Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I would leave out the chilli. And the squid.

message 104: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Good morning all. I see this thread has taken wings!
The Thread Owner asked will - about half a page ago, whether Safkhet wouldn't be interested in his stuff because he's already self published? Is that the case? And would they be interested in his stand-alone Sci-fi?

Just nosey, me!

message 105: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Ignite, I don't think they would take something that's already been released. But they will look at anything stand alone.

I do know that their schedule is now full/allocated for 2013 though, and I've had other works turned down by Safkhetbecause they didn't fit their catalogue, and the children's fantasy novels put on ice for the same reason...

But they are very open to Sci fi submissions.

message 106: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Just for info Ignite, Safkhet now receive an average of 80 unsolicited submissions a week - every week. That's what the guidelines are for - to help them weed out those authors who can't be bothered to read them carefully, without having to read their work at all. The other publishers & agents will be the same, or worse. David did well actually getting the courtesy of a reply.

message 107: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks for pushing that for me Ignite. It's clear now. All the agents/publishers I've approached sent a reply, Will, so I'll take that as a good sign even though I remain indi. When the numbers start climbing they'll come looking for me. If I live that long (1 a day so far - but it's keeping the doctor at bay; or is that apples?).

try deciding whether this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPL3O7...

is better than the classic album version :-)

message 109: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments That's easy. I prefer the version on 'Pulse'.

Jim | 21812 comments Will wrote: "That's easy. I prefer the version on 'Pulse'."

and 'Pulse' is?

message 111: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments The DVD of a live gig. Earls court, I think offhand?

message 113: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Will wrote: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8wXYF..."

listening to it as I type thanks, it is good

message 114: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Get the dvd.

The solo on Numb made me cry the first time i heard it.

message 115: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments you're talking to someone without a dvd player (cause there's no telly).

message 116: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments No Telly!!! what do you do when you want to get to sleep?

message 117: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments No wonder you end up writing fantasy about the middle ages, JIm.

Plus, you miss out on some decent things. I'm supposed to be writing a tense scene, and dancing on ice is distracting. Well, bits of it, anyway

message 118: by David (last edited Jan 27, 2013 11:43AM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Which bits do you think he means Jim ;) Scantilly clad bits me thinks

after the first year or so you find you don't miss it. Indeed you find you 'know' about all the programmes anyway because people tell you about them.

But actually it gives you time to actually meet real people and talk to them ;-)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Will wrote: "David can't be a group member until he's been dragged to the Dungeon though, can he?"

So, this dungeon. . . When do I have to go in? And how long do I have to stay in there?

message 122: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You just have to annoy Gingerlily. That bit's easy!

message 123: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments You stay in till she lets you out! (That is, if...)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It depends how nicely he squeals!

message 125: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments On a scale of one to aaaaarrrrggghhhh?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yes Will, you need to work on your squealing. Its not up to standard yet.

message 127: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments But I do a nice *terrified shake*. Doesn't that make up for it?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And your backing away and sidling along the wall is coming along nicely.

message 129: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments That's nice, thank you.

I'll just slip away and practise a bit more on my own, whilst you attend to david.

message 130: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Hi Gingerlily, I understand you are in charge of the dungeon. Is it some kind of dominatrix role and am I likely to need a supply of sticking plasters?

message 131: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments She's very good - leaves no discernible marks...

message 132: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments On the outside, anyway.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments come down these steps here and I'll give you the tour. I'm just oiling the whips...

message 134: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Ok then, but is it extra virgin. I only use extra virgin

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't know if you can get whip oil in extra virgin.

message 136: by Jim (new)

Better for joints than smoking them

message 139: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments It is good for joints: Dizzle a little on and role in herbs and crushed pepper-corns, sear in a pan then put in a hot oven . . . We are talkning beef aren't we?

Didn't expect such luxurious treatment in the dungeon.

message 140: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Haha! You lot slay me - I do love you all! :)

message 141: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Hi Ignite, haven't bumped into youfor a while. Naturally I meant Dizzle. I am trying miss, honest.

message 142: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments here, who's killed off Ignite?

her ghost is complaining someone slayed her!

message 143: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Slay Will: present tense: must still be alive.

That might save me from spelling Drizzle wrong

message 144: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've been away making Lemon Dizzle Cake. As our friend would say - Phnark!

message 145: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Or is it perfect, past present, progressive :S

message 146: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Dizzle sounds better. Perhaps 'r' should be dropped from more words.
