Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Who, in their right mind, puts ketchup on tamales? As a New Mexican, I find the idea really, really gross. Red Chile sauce maybe, but ketchup? Ewewewewew.

message 52: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments well, this really, really gross mexican does like to eat her tamales w/ketchup. so it looks like y'all guessed incorrectly. please try again.

1- have been playing softball since high school & currently still playing.

3- i put pop rocks (candy) in my dogs mouth.

message 53: by Preston, Moderator (last edited Jan 16, 2015 02:00PM) (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Anyone who eats tamales with ketchup would feed their dogs pop rocks. So I say 1. is a lie despite all the indications of your athleticism and love of baseball.

message 54: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments preston, you are correct. #1 is a lie. i'm not currectly playing and i didn't play in high school, only in rec leagues.

message 55: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments I hope you were over 18 when you committed this crime of cruelty to animals by feeding your dog pop rocks so they could send you to jail.

I'm going to pass and to choose who goes next I'm going to flip a coin. Heads is Averin and Tails is Absinthe and if it's neither then it's Roger.

Heads! Averin goes next.

message 56: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments Don't know about jail...maybe juvi. I was around 9.

message 57: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments 1. My favorite flowers are chrysanthemums.
2. My first car was a 1968 Impala.
3. I'd rather do laundry than clean house.

message 58: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments 3.

message 59: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Almost certainly 3.

message 60: by Absinthe (new)

Absinthe 3?

message 61: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments I say número 2.

message 62: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments
The 1968 Chevrolet Impala appeared in the Zack/Oliver Frey movie The Sugar-Haters, starring himself, his younger brother and sister. The car belonged to his dad, but Oliver passed his Swiss driving test in it. Great car!!!

message 63: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments Mine was a four door, very uncool, but cheap at $900 on the Mile Of Cars in National City.

Everyone was wrong. I hate mums; nasty-smelling, and they always die. I adore the fragrant happiness delivered by the Dianthus family, carnations, sweet williams, pinks.

And I hate cleaning house. Now what?

message 64: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments You go again, chica.

Averin | 1962 comments 1.I'm as busy as a minister on Plough Sunday.
2. I have three college degrees and use none of them.
3. I'm a native California but lived in four other states.

message 67: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments 2.

message 68: by Absinthe (new)

Absinthe 1

message 69: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments 3

message 70: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 13 comments I gotta believe that 2 is a lie. There's almost ALWAYS something in what you learn that you end up using. It seems to me that the more useless and obscure that a piece of knowledge is, the more likely it will resurface sometime.

message 71: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments 2 is the lie.

message 72: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Seems like Preston was the first correct but I wonder how good a liar Stephen is… ;-)) ??

message 73: by Stephen (last edited Jan 22, 2015 01:30AM) (new)

Stephen (havan) | 13 comments Well... It's not really my turn but we used to play this game at work and I think I have some good ones...

1) I once had a pet crow. (Yes, it followed me home)
2) I've twice survived terrorist attacks -- but been reported dead (kinda sorta) both times
3) I actually can't stand chocolate. It's not an allergy thing. I just don't like it.

message 74: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Hmmmm, difficult options. No one anywhere in the world dislikes chocolate, but it's such a ridiculous assertion that I think it might actually be true :-)

So:

2)

message 75: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 13 comments Not sure how long to let this one remain so...

(view spoiler)

message 76: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments hi, stephen! i wasn't sure how to explain it properly, so i went ahead and copied what preston wrote:
In this game, you will have to provide three statements about yourself. Two of them must be true and another one a lie. The next person will have to guess which is the lie. The first person to guess correctly gets to give his/her three statements.

With this game, if you post two truths and a lie, it is important to check back often so you can tell us whether a response from players is correct or not.

example:

1. I live in a pink house.
2. I set out the trash on thursdays.
3. I went to high school in Hawaii.

first guess: #3
I reply: no
second guess: 1
I reply: yes

The one who guessed #1 was the lie is the next person to list two truths and a lie about themselves.
--------------------------------------------------------

i didn't click on the spoiler *cross my heart* :) so i'm gonna say: #1 is a lie. i mean, chocolate is the best thing evah! :)

message 77: by Stephen (last edited Jan 22, 2015 08:12PM) (new)

Stephen (havan) | 13 comments Roger guessed that 2 was the lie. No.

