Oh no!!! Not another hippo murder!!!

Last week, I spent the day at the fabulous Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, CA.  It’s one of my favorite schools to visit.  This time, I was greeted with a wonderful hippo murder crime scene in the library.  (And yes, that’s the first time the words ‘wonderful hippo murder crime scene’ have ever been used [...]

My Author Turf Interview

There’s a fun interview of me on this great site, Author Turf.  Click here to read it.
I actually did the interview a few months back, but Author Turf interviews a lot of authors.  If you like to read about YA authors, it’s worth a search to see if some of your favorites have been interviewed. [...]

Belly Up crime scene

I just got this.  It’s from Marshall Middle School in Beaumont, Texas, where they decided to have a reenactment of Henry the Hippo’s murder right in their school library.  (Don’t worry, though.  No actual hippos were harmed in the making of this crime scene.)

Thanks to everyone at Marshall MS for this!  It’s awesome!

Spy School is an Edgar Award finalist!!!!!

Yes, the above heading deserves the extra exclamation points.  While my books have been nominated for awards before, the Edgar Award is the big one.  It’s kind of the Oscar of mystery writing.  (Or, as many of my friends have pointed out, the Oscar is like the Edgar of movies.)
Here’s the list of nominees, just [...]

Costa Rica megafauna

Well, I finally got to Costa Rica.  I’ve only been meaning to go for 20 years now.  For the past two decades, people have been telling me, ‘You have to go to Costa Rica!  It’s awesome!’ if not asking me, ‘How have you not been to Costa Rica yet?  It’s so you.”
So now I’ve been. [...]

Spy School super-duper mega-promotion!

Lots of good things have been happening lately.  One of the nicest is Barnes & Noble’s decision to heavily promote Spy School for the holiday season.  Wander into the young readers section of your local B&N, and chances are you’ll see this:

Check it out!  Spy School right there along with the works of masters like [...]
