Hi everybody!

I am new here (and with here i mean this group, not goodreads. Have been registered here for ~3 1/2 years, but only rarely logged in. Ooops ^^'.) AAAAAAnyway... the last 2 years I didn't really read, just listened to audiobooks and I would like to change that. And what better way to change that than to find some groups on goodread and try to read the Book of the month and try to do some challenges, right?
So, nice to meet you all and I am looking forward to... well I don't know... hopefully being more active here?

Participating at least a bit is my goal. x)

My favorite genres vary quiet a bit per day. A lot of YA and 'Chicklit' , then books like Girl on the Train and Gone Girl, (Celebrity) Biographies, a little Horror here and there and now and then some very corny romance novels (those mostly in german). But it really depends on the mood I'm in. x)

It's good to have a wide range to pick from. Are you German? Or you just know the language?

I'm from Austria, so I speak German. (Also the reason why there might be some grammar/spelling mistakes in my posts.) x)

But generally I try to read books in English, at least when they were written in that language.

What about you? Do you do you read everything in English? :)

Ok, that makes sense. Reading in English probably helps you learn. Have you known English your whole life?

Yes, as of now I only read in English. I'm working on French (and some German), so hopefully I'll be able to start reading some books in those languages. If you have any suggestions of easier books in German, let me know. :)

No, but we start learn it in school at around age 10. Some easy words like dog, cat, house earlier, but the basic grammar, vocabulary and so on form 10-14.

Oh so are you teaching yourself French (and German)? Or are you taking courses? I had French for 3 years in school, it's just not for me. But I think I will give Italian a shoot. :)

Yes, I'm teaching myself French mostly. And a little German. I haven't been doing as much German. I follow some German equestrians and I like reading their posts, trying to see if I can understand what's being said. I love French. Italian would be cool as well.

Yeah, I don't know much German...I'm thinking about trying to get some of Cornelia Funke's books in German, since I think that was the original language for those. And since they are middle grade it might be easier for me to get to that point.

Hi, everyone! My name is Gradiva :) I like reading historical fiction mostly but also I read some English literature or history bio. My current books reading are the Song of Ice and Fire saga (I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan) and I've just finished The Great Gatsby. Thank you :) I have many favorites but at the moment The Kite Runner and Me Before You are two of my favorites.
Other than reading I really like to travel, take pictures, and drink coffee. I'm a big animal lover and hope to get a black lab once I have a yard for it to play in!

Hello everyone! My name is Alaina and I love reading! Absolutely love it (you can see my reading challenge goal if you don't believe me). I am open to reading basically any genre...so I don't really have a favorite. Aside from reading I love to cook, play with my dogs, and watch all kinds of shows like: masterchef, shadowhunters, big brother, survivor, modern family, etc. Like my books, I watch a wide variety of shows (my DVR is always full). I don't really know what else to say...so that's me in a nutshell :)

Hi Alaina! We seem to like similar shows. I LOVE Survivor. Modern Family is really funny too. I borrowed season 6 from the library. I think that is what I have seen up to. Have you seen the Middle? I think I prefer that usually over Modern Family even though both are realistic. What other shows do you like? Any TLC ones? My mom and I are addicted to 90 day Fiance now lol. I love dogs too and am learning to cook. Nice to meet you!

Hello Allie! No I don't think I have watched the middle, I do believe its on either Netflix or Amazon prime, so I will definitely start looking for that show. Have you heard of Life in Pieces? That's another good show that's sort of like modern family. Other shows? hmmm I like Quantico, Criminal Minds, The Bold Type, Married at first sight, Good Witch, and Animal Kingdom to name a few more. TLC shows? hmm I like Say yes to the dress and Return to amish. I haven't seen 90 day fiancé but it sounds sort of like Married at first sight. Nice to meet you too!!

Oh I think you would really like the Middle! It's the one with Patricia Heaton. Don't think I've seen it on Netflix instant yet. Need to watch season 8. I love the Return to Amish show! On 90 Day Fiance the couples actually know each other and one of them is from overseas but only have a certain amount of time to plan a wedding because of the visa. I think I have heard of Life In Pieces. Maybe I will check it out. How is the Good witch? Think I have heard mixed things. Have you seen a lot of seasons of Survivor?

I like Good Witch, its a cute show and something different for me. For survivor, yes I have although I didn't watch the latest season because I was still in school (trying to finish up my last semester) and I totally forgot about :( I'm trying to catch up now because I get my big girl job (haha). If the middle isn't on Netflix then I must've seen it on amazon prime then. I will make sure to start watching that.

Today I started Modern Family season 6 and it's so funny! Sofia Vergara is hilarious. Good to have something light to watch. What did you study in school Alaina? I'm in community college right now. The humor for the Middle is similar to Modern Family but a little different. It focuses more on the parents having financial issues and school stuff but it's really funny. This season of survivor was pretty good! I liked Aubry a lot. I actually know someone who knows her. My favorite season was the fans vs favorites with Brandon Hantz. I loved Malcolm. What are you doing for work?
