That one hopped out of the nest, so I snapped a quick pic while taking care of it.

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I love rabbits, I started raising them with my grandpa both for pets (the ones pictured) as well as meat breeds. When my grandpa passed away awhile back I sold them all but I will get back into it in time, I already miss them. A babby bunny is the cutest thing in the world, you should see some of my videos.

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments Dean, you have to put your picture in a photo storage site like photobucket. Once your picture is uploaded there, there will usually be a code that you can copy and paste in the comment box here at goodreads and it will show your picture.

If you look at the top of the comment box, you'll see this: (some html is ok)

Click on that and you will find the basic code that you use for posting images.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments GR doesn't make it easy to post a picture.

To post one you find on the Internet, just cut and paste the URL into the HTML code provided in the (some html is ok) link.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments It's beautiful, though. The year before last we had snow several times, which is unusual. Last year: nothing. Hope we get some this year. My son will have a ball playing with the neighborhood kids. And we bought a sled.

message 567: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I like having snow for Christmas, then it can leave. Not sure if we'll have snow this year. Today's weather is in the 50's and the sun is shining brightly. It's December 3 and we've only had around a inch so far.

message 568: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments If it snowed at Christmas down here, we wouldn't be able to get to visit with our relatives Christmas Eve or day because we're never prepared to drive in the snow and ice. So I wouldn't want a white Christmas at all. A few years ago it threatened to snow on Christmas Eve and I was bummed it could keep up from going to my uncle's.

I like snow.
Who needs relatives?

message 570: by Char (new)

Char | 17465 comments Like Kyle, I don't mind a little dusting or snow for Christmas. After that I don't like having to deal with it at all.
Plus after the first day or so, the snow turns dirty and ugly looking.

message 571: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments we've only had a dusting so far. After so many years of onstreet or uncovered parking, I was actually looking forward to not having to constantly scrape my car this year because we have a garage at our new place.

message 572: by Char (new)

Char | 17465 comments Oh, Rachel. Then it's guaranteed not to snow there this year!
Just like it's guaranteed to rain on the day or the day after I wash my car.

message 573: by Justin (last edited Dec 03, 2012 01:03PM) (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I like snow for about a month. I heat my house with corn and because it was so dry around here crops did bad and the price skyrocketed. I don't know how I am going to make it through the winter. Good thing I stocked the freezers (4 of them and ones a chest freezer) with chicken, rabbit, and venison.

message 574: by Char (new)

Char | 17465 comments Is there a special burner/stove for corn, Justin?

I am heating this year with a wood stove, which is doing a tremendous job so far. It's a lot of work for us, but so far looks like it is going to save us about $1500.00 over the winter in heating costs.

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments Yea it Burns corn, wood pellets, and cherry pits. You fill the back and get the fire started then it drops a handfull every few minutes to keep the fire going. My old man owns 10 acres he is going to plant corn on next year after the farmer who plants and harvests it takes his cut there should be enough to heat my house his house and my uncles house all winter. Next year will be alot better for me.

Oh, I see. I didn't know pellet stoves could burn other things. It's nice to have a hopper like that too.

Ye olde woodstove that I have, has to be loaded and tended to quite a bit.

message 578: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I fill mine twice a day.

message 579: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments We've got a woodburner, a big red one in the basement. At my step-dad's house growing up, we had the same kind, but in the garage. It does an awesome job heating the house, but it's a bit messy with the firewood and the dust. I like it though, something about a real fire is just good.

message 580: by Char (new)

Char | 17465 comments Kit, yes it is very messy!
But it smells so good and is very efficient.

message 581: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments We have a wood burning fireplace and it heats the front part of our house really well. Also, we have about 10 floor to ceiling windows in our dining/living room and in the winter we raise the shades and let it heat up the house. Our power bill is really low in the winter.

message 582: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I love my woodburning fireplace. The problem is the upstairs gets cold when I have a fire going.

message 583: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments That can happen because the heat doesn't kick on because it's warm from the fire. But our house must be really well insulated because the back part of the house doesn't get too cold. We only use a fire when it's really cold outside and it's more for ambience; very relaxing to lie in the living room with the lights on low and watch the fire. By the time we go to bed it's out and the heat kicks on.

Dean Henryson (dean_henryson) | 10 comments Flowers in the desert

A rare find ... once in about 25 years or so the Mojave Desert gets some intense growths of poppies and other flowers. A strange place for a horror author to wind up, huh?

message 590: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments What a great photo! The poppies are beautiful.

message 591: by Bill (new)

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments Nice photo, Dean! Every year there is a field of tulips that pops up by the local high school and people flock there to take pictures.

Not a bad place for a horror author photo at all. Maybe they come from evil poppy spores from an underground labyrinth of hell and whoever smells them goes homicidally insane. Just sayin’.
