Interesting:-) Ok I really need to find copies of both!

Tatiana I'm through six chapters of Matched and I have this eerie feeling that I've already read it, only it didn't have a love triangle and went by a different title: The Giver.

message 153: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (venio) | 13 comments hah, I think it's like.. The Giver.. and the hunger games had a baby and this popped out; the giver being the dominate parent

Matched is pretty much The Giver rip-off IMO.

Everyone is reading Nightshade! I guess I have to get on B&N.com right now and order it...are you enjoying it as much as everyone else has?

Tatiana Tatiana wrote: "Matched is pretty much The Giver rip-off IMO."

I agree completely, and it's for that reason I'm having trouble reading on in Matched.

message 158: by Dija (new)

Dija @Jill: I devoured every single word of Nightshade, totally loved it. You definitely should read it ASAP; it's amazing!

I have been trying to avoid B&N! Looks like I have to feed the addiction. Thanks for the recommendation.

message 160: by Dija (new)

Dija @Jill: Can't you get it from a local library? Because I know how it is for us book lovers when they go to the bookstore, lol, I don't think I've ever come back from a bookstore with less than 5 books. :P And no problem, I hope you like Nightshade as much as I did!

it stays that way...its an unnecessary book in that series

message 167: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess Actually-I have 100 pages left and am enjoying Extras.
Its not necessary to the series, but im glad he wrote it :)

message 168: by D (new)

D I started Dangerous Angels: The Weetzie Bat Books and am really enjoying it. I read a review by someone who said that it was a book they would have enjoyed when they were younger, but I've found it the opposite. I like it now, but don't think I would have as a teenager. Back then I wouldn't have appreciated the uniqueness of all the characters.

I actually think Extras was pretty horrible compared to the first three books.
But I'm glad you like it:).

I am such a book freak that I had to stop using the library because I would read a book that I loved and if I don't own it, I can't give it to some of my loser friends to read (losers only because they take advantage of my obsession and let me spend all my money on books and then borrow...so loser in a loving way). I have to own books. I have to feel like I am the only human who every touched, smelled that book. So, I will buy Nightshade and probably love it but if I don't, oh well. :)
I am currently reading Dash & Lily's Book of Dares and I love it. I want to sneak home from work and get back into it.

message 173: by Julia (new)

Julia | 432 comments I just finished the wonderful The Very Best of Charles de Lint by Charles de Lint . If you like short stories, it could be an excellent introduction to his work.

I'm about to start the two plays Christopher Sergel adapted from To Kill a Mockingbird.

And I'm going to read Holly Black's Kith (The Good Neighbors, #2) by Holly Black and Kind, both are graphic novels.

message 174: by tesni (new)

tesni (akhmatova) an ARC of The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney. Mixed feelings so far.

message 175: by Dija (new)

Dija Currently reading A Rush of Wings (The Maker's Song, #1) by Adrian Phoenix

message 176: by Valeria (new)

Valeria | 8 comments Im reading "If i Stay" it's not that bad, maybe just Ok. The idea kind of reminds me of The Lovely Bones, but less traumatic. More of a Y.A version i guess.

Maybe there's a problem with me but after The Hunger Games Trilogy and The Alchemist by Michael Scott, I haven't really enjoy a book as much. Any GOOD suggestions as good as those?

BirdiesBookshelves Valeria-

I totally know how you feel. I recently just finished The Hunger Games books and had a hard time getting into a new series. I started The Immortals series by Alyson Noel a couple days ago and haven't been able to put it down.

message 178: by Valeria (new)

Valeria | 8 comments I read Evermore like a week ago and I dindt get hooked by it :( right now I'm reading the mortal instruments to see what tHe buzz is about but thnaks for the recommendation. Part of me feels like I need to finish the serie of "the inmmortals" so eventually I will. Besides dame is a good sport lol

Deborah Deeper than the Dead Deeper than the Dead by Tami Hoag

message 180: by Jill (new)

Jill | 9 comments Just started Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare before dinner. I love it so far.

message 181: by Amber (new)

Amber (Books of Amber) (booksofamber) I'm taking a break from Matched so I've decided to start reading Across the Universe. It's pretty good so far!

BirdiesBookshelves Just finished with Dark Flame (The Immortals, #4) by Alyson Noel . I was pretty disappointed with it so I decided to take a break from The Immortals series and start The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1) by Kimberly Derting . I am liking it so far and have high hopes!

message 183: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver Delirium by Lauren Oliver. So far, its kind of meh, but I'm still pretty early in the book. I'm holding out hope that it will get better, because I really liked Before I Fall, but I just don't think Lauren Oliver is cut out to write dystopian sci-fi.

message 184: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Just finishedThe Woman in Black: A Ghost Story The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill . Told in the traditional ghost story style and loved it!

Currently on The Help The Help by Kathryn Stockett . I like it, just a bit slow going do to the writing style.

message 185: by Rachel Alice (new)

Rachel Alice | 49 comments I'm reading Black Powder War, the third in the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, and loving it. The second book was somewhat meh for me, but this one leaves me feeling the same excitement I did when reading the first one.

I'm thinking of reading The Painted Boy by Charles de Lint; does anybody know if it's any good?

Sara, I've read Delirium and agree with you completely - Oliver is not really a sci-fi/dystopia writer. She should have stuck to realistic YA IMO.

message 187: by Julia (new)

Julia | 432 comments Rachel,

The Painted Boy by Charles de Lint is great. Really.

Currently reading two:
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler and

How are you enjoying Behemoth?

message 189: by Julia (new)

Julia | 432 comments Rachel asked How are you enjoying Behemoth?

I'd just read a few pages, when I looked at the calendar & realized I'd better concentrate on the other two books. I enjoyed Leviathan a lot.

I'm reading Matched as well, and I told my brother the description and he said the same exact thing about The Giver. I haven't read The Giver though. Are you liking Matched? I'm eighty pages through and still trying to connect with the characters.

I wasn't impressed by Matched. I eventually got past the similarities it had to The Giver, but by the end, I still didn't care about Cassia or her world. That's just my opinion. Good luck with it! :)

message 198: by Carri (new)

Carri (carrifedor) Read Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles this weekend.

message 199: by Carri (new)

Carri (carrifedor) Starting City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare this week.

message 200: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (bookwormlove666) | 9 comments I'm reading Evermore right now. I'm at like chapter 15, and I'm not sure if I like it yet. I want to keep reading but it just isn't a book that has me wanting to skip classes to read it. I was really looking forward to this series, and after reading some reviews (mostly bad ones, because I only ever read the bad reviews to see what is wrong with things), I am seeing why people dislike the book, the characters aren't that deep. and it reminds me wayyyyy too much of Twilight so far.
