The Fitbit

Being a writer is a rather sedentary job.  My commute is about twelve steps from my kitchen, and when I'm actually working, I'm pretty much only moving my fingers.  When you see pictures of famous writers, you rarely think, 'Whoa, those guys are studs.'
I used to try to buck this trend as much as possible. [...]

The Last Musketeer is now available!

As of today (September 27) it ought to be available at a bookstore near you.  And if it's not available at a bookstore near you, then that bookstore should certainly be able to order it for you.
I think it's pretty good, myself.  And my mother really enjoyed it as well.  But don't just take our [...]

Further amazing updates!

A busy busy week here on my end.  Now that there are multiple projects going on at once, sometimes there are days where things are happening with several books at once.  So here's the current update on where the next few projects stand:
1) The Last Musketeer will officially be in bookstores on Tuesday (September 27) [...]

Last Musketeer sales spike!

As I've noted before, I'm somewhat addicted to checking my sales on line.  (Which is far better than being addicted to lots of other things, kids.)  So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I got this notice from Amazon:

That's right.  One copy.  Although, in my defense, the book hasn't been released yet.
And, even [...]

Change is coming

For those of you who are habitual visitors of this website (and at last count, there were approximately 6 million who were), fasten your seatbelts.  The look of the site is about to change.
As much as I love the current look, it's very Belly Up centric, and the whole hippo motif just doesn't go with [...]

Africa!

Why haven't I posted for the last few weeks?  Because I have been in Africa.  Yes, Africa.  Tanzania and Kenya, to be exact.  Arusha National Park, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, the Masai Mara and Manda Island to be even more exact.
And I probably won't be posting for a week or two after this, because [...]

First Review for Last Musketeer

The first review has come in for The Last Musketeer (just in case you couldn't tell from the title of this post).  It's from the highly-respected Kirkus reviews, who — according to their own website — are "The World's Toughest Book Critics."  (The second toughest critics, FYI, are the Sledgehammer Boys, who have been known [...]

New Trailer for Belly Up

You have to love the fine folks from the great state of Vermont.  First, there was the nomination for the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award, followed by the sudden surge of book sales there.  (For those of you keeping score at home, according to Amazon, Vermont is buying as many copies of Belly Up as [...]

Belly Up sales spike!

I'm well aware that, if there's one thing my devoted followers want more of, it's statistics.  I can't tell you how many emails I get demanding more graphs and charts on this site.  (OK, that's a total lie.)
But I wanted to share this with you anyhow.  This is what happens when your hardback book comes [...]
