David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Could I perhaps email it to you, for you to upload, see if it makes any difference?

message 202: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments We can but try! I'll pm you my email, or do you already have it from your last books?

message 203: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments No,I don't have it, Ignite sent them to you

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Is it all about whether it's a gif or a j-peg. If it's one try switching to the other maybe.

Cheers

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I just tried uploading it, can you take a look and see if it worked?

message 207: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments This is the cover as I see it on your book page:

BTW, try setting the "This topic is about" in the top of this thread to Alloria - you ought to see the thumbnail...

message 208: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments David, as a thought: try clearing your browser's cache - that might make the cover show up.

message 209: by Adam (new)

Adam (adammannan) | 133 comments Allora's cover appears fine for me too. Good luck with the book, David.

message 210: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments At least it seems to be working for everyone else, David!

message 211: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Seems so. I'm working at the library at the moment, and can't see it on their computer either. A friend of mine can't see it on his, so I wonder if it's a regional thing.

message 212: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Could be cause you are the author, seems weird but that's the only difference between you and everyone else!

message 213: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments No, I've tried searching without longing on, on different computers too. I've emailed goodreads about it, see what they come up with.

message 214: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Well it looks good to me

message 215: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments So It's everyone then, except me, people who live near me, and the libraries near me. Strange! Thanks for the approval, Jim.

Obviously they felt that if you got to see it, you'd swell up with pride and it might be dangerous for you :-)

message 217: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments So, it's a health and safety issue?

message 218: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments David wrote: "So, it's a health and safety issue?"

yep. elf and safety strikes again

message 219: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Pesky elfs, they've been trying to get in to my writing for ages! So they pitch my picture out of spite. I'm not letting them in; it's not that kind of fantasy

message 220: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments David wrote: "Pesky elfs, they've been trying to get in to my writing for ages! So they pitch my picture out of spite. I'm not letting them in; it's not that kind of fantasy"

I confess to writing fantasy without elves, dwarrows, hobbitsess or even dark lords.

Mind you, dark lords have never been the same for me after reading Will's books about the banned underground

message 221: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments If you want a great Dark Lord book (sorry to hijack your thread David!) you need to read Paul Dale's The Dark Lord's Handbook Dead funny!

message 222: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments If it's relevant (and it is), I wouldn't call it hijacking. I scared to take a look, my reading list is too long already

message 223: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hijacking an authors thread is quite common here, but we mean well.

Not quite a dark lord, but I did download the evil overlord list

The Top 100 Things I'd Do
If I Ever Became An Evil Overlord
1. My Legions of Terror will have helmets with clear plexiglass visors, not face-concealing ones.
2. My ventilation ducts will be too small to crawl through.
3. My noble half-brother whose throne I usurped will be killed, not kept anonymously imprisoned in a forgotten cell of my dungeon.
4. Shooting is not too good for my enemies.
5. The artifact which is the source of my power will not be kept on the Mountain of Despair beyond the River of Fire guarded by the Dragons of Eternity. It will be in my safe-deposit box. The same applies to the object which is my one weakness.
6. I will not gloat over my enemies' predicament before killing them.
7. When I've captured my adversary and he says, "Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all about?" I'll say, "No." and shoot him. No, on second thought I'll shoot him then say "No."
8. After I kidnap the beautiful princess, we will be married immediately in a quiet civil ceremony, not a lavish spectacle in three weeks' time during which the final phase of my plan will be carried out.
9. I will not include a self-destruct mechanism unless absolutely necessary. If it is necessary, it will not be a large red button labelled "Danger: Do Not Push". The big red button marked "Do Not Push" will instead trigger a spray of bullets on anyone stupid enough to disregard it. Similarly, the ON/OFF switch will not clearly be labelled as such.
10. I will not interrogate my enemies in the inner sanctum -- a small hotel well outside my borders will work just as well.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Very good. My baddy has broken at least a couple of these.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I did have more mail Jim. I'm reading it now.

message 233: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Can you pass it on? I'm curious to know what the other 90% says.

message 234: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments David wrote: "Can you pass it on? I'm curious to know what the other 90% says."

You got mail as well.
Perhaps I should just past the whole darn document into the box here :-)

Bit worried, all these potential dark lords about!

Jim | 21812 comments Ignite wrote: "I did have more mail Jim. I'm reading it now."

Sits very quiet so not to disturb anyone

message 236: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Sadly, my longest reads are in the evening. I was out last night, I'm hosting a meeting here tonight and we've got friends coming for dinner tomorrow night. Weekend's free though! Yay!

message 237: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments If I was a dark lord I'd have a big castle with turrets and make all my prisoners dress in pretty princess dresses and Prince Charming outfits then we'd watch Disney movies all day :o)

message 238: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Cruel and unusual punishment Jud!

message 239: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks Jim. I'm off to work now, so shall read it later.

Jud, other than the dressing up part and the big castle... ok the film part, I think my daughters fall into your description of dark lords

message 240: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments ALL daughters do!
(I have one and I am one!)

message 241: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Mwahahahahaha

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Would you not be a Dark Lady Jud?

message 243: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's not the same, ladying it over people though, is it Rosemary?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments No - just doesn't have the same ring, does it!

message 245: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments I think Galadriel's speech about whether she should become a Dark Lady in the book LotR was perhaps her best lines

message 246: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Instead of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Beautiful and terrible something something All would love me and despair!

message 247: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments something something... LOL!

message 248: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Something, something, dark side. Something, something, complete.

message 249: by Tim (new)
