Why we don't watch soccer in America

Whenever I travel to other countries, one of the biggest questions anyone has about the USA is, 'Why on earth don't you care about football?' (which is what they call soccer everywhere but here).  The rest of the world loves the sport, and in theory, we ought to as well:  Far more kids in America [...]

The next next cover

I know The Last Musketeer hasn't even come out yet, but the cover for my next next book, Spy School, has officially been released.  (Or at least, it's shown up on Amazon.)  It's another work of art by Lucy Cummins, who designed the Belly Up cover:

Pretty cool, isn't it?

Wildlife of Massachusetts

I begin with yet another apology about how long it's been since my last update.  I was out of town again, this time in Massachusetts.  This trip was pure vacation, with my entire family: wife, kids and both sets of parents, hers and mine.  We were out on Cape Cod and Nantucket.  It's probably no [...]

The paperback, part two

Big day on the writing front.  I just finished the second draft of the second book of the Musketeers series.  It's looking good.
And then, the paperback edition of Belly Up arrived.  The front cover looks almost exactly the same, except that it has a good review on it and, well… it's paper.  The back cover [...]

The Paperback

According to Amazon, the paperback of Belly Up is now outselling the hardcover version.  This shouldn't be that surprising… except for one thing:  The paperback hasn't come out yet.  It won't be released until July 7 this year.
OK, I suppose that's still not terribly surprising.  After all, anyone who goes on Amazon to buy Belly [...]

Research. Really.

I just got back from France.  I was doing research for the next two books in the Musketeers series.  Really, I was.
A lot of people are going to think this trip was just an excuse to go to France.  Because France is always lovely to visit.  But the fact is, I actually did need to [...]

Reunion

I admit it, I've been a bit lax at updating lately.  The truth is, I've been traveling quite a lot lately, and I haven't quite mastered the art of updating on the go.  (We tend to stay very busy whilst traveling in my family.)  In the last ten days, I have been to Philadelphia (college [...]

The story so far…

It's been almost a year since Belly Up came out and I started this blog, so I figured I'd do a bit of updating on where things stand in my world right now.
As you saw in my last post, I had a delightful visit with the Fairmont School in Denver.  What I didn't include was [...]
