That is correct! :) Good job."
Well done Kris!
On a side note, I love the age I live in. Read Kris's guess, realised the book sounded interesting, bought it on my kindle, and have now read it.

Now that's a good story. Btw, I totally needed the latest clue. :)

I wasn't able to get it from the first clue and I've read the book recently. The first clue wasn't specific enough for me to get it.
Orig. clue Former student takes over school in order to thwart evil-doers.
The problems for me were describing the main character as a former student made me think of someone who had graduated from the school and was older. Next, describing the building simply as a school made me think it was an in-use school, not an abandoned one.
I think you also described the MC as a girl at one point. That didn't narrow it down much for me because girl can be used for someone as old as their twenties, so I was still thinking of someone too old.
I missed seeing the final revised clue, so I don't know if that would have put me on track or not.
What would have worked for me as a clue? Maybe something like this:
Pre-teen former student takes over abandoned school to thwart evil-doers.
Of course, that might be too obvious. Hard to tell in retrospect. It just goes to show how difficult it can be to come up with a clue that's specific enough without being too easy.

1) I added 'a' so you might be able to deduce it wasn't *her* school.
2) Added gender
3) Added brother
4) Added lost the school
5) Gives it back
6) Headache
re: "student": I didn't have an easy way to talk about MC, without giving away her gender (which I thought was going to really give it up), or her age (also a big clue). "Scavenger" would've given up the genre pretty quick.
"Former" was to subtly clue in regards to Post Apocalypse (vs. just tell; and really narrow it down), and also to subtly misdirect people into thinking older (which worked).
The last couple of edits were in t the 'current unguessed' posts, which have been deleted.
