Mary Summer (mesummer) Hello, all! I'm just now starting to really explore Good Reads and am excited to participate in this group. I love books and always have. Give me a good used bookstore over a movie theater any day. And YA is the only genre that will keep me up all night reading, that will get me to stand in line at a bookstore at midnight for a new release, that excites me to the point of blathering on and on (much like this post). Some of my favorites are The Truth About Charlotte Doyle, A Great and Terrible Beauty, Catching Fire, Sabriel, Beautiful Creatures, Little Women, Remember Me, Down a Dark Hall, The Secret of the Unicorn Queen, and many, many more. I also love to write YA, but more on that another time. :-)

Sarah Hey everybody! I'm Sarah. Love YA books as well as Adult fiction, murder, classics, and so on. Honestly I don't have one favorite author. If I had to pick the top two vying for first place? Lisa Mangum and Cassandra Clare. Favorite books: the entire Hourglass Door Trilogy, The City of Glass, Clockwork Prince, Graceling, and well I could go on for a really long time, but I won't. :)

message 213: by Caterina (new)

Caterina (kiwicara) | 8 comments Hello everyone! Just joined and wanted to say hi. I'm obsessed with YA fiction. Started out with the vamp/supernatural stuff (fave series being Vampire Academy), and moved on to the new crop of dystopian novels - I loved the old classics like 1984 and Brave New World, so I'm thrilled there are so many new ones popping up. Hunger Games was amazing, and I can't wait for the new Divergent novel to come out! Oh, I also love the Percy Jackson series.

message 227: by Tom (new)

Tom Harris (tomharris) | 1 comments Hi, my name's Tom, I'm a writer and self publishing my first YA novel, a dark fairy tale called The Amber Room next month on various e-book formats. I started writing YA stuff during my Creative Writing MA a few years back when I discovered how brilliant this genre was and now I don't read or write anything else - well rarely - my favourite book this year is Blood Red Road by Moira Young, and I'd highly recommend this to anyone. Currently reading Sam Hawksmoor's Repossession, which has hooked me in nicely and have Divergent by Veronica Roth and Hidden by Miriam Halahmy to follow that. My wordpress site tomdharris.wordpress.com has the opening chapters of The Amber Room and a short story if anyone fancies a read. Looking forward to chatting and reading your blogs in the future. Nice to be here.

Liv Chanin (liv_chanin) | 7 comments Hi everyone!

I'm a teen librarian, addicted to all things fantasy, though I will read anything you stick under my nose. Okay...maybe not anything. I couldn't get through Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, even though it was for a book club I was facilitating. Right now I'm catching up on the Iron King books. My favorite book of all time is an oldie but goodie YA, the Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce. If you haven't read it, you must. You don't know what you're missing!
Have a nice weekend!

Great to be here.

Grant Morris (grantmorris) | 4 comments My name is Grant. I have so many favorite books--it's hard to single them out. In fact, the one that comes to mind isn't even YA. I've always loved The Stand by Stephen King. It's long (1100 pages) and the characters are so vivid. By the last page they feel like family. As for authors, Orson Scott Card is one of my favorites and he regularly publishes 1-2 books per year, which is awesome! But I'm also very impressed with Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games was a fantastic read!
