✧Sarah Bora✧ (bibliophagist1621) The fault in our stars

sorry not sorry
I guess you could add looking for Alaska too but it wasn't as disappointing because I had already been disappointed by fault in our stars.......

Roger Little (kaladincosmere) | 4 comments Kept hearing all about how the Ember in the Ashes series was so great. While I managed to get through the first 3 a year ago, it was a painful struggle. And now that I've spent a year reading all the Sanderson Cosmere books, trying to read the 4th Ashes book that just came out has been nothing short of impossible and agonizing.

Yes! I hated it too, it was literally a worse version of the Selection

Capri (caprisierra) | 28 comments Shatter Me series. I really enjoyed the books at the time until I processed it a week later. Afterwards the main characters just felt like whiny annoying teenagers

I agree. I could not even complete the first book.

Lynn (ftbooklover) Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu by Marie Lu. The first two books in the Legend series were so good, but I just couldn't get through the third one.

Hahaha I literally had the exact same experience. Honestly though, the series finale was a letdown to say the least. They left so many threads untied. It's like Mafi couldn't be bothered.

Think she relied too heavily on Kenji's character throughout the series to do all the work for her. i.e. provide comic relief, give introspective life lessons to literally everyone, blatantly force character development amongst other characters by telling them they're being a really sh*t unit, use his lack of a filter to lazily expel information significant to the plot etc. Also, felt like Mafi was really doing the most with all the analogies, metaphors, and colourful imagery.

Furthermore, we didn’t even get a snapshot at what the future held for any of the characters. Bro we didn’t even get a real wedding. After everything - nothing. Literally nothing. They dug some trenches, made a path for cars to travel on, and J cried over a dog before handing it over to Warner. Even the last line was a killer. I don’t give a sh*t if Warner is happy or not. F*ck him. I care about Juliette. I wanted to know of her plans for the future in terms of the world as well as for herself. She seems like the kinda gal who’d promote sustainability, free education, gun control laws, create a whole new healthcare system, and abolish animal cruelty - all while raising a family with Warner by her side and Kenji at her beck and call. THIS is the wholesome ending I wanted. Not countless loose ends and epiphanies that amount to nothing. We deserved better.

Maisy Carter (maisycarter) Looking for Alaska by John Green. I liked the first part but I was really disappointed by the end. I read it when I was 13 and then again last year but I just can’t picture the characters or get into the world at all :(

harry potter and the heros of olympus

message 114: by margot (new)

margot (margotwehrle) | 48 comments Hush Hush. I hate this book more then I hate Twilight. I thought it was going to be this fun, slightly stupid paranormal romance. Instead it was incredibly problematic. In every single way. The female heroine is practically a doll who gets manipulated countless times, and Patch, the male lead, is a straight-up stalker.

message 115: by adiL (new)

adiL The first acotar book 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have heard so much about it and many people worshipped it, but it was tedious (at least the first 3/4) and disappointing. They say that the second one is better but I just cannot force myself to start it

I loved the first 3 books and I think I shouldn't have read the fourth book:(
I started to really dislike the main character:(

I recently read Before We Go Extinct by Karen Rivers and I didn't love that book much either. I didn't think it was a waste of time because it was pretty short and I finished it in a couple of hours, but it was okay. I think I gave it 4 stars? I am a simple consumer, though. I don't know what You Are Everything is about, but I will admit the content matter of Before We Go Extinct was pretty serious (it is about our main character getting over his best friend's suicide). If you wanna give another book of her's a try, I recommend this one, but don't think it is going to be huge or life changing or anything like that.

message 147: by marcela (new)

marcela (marcelacvassallo) thousand boy kisses. i really thought it was going to be super sweet but it turns out to be a history by a angry boy who doesn't recognize the efforts of his father and have no appreciation for his family (mother and brother). the only thing that i liked was poppy and how kind and mature she was
