Kirsty | 5 comments Greetings :-) I'm Kirsty, from South Africa. I absolutely adore reading, pretty much anything, but at the moment I would have to say Sci-fi, Fantasy, Classics and some YA are my favourite books to read. I've just completed my last year of high school, love riding horses and playing piano.
I'm hoping to get exposed to some really incredible books on this group :-)

message 259: by Megan Ann (new)

Megan Ann | 3 comments Hi Guys,

I'm Meg and while I have been off and on good reads for about a year I am making it a goal to be more interactive and take advantage of all this site has to offer!

I tend to bounce from one genre to another. Right now I am reading The Dark Tower from Stephen King and The Bishop from Stephen James.

Anyway glad to be here.

message 260: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Well, I accidently cancelled my previous comment...

Kirsty, I'm a horseback rider as well! And those are some of my favorite genres as well. Do you read any horse books?

Welcome, Meg! Glad you're getting more involved with goodreads. It's a great place to make friends and talk books. :)

message 261: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 5 comments That's awesome! What discipline do you do? What have you read recently? I don't normally... but I recently read The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes which was actually incredible! I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.

message 262: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I ride a variety of things, but mostly english. I did some dressage and hunters. I'm reading the Wheel of Time series right now. Have some other fantasy and sci-fi books planned for the year. Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author.

I haven't heard of that book. Glad you enjoyed it!

So I am hoping to go in that direction, whether it be working at venues, with artists, or other parts of that field. Ben Hello everyone, I'm Ben. I've been in a bit of a reading slump the last year or so, so I'm hoping a group like this will motivate me to get back into it. I also really enjoy book challenges; my girlfriend and I usually have a few throughout the year, such as who can read the most or read a certain series fastest. Looking forward to this

Spirit-Soul-Body (dreamsage) | 7 comments Hi C P

thanks

let me give 5 min to think what i like to read.

message 285: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I just compared our books on here. Looks like you enjoy fantasy. Sanderson is my favorite author. :)

Spirit-Soul-Body (dreamsage) | 7 comments To C P Cabaniss,

I hope you understand what I am telling

Now Big Question.....

I don't know what to like...just like interesting, exciting novel thoughts, inspirational ideas, motivational and out of box storyline which may be positive/negative provocative, intimidating teenage idiocy, fast pace saga, sluggish contemporary

i.e.

1. newspapers (i.e. manipulated true/lie stories)
2. spiritual
3. cultural histories
4. suspense and mystery stories
5. fiction tales
6. fantasy – teen, young adult, history, adventure
7. Religious puranas
8. Personality analysis – not development
9. Business success
10. Technology ideas
11. Meditation and Heath exercises
12. Ayurveda practice – also nutrition care for my kid
13. Safety awareness – (electronic pollution , water pollution, environment pollutions, chemical-daily life and food pollution)
14. Modern literature – poetry, biography, philosophy

I just find my own likings from anything.

Robert Jameson | 1 comments Hello everyone!

I'm Robert Jameson and I'm the author of numerous books - mainly non-fiction books - on a variety of subjects.

A common theme of many of my books, however, is the issue of how we can all improve our intelligent thinking capabilities through working to free our minds from prejudice.

And in order to encourage more free-thinking, I offer a wide variety of challenging thought-exercises to encourage people to question the politically-correct and 'acceptable' opinions of the society they live in.

To learn more about my work, please visit my website:

And if you are interested in my work and in supporting my aims, please get in touch. I'm always grateful for any help I can get - and I may even have a book I can send you for free!

message 290: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Hey everyone my name is Amanda. I love reading and this group has been so nice and motivating. I love to read anything YA and memoirs. This is the first year I have really discovered and used Goodreads and I have to say it's my favorite.

I am a middle school teacher for special education ELA and life skills. One comment I hear from my students is that they are allergic to reading. My goal this year to read 75 books. I keep all the books on my desk and always tell my students about them. I want them to understand how many different books are out there and see that not all books are boring. So far this plan is working because I have seen students check out library books for the first time and also students request class reading books!

message 291: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Hi, Amanda! I'm glad you've been enjoying our group! Goodreads really is an amazing place for book lovers to connect.

I'm glad your students are reacting well to your reading encouragement! It's always good to see your efforts pay off.

I aspire to become an author one day, currently, I'm working on my first novel. Between Emily Anna Bluebell is my pen name, I guess I was too impatient to wait for the day when my novel would be published. :)

message 297: by A.D. (new)

A.D. Herrick (adherrick) | 10 comments Hello,

My name is AD. I read just about anything I can get my hands on. Careful for the stereo instructions, I'll pick them up and read them as well.
I am also a romance author. Just because I write in the genre many think that is all I read. That is the farthest from the truth.

When I'm not writing you can find me working at one of my many jobs because I can't seem to sit still.

message 298: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Welcome, AD!

Having a wide range of reading interests is always a good thing. Do you only write romance, or have you tried other genres as well?

message 299: by A.D. (new)

A.D. Herrick (adherrick) | 10 comments I have tried paranormal for my daughter. I really liked it. I just realized that it was so much harder to write than romance haha There is more to it than most people think. Not that writing romance is a cake walk. It was just different than what I was used to. I would definitely like to try it again.

message 300: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm a writer as well, so I know what you mean. Things sound a lot easier than they are a lot of the time! Good luck with future writing projects, whether romance or a new genre. :)
