CLARIFICATION:
*For audio books*: The print edition must be more than 100 pages long.
*For graphic novels*: must be more than 150 pages long.

For tasks like “a book published in August” or “a book with a cover that is more than 50% brown” it depends on the exact edition of the book you are reading so please make sure you add the correct version of the book to your shelf!
If the edition you are reading was published in January but some other edition was published in August then your book DOES NOT fulfil the task of “a book published in August”.

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Okay. I just finished Bliss, but I'm going to change it to task 8. A book with chocolate/sweets on the cover instead of 9. A book with a baking scene which would be A Dash of Magic which I'm reading right now

And for the other ones (that are not either audio or graphic) they have to be over 100 pages, right?

message 105: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments Just to let y’all know, I’m also currently reading The Sea of Monsters for Task 12: a book with a cover that is 50% brown.

message 106: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments I had some things to do but now I continue with Under the Egg and then I'll read Heidi and see where that goes. If I finish both of them today we will have 5 points as Team 2 has. We have to beat them!

message 107: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Yes, we do! I finished A Dash of Magic and now I'm reading Bite-Sized Magic which I'm not sure what task it works for, but I will see at the end.

message 108: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Let's try to complete the categories because then we get extra points

message 109: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Guys, I was thinking of something: After we finish a book we should write here about the other tasks that the book fulfills.

For example, the first book I read was Wishtree for the Goodreads nominee task (46), but it fulfills other tasks as well (if somebody else wants to read it):
-task 4 (A book with a character whose first name is also a flower): One of the characters has the name RosePetal);
-task 15 (A book with a protagonist who loves/likes animals): The protagonist is an oak tree named Red and he loves animals and animals love him as well, because they live inside him and they communicate a lot as a family.
-task 18 (A book with a character that can fly): The second character is a crow named Bongo and she is Red's best friend.
-task 42 (A book with a character who moves to a new home/school): Samar is a Muslim human girl that just moved in a new home (where Red is) with her family and also to a new school.

Current-Read: Under the Egg. What tasks it fulfills until now:
-task 30: A book with a protagonist who is a sleuth/detective;
-task 39: A book with a protagonist who has an absentee dad;
-task 42: A book with a character who moves to a new home/school.

I already noted them there, but I thought that nobody saw.

Zaiyah, I can't find the "strike" option on our document. Can you help me, please? Or explain where I can find it.

message 115: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Sure, sure!

message 116: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) You highlight it, and then it's command, shift, X. I like memorizing keyboard shortcuts

message 117: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) We should try to finish categories 1, 2 or 7 because we have a head start on them already, but we can read from the other ones at the same time as well so we have somewhere to go from. How does that sound?

message 118: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Also, I just finished Under the Egg by Laura Marx Fitzgerald by Laura Marx Fitzgerald.

It covers a few categories:
-task 30 (A book with a protagonist who is a sleuth/detective);
-task 39 (A book with a protagonist who has an absentee dad);
-task 42 (A book with a character who moves to a new home/school).

It's 3:31 a.m. here and this book was sooo good that I lost all the need for sleep. I need to read more!

message 119: by Dana (last edited Aug 04, 2019 03:19AM) (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Guys!! We better hurry up, because Team Coraline has 9 points already and they have only 3 more books to read in the first category until they get 5 extra points!!

I am halfway into Heidi.

message 120: by Dhriya (new)

Dhriya | 40 comments Hey everyone! So I finished my first book (finally!) for task 27. I've started City of Ghosts for task 7.

message 121: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Great! I finished my 3rd book, Heidi for task 29 (a character who gets grounded).

message 122: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Guys! We are still 2 books behind Team 2, and if they finish a category, we are doomed! We all have to organize in here and try to decide what books to read next so we can finish a category also!

So categories 2 and 5 have 2 books finished each. So let's try and focus on these.

In Category 2 we have to read tasks 10,11,12,13 and 14.
In Category 5 we have to read tasks 31,32,33,34 and 35.

Can we do it? What can everyone read for these?

message 123: by Dhriya (new)

Dhriya | 40 comments I can read the book for task 34

message 124: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments I will go to the library tomorrow and borrow a few books to read.

