5 Star Review of Slade (Walk of Shame #1) by Victoria Ashley

After initially reading the second book in the Walk of Shame series, Hemy, I had to go back and read Slade. I was surprised by the negative reviews of this book on Amazon and Goodreads, especially since I really loved reading Hemy. Now I'm glad I ignored the haters and dove into it anyways.
The cover itself is hot enough to entice you to read, but the story is just as amazing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Victoria Ashley knows how to write sex scenes like no other. However, there is so much more to the characters in this book than just sex. There are secrets Slade and Aspen, the girl he's trying to get into his bed, are keeping from each other. The author does a great job keeping the reader in suspense as well, and I couldn't put this book down. Once you realize the heartache of Slade's past, you can't help but fall for him right along with Aspen.
There's no better way to spend $0.99 than buying this book on Amazon! I give it 5 stars!

So, smart he got out of the slums of Baltimore to go to MIT and make a lot of money so he never has to visit his old neighborhood ever again. He’s not interested in making money anymore; he’s interested in only two things, his charity to help inner city youth and woman. The later he prefers variety, as in one good lay and then out the door you go. Women are for sex and nothing more.Josephine meet Pierce.Pierce meet Josephine. Can they handle what each wants and needs?
Snippet from Grading Him:
“If you keep that up Pierce we’ll never make it back to your place.”Confused I lower her arm and let go.
“My place?”She pushed me away and walks back toward the hall, but turns to look at me before she disappears.“Yeah, your place. I’m hungry though, I hope you have some food. I want to make sure I have all the energy I need for when you fuck me so long and hard I forget what decade I’m in and start quoting ‘Wayne’s World’.”She turns and is gone. It’s a good thing because I just fell to my knees and slumped over. If someone was watching they would think I was having a heart attack. I’m not having the heart attack, my dick is.
Reaching Her Book Blurb:
Josephine Powell is an intelligent assistant professor of Psychology. She is a woman who knows what she wants: a man who can earn a grade "A" in the bedroom, but is smart enough to earn an "A" in romance as well. After last night with Pierce Carver she thinks she found her first-ever A-man, but will he be able to capture her heart in the daytime?Pierce Carver has, between hard work and brains, achieved everything he's set his eye on. A serial entrepreneur, now independently wealthy, his sexual prowess has always kept women from leaving after the deed was done, much to his chagrin. Until the night Josephine comes into his life, that is: the one woman he wanted to stay through the next morning! It’s the morning after the best sex of his life, when he wakes to find neither her nor her number, only an enigmatic note. Will he even be able to find her? If he does, will she even want a man who has no idea how to woo a woman?
My Review:
I received a free copy of both books for my honest review.
When I started reading the first book, Grading Him, I wasn't a huge fan of the main female character, Josephine, or her friend Luna. However, I was quickly pulled into the story and warmed up to both characters.
Jos and her best friend Luna head to a club in search of a good time, and hope to even luck up and find a man that can blow their minds in bed. The two women grade men on their sexual performance, and when they fail, they cut them loose.
Enter Pierce, a sexy man who, on looks alone, seems to Jos likely to excel in all the important subjects. Pierce is the male version of her, and he's not looking for a serious relationship. Instead he's just enjoying women and life after putting in some hard work to overcome his initial struggles in life.
What Pierce and Jos couldn't predict was that one hot night is not enough for either of them. The author's sex scenes between the couple is sizzling hot, and the ending of Grading Him leaves the reader wanting more.
In the second book, Reaching Her, Jos leaves a note for Pierce with a hint of how to find her again. Without her phone number, or even her last name, Pierce will have to do a little work to track her down. He's definitely up for the challenge, and can't wait to see her again. As a reader you'll be rooting him on, anxious to see what happens if/when the two meet up again.
Unlike the first book, the dialogue in Reaching Her is too proper. I understand that Jos and Pierce are both of above average intelligence, however, I found the way they speak to each other to be too dramatic for present day dating. It's almost like old Victorian rather than contemporary English. Maybe Jos and Pierce fucked so long and hard that they forgot what century they were in rather than the decade. The formal conversations were just so unrealistic that they took away from the great story, therefore I wasn't nearly as captivated by the second book.
I give Grading Him five stars for being a fast-paced sexy love story, and Reaching Her three stars, for an average of four stars. I do look forward to the third and final book in the series to see how things with Jos and Pierce end. I just hope there's a little less formal conversation and a lot more action.
Elizabeth Lynx Author Bio:
Grew up in Maryland and lived an average life. In college I was a theater major, but wasn’t that good at acting so I left the acting world behind once I graduated. I did keep up writing my comedy sketches and eventually pursued Improv. That took me to Chicago where I was in the Second City Conservatory Program. But, like much of my life and to my husband’s chagrin, I gave up Improv. I have a tendency to lose interest in things after a certain period of time, my mom is the same way. So, now I am a writer, no longer the performer. I make my characters perform for me. My husband and I and my two little boys have moved back to the Washington DC area to be closer to family. Every day I take care of my kids and while they nap or eat or play I write.

