Rachel | 1434 comments When I was kid, we had small circular throw rug in our hallway that our 18 year old cat loved to lay on. My stepfather hates cats but used to love to move the rug in a circle using his foot. I think the cat enjoyed the rides for a little bit. He called them "circle rides" and there was some accompanying song when he'd do it.

message 502: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Lol we would do that with the laundry basket, spin em round and round. Called 'em basket rides. The one cat we had loved the laundry baskets, he'd lick it all the time. He was a weird cat. :)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Cute stories! It was so funny to watch them get anxious for their turn!

message 504: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Cats are pretty persistent about their food. My cat expects us to fill her bowl every time she eats a hole out of the center of the pile. Kinda aggravating. And she has water inside but will eat inside and then want us to let her out in the courtyard so she can go drink the nasty water out there. She guards this bowl of water like it was a Brinks truck. It's so funny. We think the neighborhood orphan cat has drank from it a time or two and that's why she guards it.

message 505: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments They're still worshiped, lol. I don't understand people who hate cats. My library is next to a big park, and a few years ago there was a stray cat who hung out by the back door. A coworker would bring food from home to feed it, but was told by Administration to stop because some other workers at the library who don't like cats said they were afraid the cat would come up to them while they were out smoking. So irrational! The woman found a home for it so it worked out for the best, but what kind of person are you to deny a stray food and water because you're too chickenshit of a cat? The cat would barely get near a human.

message 506: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments Or, if you hate cats, why not stop smoking? :) My cat does the demanding food if the center of her bowl is empty thing too. Now we're trying to get the two cats to not eat each other's food because Anna only gets wet food twice a day and if Spanky scarfs some of it, the boyfriend feels like Anna loses out. However, I catch Anna eating Spanky's dry food (which is left out all day because she doesn't finish it in one sitting) between meals sometimes so I don't think either cat is starving and policing that stuff just stresses me out. As long as there's no fighting or hissing, I don't really care.
I dated a guy in my early 20's who was scared of Spanky and used to make me lock her out of my room when we were in there. So she'd spend the entire night scratching at the door because she sleeps with me every night. Needless to say, we broke up (not just over that issue either). So glad my current boyfriend loves cats. Sometimes I have to be the parent and tell him we can't take in every stray we see. :)

message 508: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments yep it did! and I just took pics. They're on Twitter and Facebook but let me see I can post them here. This hasn't been working for me...

message 509: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments Ok so here are pics of the yellow chair I bought yesterday (and which it took them all freakin' day to deliver)...

First, without cat. I bought pillows at Pier 1.

and then with Spanky checking things out...

message 510: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments And this is our newest cat, Anna, that we got in July. I don't remember if I posted her pic before.

Most romantic song ever written, IMO."

Kyle, that's so weird. I was just talking about Bette Midler on FB. That's a great song I think.
But as far as most romantic, I would say Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

Thanks, Charlene.

Jason, Anna's actually our little cuddlebug. She loves sitting in people's laps. It's how she convinced us to take her home. :)

Great chair Rachel.....

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Lol when my guy and I were first together, we were out drinking when he asked me to move in with him. I said, sure, but not without my cat, so when the bar closed at 2:30 a.m, we went over to my dad's house and I 'snuck' up the stairs, stuffed the cat in his carrier bag with a bag of food, grabbed some clothes for myself, and that was that. Lol poor cat probably thought I was crazy...

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I love to see pics of fat cats lying on their side. Their little feet poke out like sausages. I had a big fat cat named Ruth. We were laughing last night about how she NEVER did take a liking to the newest member of the family. My cat Tillie never did anything to Ruth, but Ruth hated her presence in the house. If Tillie walked into the room and stared at Ruth, Ruth would snort out of her nose, get agitated, and just walk out of the room.

I love that chair; now you just need an ottoman to complete the cozy reading corner. I can't get comfy till I kick up my feet. Hope your cats don't scratch the chair.

My son loves our cat, but he's looking forward to getting a kitten when she passes, so we can love him/her for a looooong time.

message 523: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments Speaking of fat cats, this is Rascon. I think I might have posted this picture here somewhere before, but I like it so much, I've been meaning to post it again.

The story behind this picture is that I was sitting in my chair, watching hockey when Rascon appeared on the table at my side. He stuck his head over the little table lamp that I had there. He used to always do this with that lamp before we eventually got rid of it. I think he liked the heat.

Anyway, I was glad to have finally got a photo of him doing that. I wanted this pic or a long time because I think he makes an excellent evil kitty! LOL

Devil-Cat, This is my cat, Raskin. He's just as evil as he looks here.

message 524: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Jason, I love it! He looks pretty intimidating, I must say. I love how all my friends at GR and especially HA are animal lovers.

We have had cats lay under lamps that were on tables. We used to call these cats "apple pies" because they were like McDonald's pies being kept warm under a heat lamp.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 958 comments This is my cat Malz (the striped one) with the stray that we take care of that comes in the house sometimes but mainly wants to stay outside (Korn)

Korn doesn't put up with Malz for long and doesn't want much to do with him.

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments Thanks, Tressa and Lee!

Those are a cute bunny and some kitties above. I think it's great that we all animal lovers, too. I don't know what I'd do without a cat and a dog in my life.

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments That's one happy-looking kitty, Chris. Does she let you scratch her belly?

Actually, Rascon just looks evil in my pic. In reality, he's really just a suck who loves to eat human food. His favorite is cheerios.

Thanks! Maggie will let me scratch her belly for about two seconds and then start to grab my hand with her paws and try to nip me...sometimes I do that just to mess with her, but she never bites hard...

message 535: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Kyle, I'm surprised your big kitty can even jump up on a car. But I love that picture, though.

Aaron, I just want to know one thing: Is your company hiring?

Lauren (love4leo) | 137 comments I know it's way past Halloween, but here are a few of our Halloween pics. The first one is my pumpkin--it's supposed to be the Cheshire Cat, but it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it. The second one is my husband's pumpkin--a sugar skull. The last two are my daughter in her costume. She was a minion from Despicable Me. :)
