Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) You have come to the right place for the history lover, Fausto.......you will find much here to make you happy!! Since you didn't specify a particular era or topic, why not browse our home page and find things that catch your attention.

Home Page

There are many other folders where you can discuss topics that interest you.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Jason | 1 comments Hi everyone, my name is Jason. I live in Evanston, Il. My reading interests primarily revolve around the American Presidency and its history. My two favorite US Presidents are FDR and JFK, but I am fascinated by Richard Nixon - a psycho/sociopath if there ever was one! Otherwise my favorite eras of Study are from the Roaring Twenties up to Watergate/Ford/Carter. I also like to read books on Hollywood stars and historical fiction.

2015/16 finds me trying to study up on the lesser known wars (1812, Mexican-American, Spanish-American primarily) and my lesser-known Presidents (Polk, Teddy R., Taft, Harding, Coolidge, Ford, Carter).

I have always loved History from a young age and I have been fascinated with many aspects of History, I can spend hours in small villages in Europe wandering around and finding the most fascinating things. I have always preferred to read books based on true facts and always gravitate to History books.

It is fascinating to read about what has transpired and I particularly like European History. I sometimes suffer from lack of ME time and that has an impact on my stages of lack of reading.

I look forward to being a member of this Group.

Gary Schantz (allamericanhistory) I am very glad to join this group as I am an avid fan of history. Four years ago, I was laid off from my job and to keep myself busy in between interviews leading to landing a new job, I started a history book collection. The collection started out as books written by or about presidents.

So far I have collected about 200 books of which I have read about 50+ so far. My goal is to eventually collect and read every book ever written by every president (I am not counting diaries as they are quite time consuming not to mention a bit boring.)

Also I want to collect and read at least 2-3 books very good books written about every president. This is a collection I plan to leave to my son when the time comes.

Jill, I purchased a new computer and with the transition of information something went wrong, I had an IT guy dealing with this but still certain things have not been the same, I have tried many times to locate my original goodreads profile but no luck! It is Spring, the weather here is very changeable, we can have 4 seasons in one day. Christmas day can be 110F or 60F. I look forward to participating in this Group.

My curiosity and interest in history led me to goodreads. Fortunately, I found this kind of group here. Honestly, I haven't finished or started any book yet about history. I don't know what book to start with. Do you have any suggestions? I'm planning to read some books about World War I and II. As of now, I just started collecting visual history books. For me, they are the written museums. You stroll around by reading them. As I always believed, going deep into history is the most authentic time travel one can experience. I hope this group will be able to help me appreciate history more. Thanks! :)

Christopher (tophers) Hello Everyone -

I've been on Goodreads for a number of years and came across this group while searching the Goodreads group. While I can't say I have read a lot of history books, I do enjoy history thru visits to museums and films/video series. I do have a lot of history books on my to read list though. Just finished David McCullough's Wright Brothers and really enjoyed that. So I am looking forward to discussing these history books with other people who have this same type of interest in this group. Also I look forward to reading the groups reviews on books to see what may interest me.

Little bit about me: I live in Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. Lived in Michigan all my life but travel around quite a bit.

Teri (teriboop) Welcome Charlene to The History Book Club. You are at the right place to find lots of suggestions and great discussions.

We have a variety of folders which may interest you. Why don't you start with our home page and look through the current book reads and discussion threads:

The History Book Club

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books that you mention should look:

Truman by David McCullough by David McCullough David McCullough

Kim Hathorn | 1 comments Hi there, my name is Kim and I'm from Baton Rouge, LA, USA. I'm an avid reader, and my favorite books revolve around history and I also enjoy a good mystery, whether historical or contemporary. Although I enjoy learning just about any type of history, medieval, renaissance and early modern political and social history are my favorites. I also have a special interest in the Balkan-Ottoman wars (14th-17th cent.); also Central Europe and the Byzantine Empire as well.
