Buddy Read? Requests here!

@Cynda, do you mean The Bevington Shakespeare? That one's been on my wishlist for so long, but it's really expensive. Bevington was a great scholar.
@John I'm actually now writing my thesis on Richard II and The Hollow Crown. Yes, they are direct adaptations of the play, really well done (I've only seen the first three so far), but Ben Wishaw as Richard II is something else!

I had a Riverside way back when I was at uni, but book mold got in it. And now I prefer Bevington. So okay, I accept.

I'd love to just go browsing through market stalls like in the movies, but a) I don't have the patience and b) I now buy my books for life and am consequently extremely picky about the specific edition of a work (especially with classics that need a lot of apparatus) and the condition of the book.

We have already read Wuthering Heights as a group. Use this thread for your buddy read and just continue on with the conversation.

Sorry, we use the old threads for existing books. There is also a non spoiler thread for the book that you can use: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

in our May reading plans.
Is there interest in a buddy read? I've just started it and think it's going to be a good one.

I have to start it by today or tomorrow because It's due back to the library in 5 days.

This would be a re-read for me, but I think I remember that we talked about it, and I would love to re-read it because it's been many years and then I can go on to the sequel. If I can find the book, I'll join. Such a good one!

that would be great Kathleen!

I've aded both of these to the buddy read schedule with links to the discussion threads :)

I wish I did, Brina. I happened to have picked up a copy at a library sale pre-virus. I'm sorry you can't join--I've been missing out on group reads for the same reason, so understand your frustration.

I don't know where you live and if this site charges shipping, but I found a used copy for $ 3.99:

I buy used books all the time when I don't go for the audio or ebook.

Brenda, Brina and me have just decided to go for it and would start very soon.

Me too!! That's the first book, right?

Yes, it’s the first book.
I‘ve already created an extra thread.

Who would be interested in a buddy read of The Gaucho Martín Fierro ?
I'll read it for O2: Classic Western of the BINGO challenge this year.

Petra had mentioned (message 1627) a buddy read of No Name by Wilkie Collins and got several responses of "yes" with a tentative May reading date. I was wondering if I had missed that or whether it was still in the works.

That's my thought too Brina. I was looking for bilingual edition even if I had to pay a bit more. No Luck. I will read online. I will enjoy better if I can read in Spanish, so I will try that first. The last week of May is good. June even better. But either way.

It's on the short side, about 150 pages. I enjoyed his The River Between. The kindle is $6.

I will join in as well. The first week of June sounds good.

I’ll add it now!
Edit, just to say I can't find a thread for it yet, so I'll create that too :)

Thank you for bringing this up again and setting up a start date. I'll be ready for a June start.
Looking forward to it. Wilkie Collins writes a good story.
No problem, Petra. May would have been impossible for me, so I'm glad it got pushed out a little. Looking forward to reading with everyone.

Also looking and planning for buddy reads of these books in July if they don’t win the polls:

John the Hollow Crown episodes are productions of the Shakespearan plays. So you have a good start there.
