For the fourth book are you talking about the one by Tomi Adeyemi??? Because I am reading that book right now and let me tell you, I was getting those vibes, but I was hoping it was going to get better. Sounds like it might not, lol

Yup! That's the one, I really enjoyed the first book "Children of Blood and Bone" but the second was hard to finish. I literally had to force myself to keep reading.

Crystal Strong | 10 comments I might get a lot of hate for this but it's:
An ember in the ashes series.
I made a mistake of blindly trusting some YouTubers and many other reviewers. I understand, we all have our own opinions and interests, but clearly I should have had a sample first and then proceeded to buy till The Reaper at the gates. I'm still in the second part and it's torturous to go on.

I don't understand why some people love this book. There is nothing good or worth remembering in it.

I disagree because I happened to like divergent @Karro. @Porg no way we talk about Allegiant. I just finished it and my head hurts.

Recently read and so disappointing!!

message 167: by iminyourwallllls (new)

iminyourwallllls | 71 comments This one's kinda obscure, but Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy was hands down the most predictable thing I've ever read, complete with flat characters and tons of purple prose. I'd loved the authors other books but this was a huge disappointment.

Lou's gotta be the most annoying mc I ever read!
And Naomi Noavk's Deadly Education. Couldn't get past the first chapter. The writing style isn't for me

message 171: by Elena (new)

Elena The Last Magician. I had really expected to like it, and it ended up disappointing me so much. Biggest case of Mary Sue I've ever seen. Also, the story was plain af. Super boring and dragged on unnecessarily.

message 172: by ♥ Morgan (new)

♥ Morgan | 4 comments The Wrath and the Dawn, the mc got on my nerves and I dnf'd it :(
I was hoping it would be a lot better

message 173: by [deleted user] (new)

Probably the Cursed child cause its basically a bad fan fiction and the ballad of song birds and snakes cause that ending sucked 🤢

I think some of these books were only meant to be read at the time they were cool by a specific age group because revisiting or reading them now will take away the magic our innocence and youthful wonder created.

Skelly | 23 comments The Girl Missing series by Sophie McKenzie. Couldn’t stand them. Loads of mistakes, clearly forgot some of the things that were said in the first book which she obviously forgot in the second/third book.
Worst book I have ever read. I swore to myself to never by another Sophie McKenzie book ever again.

You may think that’s over the top but it wasn’t just 1 book, it was the whole series!

message 199: by [deleted user] (new)

I loved Divergent until all the romance kicked in. I don't know about y'all, but too much romance in a non-romance book is a little frustrating. It just wasn't what I thought it would be.🙁

message 200: by Ainsley (new)

Ainsley | 15 comments A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass

I was really excited when I saw the cover, and after reading The Siren and The Selection series I guess my expectations were too high. If it was just Annika’s point of view I think I would have liked the book better. The male MC was kind of boring to me.
(I still love Kiera Cass though)