So based on our Google Docs spreadsheet for the second category, Zaiyah wants to read task 11 (It wasn't me), Jessica wants to read "The sea of monsters" for task 12, Shravani - A wrinkle in time - for task 13, Elizabeth "11 birthdays" for task 10 and "A tale dark and grimm" for 14, so I thought of trying to read something for task 10 (a book with a birthday scene) if that's okay with you all. If we read these, we can finish a category and get 5 additional points.

message 125: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Shravani wrote: "I can read the book for task 34"

That's great!

message 126: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments And for the 5th category:
Shravani can read "Five on a treasure island" for task 34;
Zaiyah can read "Up for air" for task 35;
Jessica can read "The Mark for Athena" for task 31;

And me and Elizabeth can find something for tasks 32 and 33.

message 127: by Dana (last edited Aug 04, 2019 09:23AM) (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Sorry if I put pressure or something, but I really think that we can win together! I love this team and I have faith that we can beat everyone, even if Team Coraline is ahead. We can do this if we organize! :*

message 128: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments And I also have another idea as well: if you are currently reading or starting something and at the end it fulfils for a challenge in either categories 2 or 5, you/we can put it in one of those so we can finish them faster.

What do you say about that? Would that be okay? We can help each other because we are a team, and a really great one! So let's do this!

message 129: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Good plan! Sorry, I haven't been on here all day but I just finished Bite-Sized Magic which works for 33. A book with a character who uses a magnifying glass or 41. A book that is the last in a series

message 130: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I should do the one in category 5, shouldn't I?

message 131: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I would need to go to the library, but both Up for Air and It Wasn't Me are ready! i'll see if I can go and then I'll read them as fast as I can. We can do this, team!!!

message 132: by zaiyah (last edited Aug 04, 2019 05:24PM) (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I started reading Up for Air just now, I'll update when finished!

Is Team Alice Queensmeadow actually not reading anything, or are they just not adding it to the spreadsheet?

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Zaiyah wrote: "I should do the one in category 5, shouldn't I?"

I was thinking about the same thing. Maybe they will add it later so that they can surprise us, who knows? :)))

message 135: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Jessica, I hope you won’t mind, but I want to read The Bad beginning by Lemony Snicket for a book published in the 90’s. I just took it from the library. So we can finish also the second category.

message 136: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments yah, that’s totally fine. i also want to apologize for not being on here much, and i also wanted to let y’all know the past couple days i haven’t had much reading time at all. but i promise I’m still making my way through the books, and on wednesday i’ll be able to be back to speed-reading them.

message 137: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Hey, it’s okay! Everyone reads in their own pace. We are still a great team and we can definitely win! If we concentrate to complete categories 2 and 5 we can have 10 additional points and beat team 2. 💪🏻

message 138: by jessica (new)

jessica (abookishjess) | 684 comments 👌🏼🙌🏼 we’ve definitely got this.

message 139: by Dhriya (new)

Dhriya | 40 comments I finished the book for task 34. I was wondering if I could start with the book for task 14 if it's ok with you all?

message 140: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Sounds good! I finished Up for Air and now we only need one more in category 5. I'm reading It Wasn't Me for task 11 now

message 141: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Just kidding, we need two more

message 142: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Shravani wrote: "I finished the book for task 34. I was wondering if I could start with the book for task 14 if it's ok with you all?"

Of course! I'm back home now and I want to continue reading Comoara vikingilor (Detectivii Timpului, #1) by Fabian Lenk (The viking's treasure) and see in which category it fits.

Also, I started reading Ollie Oxley and the Ghost The Search for Lost Gold by Lisa Schmid today and it fits multiple tasks. I can't wait to finish these and then read The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket and maybe we will finish at least one category.

message 143: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Team 2 has one more book for the first category and then they'll get 5 additional points (that means they'll have 18 points). We have to hurry and stay at least behind them if not in front of them. I still think we can beat them! :)) I am very faithful!

message 144: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) I just finished It Wasn't Me and I think it works for task 11 or task 31. I should do 31 because it's in category 5, right?

message 145: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Is anyone reading anything that fits 32?

message 146: by zaiyah (new)

zaiyah (skellyzelly) Now I'm reading Halfway Normal and I think it might work for task 6 and I thought it would work for task 37, but now I'm not quite so sure, so we need to find another one for that

message 147: by Dhriya (new)

Dhriya | 40 comments Zaiyah wrote: "Is anyone reading anything that fits 32?"
Me! I think Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone fits into that task

message 148: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Zaiyah wrote: "Is anyone reading anything that fits 32?"

I read Ollie Oxley and the Ghost and I'm hoping that this one will fit the task 32. I'll see when I'll finish it. I'm 32% into the book and it goes fast.

message 149: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Shravani wrote: "Zaiyah wrote: "Is anyone reading anything that fits 32?"

It says "2 characters who break into 2 or more places..." and in the first Harry Potter books there are 3 characters that do this: Harry, Ron and Hermione.

message 150: by Dana (new)

Dana Cristiana (silvermoon1923) | 313 comments Ollie Oxley and the Ghost The Search for Lost Gold by Lisa Schmid already had a scene where the 2 characters were in a place they weren't suppossed to be. One more, and task 32 is ours.
