Welcome to the group, Norma--we are glad you found us. We have lots of discussions on all periods of history so please feel free to join in.

As you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post. Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book and/or author and increases the readability of your post. This is how books you mention should look:

Augustus The Life of Rome's First Emperor by Anthony Everitt by Anthony Everitt Anthony Everitt

Clifford Luebben My name is Clifford. I am from Washington state, USA. I am a customer service representative at Amazon.com, husband, and father of a beautiful baby girl.

My interest in history goes back longer than I remember. As a Christian child my favorite Bible books were the books of history. I also loved historical fiction during those years of development. Now I prefer my works to be non-fiction. I especially like biographies, Church history, American history, World history & music history

Michael (lisantra) | 1 comments Hello everyone! I'm Michael, in Arizona. I was at one time a grad student in Middle Eastern & Islamic studies. But, nowadays I write software for a living. Nevertheless, my love of history has not dwindled, as testified to my coworkers who witness me at lunch reading academic histories of obscure places like Roman Arabia.

My general interests are:
areas = Middle East, Mediterranean Region, Central Asia;
time periods = Origins of Civilization, Late Antiquity, Early Islamic Era, 19th century France & Italy, the various Silk Roads eras (yes, plural!).

I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to most of the places I'm interested in, both on my own and as a Marine in my former career.

Thanks, and I look forward to interacting with like-minded history buffs :-)

Hi,

My name is Joe and I am not exactly new to the group, but I'm putting my information out here at the suggestion of the moderators. I live in Wisconsin, and I'm an engineer by trade. I have a strong interest in history, but mostly my area of concentration is ancient history - especially dealing with the low-tech construction and problem solving methods.

Pastor Jeff I am Pastor Jeff Keck of PETRA Pentecostal Church. I live in San Diego, CA and I enjoy learning and studying the lives of those who have gone before me. My basic philosophical approach to life is one of the Ancient/Future. Looking back to the wisdom and sometimes the missteps of others helps me to understand the challenges that lie ahead of me in my own journey.

I am Michael, born of American Parents in Italy, I carry dual citizenship. I have lived in Naples, DC, MA and CA but feel at home in many other areas, and I am a retired superhero. hey its a good gig but difficult on the knees.

Because I read a lot of genres it was difficult to pick a group to call home but historical Fiction and History are high on my list for pleasure reading along with Sci-Fi.

Sci Fi is a difficult genre to call home.

A little time spent looking through groups told me this was the one to hang my hat in.

I do look forward to perusing this group more thoroughly... and soon.

thanks for being here.

Marianna Randazzo (goodreadscommariannarandazzo) Hello, My my name is Marianna. I am a teacher, a writer and an avid reader. My first real books were the World Book Encyclopedias. They were treated with such reverence in our home that we had to wash our hands before opening the golden lined, leather bound volumes. It was there I was introduced to history through the fascinating biographies of Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Helen Keller, and other fabulous women that shaped this nation. It was there I also learned about the Civil War, WWII, a war my parents lived through and the Korean War, a conflict not so far removed from my generation. I am very interested in reading and writing about history, especially through the voices of those whom have experienced life from different generations.
