ARCHIVE - PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF ~

My name is Matt. I’m from North Carolina. I’m currently finishing a BA in History, and part of the reason that I use Goodreads and joined this group was to keep track of some of the books I am reading for my history degree. I also enjoy reading popular history books, biographies, and science fiction for fun. Glad to be here.

Thanks for the recommendation and look forward to the upcoming books to read.
Have a great day!

I’m Emma, mother of 2 and wife. I’m from England.
I studied history (ww2) and enjoyed it.
I also enjoy reading about British history (specifically the Stuart Period)
I am open to any history (fiction, non fiction) as I feel I don’t currently read as much history as I used too.

My name is Alexis. I recently joined the History Book Club, currently residing in Baltimore. I'm an avid history reader and currently interested in Central European wars, China, and the European middle ages.
I'm currently reading:

and recently finished:

Sincerely,
Alexis

I've been a member of this group for a while now and cannot remember if I ever introduced myself. My name is Diana Thomas, I'm in my mid 40's and I am disabled so I can usually find plenty of time to read. I went back to college in 2015 and received an Associates degree in history. I'm currently working on my Bachelors. My favorite history to read about is Early American and British history especially the Tudor and Victorian eras, though I've recently started reading more about the Stuarts. Because of college classes, most of my reading time is taken up by schoolwork. I'm currently taking an Indiana history class which is interesting, but my favorite class this semester is a German film history course which is a unique way to look at the social history of Germany.

Hello. My name is James. My interests are First Nations History and Archaeology, especially the Great Lakes Nations of North America. This includes ethnography, auto-history, biography, and all forms of history considered 'primary documentation'.

Welcome to the group, Alexis! These sound like great titles. I'm particularly interested in the one about the Balkans as my grandfather was from this region.

I hope to learn from many of you and maybe make a friend or two along the way.

Ryan - I am going to be setting up the threads for the Presidential read this month - I got behind - we are all volunteers.
Right now we have Evicted opened up in the buddy read section - The Return starts next week and we have Becoming the week later - we will set it up by the end of the month.

My name is Yen and I am from Vietnam. I am studying in the US by scholarship and sponsorship. I do love to read books in the library, because I have no good conditions to buy. I have experienced exciting and challenging situations and therefore I hope to read many books and discuss about them.
I am so glad to participate with you guys.

Sorry for not posting sooner but I am godawful at introductions.
I'm Cari.
I've loved history since the 4th grade, particularly the US Civil War.
I also love ancient history, the World Wars, and a myriad of random topics that tickle my fancy at the moment.
So...hi!
Glad you joined us, Hillary. This is the place for the avid history buff.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

My name is Michelle. Reading is a passion of mine and in the last couple of years I have found great joy in studying history. I am slowly working my way through Susan Wise Bauer’s Well Educated Mind list and the more I read through it the more history I want to read! I am a busy Mom of three at the moment so I do not have as much time to read as I would like but I do like to try and keep up with this club (haven’t so far!) 😀
Michelle

Currently I am reading:

before reading:

When reading books from Ancient Greece, I will borrow my son's textbooks for the corresponding history.
I haven't found history books to read along with ancient Indian and Chinese philosophy. The earliest Indian writing on my list is from 1500 BCE, and the earliest Chinese writing is from 500 BCE.

I already started reading the History of my own country but I plan to continue with other countries.
Now that I have my e-reader makes it easier to read books and cheaper (no shipping cost).

I’m Emily, residing in Indiana, USA. I’m excited to participate in this book club! I’m an avid non-fiction reader and have enjoyed history since I was young. Lately, I have been gravitating toward books on the suffragist and civil rights movements in the US, and American political history in general. I have also developed an interest in Russian history, from the end of the Romanovs to the present. If I had to spend the remainder of my life studying a specific topic, I would analyze the psychology and sociology behind political movements across the ages.

My name is Blue and I currently reside in the southern US. I’m a translator and political Scientist/junkie. I’m the same with History. Those who don’t know History are easily swayed.
History favs: South/Central America; Iberian Peninsula; Irish; Russian. The history of the Mafia. Biographies. As a Wisdom Elder (I don’t do ‘old’), I’ve been reading voraciously for many years, but just got my degrees in 2015. I’m looking forward to the interaction, learning and sharing; and finding some new books!

Right now I am reading

My name is Daniel and I come from the UK. Reading is a great passion of mine and with the high target of non-fiction books to read this year, I'm trying to expand into reading more History. Hoping to find some recommendations from this group :)

My name is Jerome. I'm from Tennessee. I have also lived in North Carolina, West Virginia, Massachusetts, and Germany. I joined last year while reading

and parts of

with the group, but I did not post my introduction on this thread.
I am interested in a wide variety of topics, including US and Germany (history and politics), soccer, and psychology (particularly PTSD and addictions).

I was born in Argentina from a Uruguayan Mother ( with French Spanish and Portuguese origins ) and a Father with Polish origins. I have studied in Italy, and currently work in Belgium.
My grandfather lives in Israel and my grandmother is for the Palestinian cause.
My aunt is Russian from the URSS and my boyfriend is from South Africa.
It wasn’t until a few years ago that my diversified environment hit me as interesting and started looking around trying to understand their history.
I love books.
I love arguments.
And I love differences because I think they enrich our world.
Let’s get the books coming .
♥️🌏⚡️

Laura here and excited about joining in the group discussions! I really enjoy Eastern European and US history! Also I live in the USA.
Thanks!

My name is Bob. I live in Colorado. I enjoy reading about history including ancient times as well as more recent events. I am interested in gaining perspective about other cultures and how people lived in the past. I look forward to reading posts on this site as I'm always looking for interesting books to read.
Thanks,
Bob P

My name is Tarmo and I live in Finland. I retired five years ago and now there has been time for reading. Just love historical fiction. I am interested in history on general level; Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Middle Ages in Europe, The Finnish Civil War etc. Because during my working life I travelled a lot in Africa, I have started to read African literature as well so that I won´t forget how it was in Africa.

Reading incessantly, my passions include history, especially on the American Revolution, and genealogy. I have at least 8 grandfather Patriots, mostly from NC and VA. Thomas Jefferson is a 1st cousin with direct lineage to the Jamestown founders.
