Why you should read ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ (no matter how old you are)
One of the questions I get asked most from young readers is “What are some of your favorite books?” For years, I’ve been rattling off favorites like “The Westing Game” and “The Phantom Tollbooth” and “The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles” but there’s one book I haven’t mentioned — even though I was relatively [...]

Dead Hippo Cake — and other things
I just realized that it’s been a month since I last posted, which is probably the biggest posting gap I’ve had since starting this blog. So what have I been doing, you ask?
Writing. As of this morning, I have wrapped up draft one of Spy School 3 (which doesn’t mean it’s anywhere close to finished, [...]

New cover for Poached (sort of)!
I have often used this blog to sing the praises of my amazing designer, Lucy Cummins. Lucy is incredibly talented, and I truly believe that her eye-catching cover designs for Belly Up, Spy School and Spy Camp have a great deal to do with the success of those books. So I was already very pleased [...]

What am I writing for?
That was the question asked of me by fellow writer Lafayette Wattles. He was nice enough to include my answer here on his website.
The basic gist, though, is that I’ve always loved writing. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. I used to go into bookstores, find the ‘G’ section and imagine seeing [...]

Official Poached release date
[ April 8, 2014; ] The official release date for Poached -- the next mystery set at FunJungle -- has been set.
The book will be available in store and as an ebook on April 8, 2014.
I know, that's a long way off. But I figured I'd let you know now so you could start planning ahead of time. Perhaps you [...]

How to write an on-line review, Part 2
The shot below are real reviews of Spy Camp on Amazon. I like all of them, although I’m particularly fond of the second review down, from R. Bergeron. It’s very succinct, and it tells you what’s really important: That his son loved it. What else does a potential reader need to know?
Or, if you have [...]

Answers to your burning questions about Spy School 3
Since the publication of Spy Camp, the Spy School series has really taken off in popularity. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the third book in the series, so I figured, rather than answer them all one-by-one, I could just post the answers to the most popular questions right here. So here we [...]

World Domination, Part Two
The last time I laid out my plans for world domination, I was writing about countries that have contracted to publish my books there. However, just because my books aren’t being officially published in a country doesn’t mean that they aren’t being read there. You can order my books by mail virtually anywhere in the [...]

Crushing the category
Admittedly, this is a bizarre best-seller list category on Amazon. I didn’t come up with it. I don’t know why Amazon put my books in it. But I’m pleased to see my books dominating it.
