Lola Has anybody read: Gone or I'd tell you i love you, but then I'd have to kill you or Life as we knew it.
The first and last one are soooooo creepy, the second one is just really good and has a lot of girl power!

message 452: by Ashley (new)

Ashley i like the Harry Potter and I am number four books I'll never be tired of them :)

message 453: by Brucus (new)

Brucus Scriptus Read anything you like, and put it down if you get tired of it. Doris Lessing gave that advice in a talk at Durham University, UK. She ought to know - she wrote The Golden Notebook and 4-Gated City in her Martha Quest series.

message 461: by Angeline (new)

Angeline Christina wrote: "I can't believe Twilight has more votes than Harry Potter. That is just wrong."

i totally agreee with you .... harry potter just pushes its limits beyond excellence..... one can read the books over and over again such that even the hardcover books are tattered ..... twilight is good for mere light reading!!

message 478: by Leslie (last edited May 27, 2012 07:48AM) (new)

Leslie Eleanor Haha this is completely off the whole Twilight/Harry Potter books 'war' going on but I'm thinking Lightning Thief ;) I find this book to be a more fit pick for young readers than, say, Harry Potter because even though it's fictitious, it has mythology that a young adult learns in school; when I was reading the book for the first time, I was also reading Odysseus, a Greek mythology epic poem, in my English class. My teacher informed us that it was a required part of the curriculum. Young adults have a contemporary fiction story of a boy with familiar problems of ADHD and Dyslexia, but is also the son of a Greek God; they get a mythology lesson without realizing it, really. I've read all three, HP, Twilight, & Percy Jackson, and I'm an HP fan to the end, but for young readers, I think Lightning thief would be a more appropriate book.

message 479: by Hollycat (new)

Hollycat FORCE - Shawna Logue
For something that's new, in a similar genre to the series: Twilight, LOTR, Hunger Games and Divergent, and is well written, try Shawna Logue's 'Force'. She's published 3 books in the series, so far, and I understand she's just finished the 4th and is getting ready to publish it online. Get them at 99 cents each on Amazon before the price goes up!

Maybe you should GET A LIFE!!!!!! How would you feel if someone like your husband (if you even have one) walked out of your life without telling you ANYTHING!!!! You should try it sometime (if it hasn't happened already)!!!!!!!! I would feel sorry if I was a guy and married to you. I love Harry Potter but the Twilight saga is an infinity times better.

message 489: by Jessie (new)

message 490: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Yeah, sure I've read the twilight books, and they were okay, but come on people, it's getting old. I never get sick of my favorite books. That's why twilight isn't a favorite.

message 491: by Eman (new)

Eman Karmi i read both of books , i think harry potter is waaaayyy better but in twilight it doesn't contain a main subject and it was a little bit boring and stupid :)

message 496: by Maryn (new)

Maryn Leichtnam Okay, in reference to the huge Harry Potter/Twilight debate above, you all need to get over it. I have read them both multiple times and they are both amazing YA books. Probably some of my favorites. I don't understand why there needs to be a huge fight over which one is better. Grow up people.

message 500: by Stardesu (new)

Stardesu “Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. … The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.” - Stephen King