Angel Callers
In the second half of Blood Ties, book two in the Bound by Blood series, Tom's story will eventually catch up with Sam and Kate from Blood Drive. While shopping for (spoiler alert) Kate's wedding band, Sam comes across an Angel Caller, a long, silver necklace with a heart-shaped locket holding a colorful ball chime, which he buys for his pregnant, soon-to-be wife.
So what is an Angel Caller necklace?
The Mexican bola is a musical chime that fits into the locket of the long, usually silver or leather, necklace. From around 20 weeks of pregnancy the baby can hear sounds, so when the locket with the bola is worn low on the pregnant mother's belly, the baby can hear the soft chiming noise whenever the mother moves. The sound is soothing and will become a familiar comfort to the baby, relaxing them in the womb, and recognizable to the baby even after they are born.
So why the name "Angel Caller"? Legend says that angels once came down from the heavens and gave these chimes to loved ones, to be used to call upon the angel whenever they needed their protection or comfort.
These necklaces are beautiful, and come in a variety of shapes and colors. If you would like to get your own, click here to visit Petite Salu's Etsy page.
Here is just one example of the unique necklaces you can find in their store:
While in North Carolina and in Mexico, the characters in Blood Ties take a trip to the beach, and (spoiler alert) there may be a wedding proposal that takes place there.
My husband proposed to me on a beach in South Carolina, and we were married on a beach near Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Petite Salu also offers beach in a glass necklaces like the one below, which I had to have. With these you can choose the color of the sand and the color of the necklace.

Release Day for Blood Ties & Cover Reveal for Blood Loss
Today's a big day. It's my parent's 40th wedding anniversary, the release day for Blood Ties, and the cover reveal for Blood Loss.
BOOK TWO IN THE BOUND BY BLOOD SERIES - BLOOD TIES
SUMMARY
Tom Adams is surrounded by an evil force that's sucking the life out of him a little more each day - his conniving new wife Vanessa, and his uncaring, belittling mother. Stuck on a path he hates and never actually wanted, he jumps at the opportunity to leave Pennsylvania and embark on an investigation to look for supernatural beings in North Carolina.
Tom wanted to become a D.R.A. agent to hunt down and kill dangerous monsters, like murderous werewolves or molesting vampires. Instead, he's asked to find two young siblings, who are wanted by his agency solely for the fact that they're suspected to be a witch and warlock. Unable to condemn two innocent people to death, he's on a mission to find them before his supervising agent does, and tell them their lives are in danger.
Elizabeth Maddox is having a difficult time dealing with the loss of her mother. It doesn't help that her twin brother Jason is expressing his grief by experimenting with magic to channel his anger. Jason's unstable, and Elizabeth's worried he's going to hurt himself (or someone else) with the spells their mother always forbade them from using.
One morning a mysterious, familiar looking stranger wanders into Elizabeth's section at the restaurant where she waitresses. She forgets everything else and is instantly captivated by his sex appeal and charm. Tom makes her feel things she's never experienced before, and leaves her wanting more after their first mind-blowing kiss. However, Elizabeth has no idea that not only does Tom know exactly who she is, but what she is as well.
Tom never expected that the woman he was looking for would turn out to be the one he'll give up everything to have. He's ready to throw away his sham of a marriage, his career with a murderous agency, and anything else it takes to be with Elizabeth. The only problem, he doesn't know how she'll react when she finds out he's lied to her, and that he actually works for the agency that wants her and her brother dead.
On top of this obstacle with Elizabeth, Tom decides to keep his marriage a secret from her until he gets an annulment. He never expected his soon-to-be-ex-wife to come looking for him in North Carolina to set things straight, or that Vanessa would spill the truth to Elizabeth.
Tom refuses to give up on Elizabeth when she tells him she never wants to see him again. He begs her to forgive him for his betrayal, but she refuses to let him hurt her any more than he already has, even if it means keeping a life changing secret from him.
In a cruel twist of fate, Tom's left with heartbreak, guilt and anger at himself for creating the sins in his life that leave him carrying his own burdens alone. It may take time, nineteen years even, but eventually he'll realize and appreciate that fate has a way of ensuring everything turns out exactly as it's supposed to in the end. And for Tom, his love for Elizabeth was just the beginning.

