Haven't read Karen Rose in a long time. Saw that other people found words in this book and wanted to check it out. It was a great serial killer book after the fluffy book I read right before. Loved all the twists and turns and couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read another one.

Destroyer Angel (Anna Pigeon, #17) by Nevada Barr Destroyer Angel by Nevada Barr (Anna Pigeon #17) ✔ 4/22 4 stars

This series is probably my most favorite one and this was the new book released this month. The main character is a National Park Ranger who always seems to get caught up in some kind of crime investigation within the parks. Nevada Barr has the knack for being so descriptive that you feel like you are there in the park. Her books have made me want to visit the parks. I highly recommend this series.

Alligator - Quinscent and sinister as ALLIGATORS, logs lay beneath a sea of ash. page 171

Boat - She'd boarded a fishing BOAT tied to the dock page 32

Dancer - "Possessed by an Irish clog DANCER" page 112

Monologue - She sat immobile while she was treated to a MONOLOGUE about the quality of the food page 59

Prey - Like a mountain lion keeping track of PREY, she ranged to each side and ahead of them. page 134

Silence - In blessed solitude and SILENCE Anna drifted page 16

Bridge - Spilt milk, blood under the BRIDGE, this was the hand he'd been dealt. page 53

Hide and Seek by James Patterson - read 4/24/14

Rating:
Review: Terribly flat dialogue and unrealistic situations. Characters were cardboard. Heroine was unlikable and stupid.

Patterson should refrain from trying to write a female main character. At 6% in our heroine gives this description of herself, (view spoiler)

I finished this only because I committed myself to read it for a group reading activity. Being tortured on the rack would have been easier. Hide and Seek has since been deleted from my Kindle - permanently and the hardcovers I had picked up previously at the $1 per book library sale are sitting by the door in a box - ready to be donated back to the library for some other fool to pick up.

The author seems to have a low opinion of women and is, in my opinion, a total ass! Nuff said.....

Week 3
Claimed:9/10

Madame Pamplemousse and Her Incredible Edibles (Madame Pamplemousse, #1) by Rupert Kingfisher April 23rd
Rate : 4 stars
This was something I bought by mistake on my Nook but I ended up reading it and really enjoying it . It was extremely short but it was very similar to the movie Ratatouille but with a young girl and her mean uncle. She is a natural chef and her jealous Uncle banishes her to a life of just doing dishes. One day, he sends her to buy some pate and she enters a very strange shop in Paris and the chef made everything from these magical ingredients like sea serpents and things. So the Uncle was going to try and lie and say he made it along with trying to steal the recipe and they come up with a plan of sorts. This is a short fun read with magic, and cooking and a really cute white ally cat with a pirates patch . :O)
pg. 3Crocodile "..Scorpion Tails in Smoked Garlic Oil, Crocodile Kidneys in Blueberry Wine, Cobra Brains in Black Butter..."
pg. 14Dancer"He had several spies among his staff and one of them, the small, thin waiter who moved like a dancer..."
pg. 14Flute""When he finally spoke, the presenter was a alarmed to hear a soft, piping voice that sounded more like a flute or a recorder than a human being."
pg. 21Silence "Lard raised his hands to silence them."

Chanel Bonfire by Wendy Lawless April 24th
Rate: 3 stars
This was a true story of a woman's life growing up with a mentally unstable and abusive mother that made them travel around place to place and separate from their father. At times her and her sister would take advantage of the situation but most of the time they were just trying to survive her madness. This is a sad story for everyone involved because every single person lost a ton because of the mother. It was interesting to read but it wasn't my favorite.
pg. 13 Bridge " Her birth parents had a drunken quarrel on a bridge one night somewhere in Iowa.."
pg.66Boat "In the taxi, on the way to the boat, in an effort to beat back our building emotions and trembling lips.."
pg.174Monologue "I went in and performed my monologues in front of a table filled with silent onlookers."

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh April 25th
Rate: 3 stars
This was basically two stories in one because you learn a lot about the meanings of certain flowers , which were very surprising and the other is a very sad story of a troubled youth going through the foster care system and then trying to live her life after. This is a very complicated story and how she struggled to understand love from others. This book made me think very differently about just throwing together a random bouquet or giving flowers as a gift now that I know the real meanings.
pg. 208Prey "Occasionally, I passed as overweight, but most of the time I still fell prey to curious hands."
pg. 47 Bee"..I imagined it to come from something natural, a waterfall, maybe, or a band of bees."