I KNOW that you didn't click on the spoiler if you're guessing that #1 is the lie. No.

Actually # 3 is the lie. I L O V E Chocolate. Who doesn't?

If it's my turn again...

1) I grew up in a pink house.

2) I've kissed three of the original Village People.

3) I once appeared on stage "in drag" as Heidi LaPinga

OK now which one's the lie?

message 78: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 3) ?

message 79: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments I guess 3 is the lie.

message 80: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Is that a case of Great Minds think alike…?

message 81: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments No, I cheated. I didn't know the answer so I looked over your shoulder and copied it off your paper.

message 82: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Ha ha! I thought this was a game about lying, not cheating :-)

message 83: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments You always have to have the last word you…you…you last worder!

message 84: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments ;-))

message 85: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 13 comments Roger was the first one correct. I've never done drag. I have met the Village People a number of times though a French friend in the music business and they're a kissy bunch. And much to my chagrin, the house I grew up in was pink. My dad liked to say salmon, but it was pink.

message 86: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I had a buff-colored house in Nigeria once, but never ever a pink one.

1) I drove my first car on the road aged 9
2) I won a school boxing championship
3) Most of my best friends have been Jews

message 87: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1962 comments No. 1, you were probably 8.

message 88: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 1) is true. I drove my father's Morris Minor Traveller on the service road of Ikeja Airport, Lagos when I was just 9. He was right next to me and there were almost never any other vehicles on the road.

message 89: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 3) is more of a white lie than a full-blown horror-lie. At Highgate Anthony Goldstaub and Julian Sabbath, after Ian Pleeth and Denis Moore and Bob Mazzer (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Underground-B...) But I did have a few more good friends who were not Jewish.

2) I was forced to box at school by the bullying head of house sports and won a championship award for being the only boxer in the annual inter-house boxing championships to be knocked out fifteen seconds into round-1 of my first bout.

I guess that means Preston guessed correctly. You could say that day was indeed a Boxing Day.

message 90: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments When you went to Stargate School I don't remember you boxing. I don't think you fought much except maybe on Boxing Day at the railroad terminus but I don't remember that…of course I don't remember much at all. Are you you sure you're not thinking of Richard from your book A Life Apart?

#3 Lets see there was I.P. then there was…well not a lot of Old Cholmeleians nor those who are currrents but a few raisins...not real best friends. You try to claim this #3 is true but I don't get it. Marc Chagall was not your best friend.

message 91: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Not Marc, but what about Max Beckman and Wassily Kandinsky?

message 92: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Then of course there was Benjamin Disraeli and Max Beerbohm they were very close friends with you were they not?

message 93: by Roger (last edited Jan 23, 2015 08:52AM) (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Max… dear Max, what can I say? And Ben was such a lot of fun, especially that trick he did with Cream and Disraeli Gears.

message 94: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments So I guess I was wrong this proves all your best friends were Jewish. Oh well I lose again.

message 95: by Absinthe (new)

Absinthe what...what's happening

message 96: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments 1. I have an Aunt name Lulubelle but I just use Aunt Lou.
2. I have a nephew who is never called by his first name at school or by anyone I know.
3. I have an uncle and cousin with the same name as mine.

message 97: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments i'll go w/#2. just cus it's the same for my son (i know it makes no sense to pick something that is true in my case to be a lie for someone else *shrugs* ;-P ) plus i'm very bad at doing that myself: calling people by everything, but their given name. right, pres? :)

message 98: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Hmmmm… 1) ???

message 99: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Roger Wins!

His prize is a can of Writer's Polish and the chance to try to fool us with his two truths and a lie.

message 100: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I only accept branded Writer's Polish :-)

1) The second novel I wrote (unpublished) was about stripping off in public.
2) A crocodile lived at the bottom of the garden (compound / backyard) of one of my parents' homes
3) I like to cook: I won my first cookery competition aged 16.