Cover reveal of Termination Rule by Alaina Stanford!
Today the big feature is Alaina Stanford!
She has a brand new book, with an eye popping new cover!
First lets start off with a little bit about Alaina, here is her Author Bio:
I have one of those brains that won't turn off at night. Many nights I would distract my intellect by revamping a movie, book or TV show in my mind. I would twist and turn the plots and characters to achieve the ending I preferred. That developed into side stories about my favorite minor characters. Each night I fell asleep in the middle of a grand adventure. It wasn't long before I began to create stories of my own and put pen to paper.
I love a good adventure. I love a good romance. As the mother of seven children, I also learned to love to play video games. One day it occurred to me to write an adventure that flowed like a video game and I added a touch of romance. Thus, Hypnotic Journey was born. The HJ characters are like a family to me. They are foolish, daring, resourceful, passionate and dedicated to their friends.
My love for Science Fiction gave birth to the Treborel Series. It’s a paranormal Sci-Fi romance featuring a psychotic villain and a multiple layer of hero's fighting to survive the chaos.
I write about how friendship and love can carry you through situations that you might not otherwise survive. You will find my stories exciting and steamy, but I am not an erotic writer. My stories fade to dark when the steam begins to rise, but take it from me, the steam does rise and emotions do soar.

*TUESDAY TEASER* Here's a snippet from BLOOD TIES before it's released this Friday, 9/26!
Looking up on my walk across the dining room, I realized he’d been watching me. His expression was unreadable, sitting with his elbows on the table, his head in his hands making him look downright distraught until I approached.
There was something incredible about his intense blue eyes that made my breath catch. It was almost like he could see right through me.
I tried my best to act as normal and unaffected by him as possible, sitting his tea down with a shaky hand. I even remembered to pull out a straw and put it beside the glass.
“So, do you need more time or have you decided what you’d like to have?” I asked pulling out my notepad and pen again.
“I knew what I'd like to have as soon as I walked through the door," he said, his voice deep and soothing. "You.”
My head jerked up and my jaw dropped. Shit, now my sleep deprivation was causing hallucinations. I waited for him to finish with his order, hoping I'd catch some of, it but he just kept looking at me, his piercing blue eyes never leaving mine.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” I asked. I looked at him instead of my notepad to concentrate when he said his order this time.
“You. I'd like to have dinner with you tonight.”
I saw his mouth move, and I’d heard the words, so this must be a dream. That’s where I’ve seen him before!
I turned and looked around the mostly empty restaurant, out the window where traffic kept moving. Damn, this one seems so freaking real too.
“What’s today?” I asked, thinking my dream wouldn’t have a set time or day.
“Ah, Tuesday."
Shit.
“What time is it?”
He looked down at the watch on his wrist. “It’s about quarter to ten. Are you okay?”
“No. I haven’t slept much lately and I’m having trouble figuring out if you’re really here or if I’m dreaming again.”
He chuckled softly. “I felt the same way when I saw you, but it wasn't from a lack of sleep.” What the heck did he mean by that?
“So, I’m really at work talking to you right now? Because I’ve never actually talked to you before.”
I remembered my dream now. There, he’d been watching me sadly as he stood in the rain in a similar dark suit, but he had never spoken to me.
“Yes,” he assured me with a smile, looking breathtakingly handsome.
“And when I asked you for your order you said you wanted ...” I didn’t want to say the words in case I'd imagined them.
“You. To go to dinner with me. Tonight preferably.”
My mouth fell open again.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have been so forward. Are you seeing someone, because I didn’t see a wedding ring?”
My mouth still wouldn’t work so I just shook my head no.
“Oh good,” he said. “So, dinner?”
Why the hell not. This probably wasn’t real anyway. I nodded.
“Great. Where would you like to go? I’m new in town so I don’t really know what’s around.”
Oh no, that would take words. I didn’t have words right now.
After a minute of silence he said, “How about I just meet you here and we can figure it out then?”
I nodded again. “Okay,” I squeaked out.
“Seven o’clock work for you?”
What time did I get off today? Three? Four? It was definitely by six and that would give me time to go home and shower and get ready. Shit, what am I doing planning to get ready for a date that's going on in a dream?
“Sure.”
“Okay, now with that out of the way, I think I’m ready for breakfast. Could I get a stack of pancakes, two scrambled eggs and an order of bacon?”
I was still holding my pen and paper so I wrote down his order then under it "date at seven o’clock" in case this wasn’t a dream and I forgot. I didn't even know his name and I’d agreed to go on a date with him.
I swallowed and tried to get my mouth to finally work.
“I should probably get your name since I've agreed to go on a date with you tonight, if this is really happening.”
“It’s Tom. Tom Adams,” he said smiling again.
“I’m Liz, but I think I’ve already told you that. Actually, it’s Elizabeth Maddox, but everyone calls me Liz. My mom is the only one, I mean, my mom was the only one who ever called me Elizabeth,” I rambled, then cringed at how much it hurt thinking about her.
“It’s nice to meet you Elizabeth,” he said using my full name. It sounded really nice to hear someone, especially him, use it again. I couldn’t help but smile.
“You too, Tom. I’ll be right back with your order,” I said before walking quickly away. I needed time to myself to figure out what the hell had just happened.

