Seem like they shouldn’t be too hard - I feel like there are a lot of books with red covers!

I’ve got a couple that count for that and many with weapons on the cover, a couple with poison and initials in JOKER.

I didn't care for this one as much as a previous book of his that I had read. I read The Girl Next Door and that was a true crime book and I thought it was well written. Jack Ketchum isa pretty intense writer and that worked for The Girl Next Door.

Joyride was splatterpunk and while I am fine reading graphic scenes, I didn't think this had much of a story to back it up. I thought the premise sounded good; it just didn't work for me.

Girl Next Door is what I read as well.

I’ve not heard of splatterpunk before but I gather the meaning from the name. Will you read anything by him again?

I want to apologize. I made a mistake. I finished a book by T J Klune for Joker and it doesn’t work. 🤦‍♀️

I'm still reading for Joker, so you have plenty of time to find something else.

I'm not sure if I will read another book if it is in that splatterpunk genre. I had never heard the term before I read the book. I will probably try one more by that author. One good, one bad, I need a tiebreaker.

I still have to finish my weapon on cover book so I’m not worried about the delay either.

I finished up my tasks, but don't hurry of you guys need time. I have plenty of other challenges to work on. Like both of you I am sure :)

All of my books are done as well but no pressure there either.

I posted my second book and will have the 3rd one done tonight to post tomorrow. I have not started on the color cover though.

Do you want one of us to cover the color cover? I think I have a couple that will work. Or we can wait-it’s up to you.

I work all weekend until late Sunday afternoon. I can help then if it is still needed :)

I am going with for the cover color task even though it wasn't one of the books I had planned for it. But it will be a quick read so I will be done with it this morning some time.
And Christine - I think it is your turn to pick the clown so if you want to let us know your choice we can post to the prisoner drop off later today.

My book has been added so we can post to the prisoner drop off once we make a selection. Thanks Shaw for the color task help (and thanks Christine for the offer) 😊

Not yet-I was waiting for all of us to vote or for the next clown pick. But I guess I can just post us as finished and we can let Carrie pick the next few times if she doesn’t agree.

It's all good- the rotation got a bit confusing there so it should be easier to just pick one when whoever posts the completion. But if there’s a particular clown that anyone would like just throw it out there and it can be picked instead.

Stitches

Stitches is a birthday clown who is late to a birthday party, where he was hired to entertain some 10-year-olds. One of the children ties his shoelaces together in a prank leading to his death. A group of clowns use his clown egg to perform a ritual resulting in Stitches returning to life six years later. He is determined to exact revenge on the teenagers who contributed to his death.


Complete the following tasks
Arm 1: Read a chain of 3 books with 10 intact in the page count (example 210 pages or 108 pages)
Arm 2: Read a chain of 3 books with a teenage MC
Leg 1: Read a chain of 3 books where someone celebrates a birthday
Leg 2: Read a chain of 3 books with the author's initials in STITCHES

I've got several for author's name and intact 10 and at least one for birthday. I think I've got one for teenage MC even though those are not my fav books.

This set seems a bit tougher than the last. I have 1 for the teenage MC. I'll have to browse for options for the other ones.

That birthday one is a really good challenging task.

I have one for teen MC and one for Birthday for sure. And the author's initials. I'm sure I can find one for 10 in the page number. I must have one somewhere.

I am sure I have others with a teenage character if needed.

LOL, you guys don't have to be chatty. I haven't been getting as many check-ins. So I looked and noticed that some people are missing. I am trying to determine how many & if I need to combine teams.

I should be finished with my last Stitches book by the end of this week. I have a bunch of audiobooks on Audible + that expire at the end of the month so I wanted to get some of those finished first.

Done. I had the hardest time finding a book for initials in Stitches. You would think that would be easy. at least I thought it would be easy.

How are you doing Carrie? Looks like you are close as well :) No pressure.

That combo of letters was tricky.
Carrie-I do have a couple more that fit the initials and one more for the 10 intact if you need me to take one.

Yay! I swear I think that last one was the hardest one yet. I had a tough time with that one.

Nice! Agreed - it didn't seem too bad but then those tasks were some really challenging ones.

So you guys are saying that my challenge is....challenging? That's what I like to hear. Maybe you should choose a really fun clown next time. One with the letter H (and is plural) is really fun! A whole different type of challenge...

Pennywise (IT)


IT is a shapeshifting creature from the species known as Deadlights. IT arrived on Earth in an event similar to an asteroid impact landing in Derry, Maine. Once people settled here, IT adopted a 25-27 year hibernation, waking to kill and eat.

Its true form seems to be a female spider but it can morph into any human animal, nonhuman animal or object, and any combination thereof. There are benefits to this ability because IT can manipulate its targets by appearing as loved ones to lure them into traps or as their worst fears. It's favorite form is that of a clown named "Pennywise" because small children love clowns. At the same time, many people fear clowns.

IT feeds on humans but prefers children as they are easier to scare and manipulate. According to the creature, frightened flesh tastes better and uses fear to "salt the meat".

To capture IT, he must be in his clown form or he will trick you. You must force him into his clown form BEFORE you chain him up. Spell out CLOWN. Then complete the chains below.
