Hey there!
The Teen Author Festival event I'm doing with John Green, Libba Bray and David Levithan

(Reader's Theater!
In other words, see John Green perform Dr. Z.
Or maybe see Libba be Noel.
Or maybe David will be Roo.
I don't know yet, but it will be full of THEATRICAL EXCITEMENT and we will act out not only The Treasure Map of Boys but also Going Bovine and Will Grayson, Will Grayson)

okay, now back to what I was saying: The Teen Author Festival event I am doing has changed venue!

Cupcakes and College and Contests

The past two days were the glam part of my job, as opposed to the tear-my-hair-out OMG my book is due and it's not finished don't tell my editor I'm blogging part of the job (Hi Donna!) that resumes tomorrow.

This morning I spent at the Random House Book Fair, which was incredibly fun -- I had a great crowd, and the women who write the Whimsical BakeHouse books MADE ME A CUSTOM CUPCAKE of a shark (because of the shark in my little kid book, Toy Dance Party). I photographed it, but haven't...

Catching up

Some announcements:

March 6, 2010 in the AM I'm at the Westminster, MD bookfair doing LITTLE KID stuff. Come and bring the kids!

Then later in March I'm at the NYC Teen Author Festival (March 16-21), doing I don't know what all except SEKRIT STUFF WITH David Levithan, Libba Bray and John Green.

Then I go off to the Vermont College Novel-Writing Workshop to teach for a weekend, which I'm psyched about.

And in between all this, I finish my book.

Remind me how to do that, now?

I forget.

Writing life and linkies

I am writing. Except not right now, cuz I'm blogging.

I am in my new local coffee shop (I moved in January) and some kind of folky folk folk music is playing.  I have cinnamon tea and a mediocre scone. (Why are the baked goods mediocre in every place that lets you plug in???)

Some hot new books that just came out: Heist Society by Ally Carter and Scarlett Fever by Maureen Johnson.  One is art theft! International intrigue! Romance!  The other is theatrical! New Yorky! Hilarious!

Okay, enough...

This and that

All January I was at ReaderGirlz contributing to their discussions of The Disreptuable History of Frankie Landau-Banks.  Here's the link the roundup of all the conversations.

In other news: not much. I am fully settled in my new office. It is so pretty you guys!   I will take a picture soon.

I am reading Going Bovine by Libba Bray which is incredible. I am listening to The Killing Floor by Lee Child which is very scary and making me do lots of exercise because that's when I have time to...

Libba wins the Printz! etc.

I am so thrilled for my pal Libba Bray that she won The PRINTZ award for best young adult novel!!! for her book, Going Bovine. What you might not know about Libba if you have only read the Gemma Doyle books (A Great and Terrible Beauty, etc.) is that she is extremely hilarious. I am reading Bovine now and it is awesome awesome awesome.

In other news, I know I have been a bad blogger. I moved house after the holidays and am only just now coming up for air. I have an office!! It is beautiful...