Five Star Review of Hemy (Walk of Shame #2) by Victoria Ashley

Okay, I admit that the sexy cover is what led me to check out this book on Amazon. After reading the sample I was definitely hooked. Victoria Ashley knows how to write erotica, and this book had some of the hottest sex scenes I've ever read.
Hemy has a dark past, so dark that he numbs himself out on drugs to try and forget. The one person that's always been there for him, Onyx (yes, the names of the characters are strange) is fed up with trying to save him. She sees he's hopeless, and only going to drag her down with him.
After Onyx leaves Hemy eventually stops using drugs, and instead loses himself in women. As a male stripper, he has no problem finding an abundance of warm bodies, but there's still only one women he wants.
When Hemy finds out Onyx is back in town after being away for four years, he'll stop at nothing to get her back. Onyx refuses to let Hemy break her heart again, but she's not over him, and can't resist him no matter how hard she tries.
After the two finally give in to each other, Onyx's secret she's been keeping from Hemy may push him away for good.
For only .99 at Amazon, you won't be disappointed with this read! I give it five stars!

This is a stand alone story, but I'm planning to go back and read the first book in the series as soon as I get the chance.

I rubbed my hands down her back, grabbing her ass and raising it for her to wrap her legs around my waist. My lips and tongue went down her neck while I warned her what I wanted to do. “Kate, if you stay with me then my door is going to be wide open all night. I want him to hear you scream when I go down on you and every time you come when I fuck you. I want to be in you for hours, however long it takes for me to get over my anger, drinking from you while I'm inside you, and I really don’t give a shit if he sees us. I want to make damn sure that he knows he’s never going to touch you or fuck you again.” “We can do anything you want, Sam,” she said, and then it was on. My mouth swallowed hers and our tongues became urgent as I carried her to my bed, not giving a fuck that we were still dripping wet. Laying her down I wasted no time kissing a trail from her breasts to stomach, not letting myself get distracted from my destination. My need for her almost made me frantic, before I decided I'd rather frustrate her by going slowly and deliberately. I wanted to make her beg me for it like she'd begged him. Spreading her thighs I licked one long stroke between her legs."Oh God yes!" she moaned, as she squirmed. I moved my hands up to hold her hips down then kissed and licked the inside of her thighs and low on her pelvis, everywhere around where she wanted me to go, before I thrust my tongue into her center once more. Her hands went to my hair as she tried to keep my mouth on her."Sam! Please don't stop," she gasped as her back arched. I gave her more of what she was begging for before pulling back again. "Did you scream his name when he fucked you?" I asked, as I continued to torture her with teasing stops and starts."No, oh!" she moaned as her pelvis tried to come off the bed. My hands on her made that impossible"Was his mouth here?" I asked her. Then, with a thrust of my tongue, I showed her exactly where I meant. "No, you're the only one ... oh fuck that feels good!" After that the only sounds she made were wordless screams and moans before she came. I couldn’t wait any longer to get in her, wanting to feel her warm wetness on my dick before her spasms stopped, then bring her again and again. My anger had been replaced with a need to possess her each and every way possible. “Roll over baby,” I told her as I raised up on my knees. She slowly moved to her stomach, while still trying to catch her breath. I pulled her by her legs across the bed to me, then spread them as I climbed up behind her. Pulling her hips up, I slid into her with one long, slow, deep thrust. When she cried out loud and sudden I thought I’d been too rough.“Did I hurt you?” I asked, unable to pull out of her unless she ordered me too. “No! Don’t stop!” Thank God, because I wasn't sure if I could. The way she felt around me was too good. I pulled her hips back and pushed into her at the same time. Each stroke was deeper and harder than the last. Kate cried out with every thrust, longer and louder each time. When she came screaming again, her insides tightening around my dick was the best fucking feeling in the world.About that time I heard the bastard’s bedroom door open. I knew he was watching, but I didn’t give a shit. I wanted him to see us so he’d lose whatever fucking fantasies he had about ever being with her again. My fangs were out and ready to go into Kate’s neck that was oh-so-close. Sliding my hands from her hips around to cup her breasts, I raised her up off the bed and pulled her back against my chest. "Kate?" I asked as I licked down the side of her neck."Yes," she moaned. I felt her sharp intake of breath when I quickly struck her. I sucked while I kept pounding and pouring into her until there was nothing left in me.

