Same! I've been wanting to read The Wreath for some time, and I haven't read Lonesome Dove since 2010.

Alright. I'll mark it down for then.

Terris and I are planning to read The Beautiful and Damned in April. Anyone else who would like to join would be most welcomed.

Pink, do you set up the thread or should I?

message 1205: by Pink (new)

Pink | 5491 comments We use existing discussion threads for books that are on our shelves. We read The Beautiful and Damned back in 2013, here's a link to the discussions. https://www.goodreads.com/group/comme... There are no comments at all on the spoiler thread, so you'll have it all to yourselves for now! I'll add your buddy read to the schedule with links too.

Thanks, Pink. Much appreciated.

message 1207: by katie (new)

katie | 52 comments Hey all, I nominated The Wreath in the New School category, don't forget to add your second so it makes it to the poll for June!

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If it doesn't win, I'll post here again to start the buddy read. Thanks all!

Ooh I might be up for a re-read of Dune in May, depending on other commitments

message 1209: by katie (new)

katie | 52 comments Hey folks, The Wreath is vying for the 5th spot in the poll for the June 2018 New School nomination.
If you want it to be in the poll for the June group read, go and second it now, or it might not make it!

Aubrey - where are you at in your reading schedule? I'm ready for The Invisible Bridge by next week.

message 1225: by Newly (new)

Newly Wardell | 172 comments if you're on the fence about doing a buddy read I completely suggest it . I was able to discover a completely different genre of books. I met a really cool Power reader who introduced me to Japanese Noir and it is amazing this Villain is the best book I've read all year. I wrote a review for it. gosh. I know self promo much. but do check out the book. but DONT read our challenge notes because she knows how to cover her spoiler notes and I don't. my notes are full of spoilers. so I'm gonna try to do that again. I've got two more books on my shelf clearing reading challenge and my readathon scavenger hunt. two books are

I’m interested in The Wreath during June - doesn’t look likely to win the poll...

message 1236: by katie (new)

katie | 52 comments The Wreath did not win the poll for June, so I would like to officially declare a buddy read for June!

Does anyone know if there is an old thread or if I should start a new one?

message 1237: by Pink (last edited May 04, 2018 12:34PM) (new)

Pink | 5491 comments We haven't read The Wreath before, so there are no discussion threads for it. Feel free to set them up and I'll add it to the schedule list :)

message 1238: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 5460 comments Don't know whether it's a good idea or not to combine them, but we did have a buddy read a while back of Kristin Lavransdatter, starting with The Wreath, here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 1239: by katie (new)

katie | 52 comments Thank you Pink and Kathleen!

It's good to know there was a buddy read of the whole series, but it probably makes sense to start a separate thread just for this book. I'll do that!

message 1240: by Terris (new)

Terris | 4388 comments Shali and I were planning to read The Hunchback of Notre-Dame in June. Anyone else interested?

message 1241: by Pink (new)

Pink | 5491 comments Ah, I didn't even know that The Wreath was the first book in that series. Since we have a thread and I've just checked to see there aren't many comments and none on the later books, I think it's okay to use that one.

message 1242: by J_BlueFlower (new)

J_BlueFlower (j_from_denmark) | 2268 comments I would like to join The Wreath in June. Depending on the first book, I will probably read all three.

I will kick off the discussion in June, thanks everybody!!

message 1245: by Luke (last edited May 09, 2018 06:26PM) (new)

Luke (korrick) If anyone's interested, the Literary Fiction by People of Color Group is currently hosting a group read of The Journey to the West, unabridged, starting today. Reading schedules are still being hashed out, but the monumental nature of this read guarantees everyone will be going very slowly and methodically through it. You can find the discussion here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 1246: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn | 720 comments It looks like The Return of the Soldier is not going to win in the polls again this month. Should we do a buddy read? Or keep nominating it until it wins?

I'd do a buddy read! It keeps getting nominated but doesn't win. It's on my list & I want to read it! I'm in :)

Ah, why didn't I see this before now! Then again, I am too busy with massive works by dead white males this year. :-/ Might just save that link so I can read the discussion when I do get to Journey to the West.
