amount then, lol.

It got too much for me so I looked up who Andrea Yates was. She was a real life Houston woman who killed three of her five children. Awful. That's going to be pretty tricky to find in a fiction book, I'm guessing.

Space in the Heart wasn't bad, tbh. I've no idea how it got onto my kindle, but there it was. :)

and even better: when I first looked it up on GR it was there as 400 pages. curses! that's the worst. BUT.... the kindle ed is 402! ka-ching!

I'd never heard of her either. She's not really someone who'd pop up in fantasy/sci-fi or historical fiction I'm guessing :)

I went to see the new Spider-Man movie last night & they talked about Black Dahlia (who I had never heard of before this challenge) several times 😅

Almost half-way through my paranormal book.

What did you think of Secrets of a Summer Night? It was the book that got me into historical romances and I ending devouring the series (although I still have the last one to go)

I really enjoyed it! I'm going to enjoy reading the other 3 books :-) Bringing down Westcliff is going to be fun :-p

I have to admit though, I've read The Ravenels first. I think that series may be written a tad better hehe. At the time, I found the first book without knowing it was a follow-up series to the Wallflowers - it was the first time I'd encountered the author so I had no clue.

I haven’t read The Ravenels yet, but have started The Hathaway’s, which is also a follow-up series to The Wallflowers. I’ll have to look at The Ravenels series then too :D

Reading Ravenels make me want to reread Wallflowers. I love Lisa Kleypas. At least her historicals. I've tried her contemporary, but it ended with me dnf-ing first book and no wish to try others in series. I'll stick with historicals :)

Anything special we need? If no letter is needed I can try with Karen's suggestion for Michael Myers (I'm skipping a book in series for that *sad face*)

I didn't even know she wrote contemporary but I think I might just stick to the historicals as well. Those she does really well :-)

We could use another U from the looks of it, so if you have something for that...?

Of course Michael Myers would be nice as it gives us 10 extra points, but the U is necessary to complete the spell-out, besides, if we do have another U in the works by someone, an extra is never wrong since it's one of the more difficult letters.

The Night Huntress is quite okay, unless it gets much worse I'll probably end up giving it three stars.

I hope we get to know the next word early on Thursday. We're leaving to our summer cottage and will stay there about a week, depending somewhat on the weather, which has been abysmal. I'll take my iPad, but it works only with wifi, which we don't have there, so I can't load any Overdrive books while there. I got a memoir book just in case we get terracotta.

Mmh, I rated the first one 3 stars as well. And by the end, I came to enjoy the side series much more than the original haha. Vlad is my fave :-) Though you may not actually encounter him in the first book. I think he makes his first appearance in book 3?