A sexy series you don't want to miss!
There are five books in Entangled's Wedding Dare series, and I read them all in one weekend. I started with the bridesmaids books, and had to go back and read the book that started it all.

Although Dare to Resist by Laura Kaye is the beginning of this series, it wasn't my favorite. This is the story of Kady and the man she has been crushing on ever since she can remember - her older brother's best friend, Colton. Three years before the book takes place, Kady and Colton had a hot make-out session at Colton's welcome home from the military party. Suddenly Colton put the brakes on everything and ran out on Kady, leaving her hot, bothered and confused.
Fast forward to the present day, Colton and Kady meet up again, only this time as business adversaries. When a monsoon hits the military town they are interviewing in, the two end up sharing a hotel room. As you can expect, things heat up between them and they finally give in to the chemistry.

Baiting the Maid of Honor by Tessa Bailey picks up with Kady's best friend, the uptight Julie, who bumps heads with bad boy groomsman and former SWAT leader, Reed during the wedding weekend. They eventually give in and bump uglies too, and when they do it is smoking hot, leaving them both wanting more even though they think they're all wrong for each other!

Falling for the Groomsman by Jen McLauglin is the story between Christine and her best friend's older brother, Tyler. Years before they meet up again at Colton and Kady's wedding, Tyler escorted his sister and her friend on vacation. One night, things got out of hand and Tyler ended up taking Christine's virginity, and then bolting on her without any explanation. Now the two of them are stuck at the wedding together, and Christine is planning to make Tyler pay for hurting her all those years ago, the only problem is she's still not over him.

In Best Man with Benefits by Samanthe Beck you follow Logan, a workaholic, who makes a promise to his buddy Colton to make sure Colton's shy little sister, Sophie, doesn't spend the wedding weekend alone in her room. Logan tries not to think of his friend's sister in a sexual way, but Sophie does everything she can to get Logan to see her as a sexy, grown woman. After things start heating up between the two of them, Sophie finds out Logan was only spending time her as a favor to her brother, which causes all sorts of doubts to creep in.

Seducing the Bridesmaid by Katee Robert is a funny, romantic story about how the big city girl, Regan, tries to seduce a groomsman, while at the same time being seduced by the sexy Brock. Brock's southern charm flops with Regan, leaving him scrambling to try and figure out how exactly he can win the stubborn woman's heart, and keep her away from the other groomsmen.

What I loved about this series is the ability of several authors to write separate love stories that all intertwine together. Since most of these characters are in group events at various times during the wedding weekend, there is plenty of crossover that has to line up in all the books. These authors were able to pull it off so brilliantly that I couldn't stop reading until I found out how each couple finally got their own happy ending.
Honestly, I'd only give probably one out of all five of these books four stars, therefore since they are all so awesome I give the entire series a five star rating.
