After enjoying my reread of To the Lighthouse, I'd be interested if you don't mind another Sam.

I am just about as blank as my picture most days, and please drop a reminder on Mrs. Dalloway when it's reading time.

I've read Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse and Orlando but am interested in reading her The Waves if you get to that one. An amazing writer.

I would like to join this read too. I haven't read any of her work so this should be a good start for me. I already have the books.

Cynda | 5197 comments Does anyone have a desire to read Ulysses? I will be starting about the 8th of August. I will be reading with nonfiction-reading buddies at another group and would like to read with my literature-reading buddies in a thread here too. I plan to read for 2 or 3 months.

message 1766: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 246 comments I am interested in reading Ulysses, I have started it three times but couldn’t continue, I think company will make it possible to finish it.

Have you read it already or this is the first time?

This is my first time Nidhi. I have read The Odyssey which may help or not. I also have detailed annotation in Ulysses Annotated by Don Gifford.

message 1769: by Cynda (new)

Cynda | 5197 comments You and I, Nidhi, can finalize the buddy read, if you would like. Is August 9th okay? I see I have a 24-hour readathon Aug 7th and 8th. Or what start date is good for you?

message 1770: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 246 comments Any date will do but I want to read the book and not listen to the audio book. ( It happened to a buddy read of Atlas Shrugged) So I will inform my friend about August.

Sure Nidhi use format you feel comfortable with. I am going to try the ebook format because the copy I bought is not the quality level I thought I bought. I will make it work. I have time.. . . . I will let the moderators know,

message 1775: by Luke (last edited Sep 29, 2020 01:42PM) (new)

Luke (korrick) I've decided that my long read project for 2021 will be Pilgrimage by Dorothy M. Richardson, a thirteen volume novel(la) sequence published over the course of the first half of the 20th c. whose writing has been compared to that of Henry James, Virginia Woolf, and James Joyce, predating the work of the latter two. Schedule wise, my edition is split into four volumes, so I'd likely devote one month to each volume, beginning in January and ending in April. All are free to join, especially if you're interested in reading this but have been put off by the length/writing style.

P.S. This is one of the longer works on the 1001 BBYD and the Guardian 1000 lists.

I am along for this. I'll be rereading the novel and listening to the Juliet Stevenson audio narration so I 'll probably pace myself for enjoyment. Did you have a target date for finishing?

I am hoping to be finished by the end of the October. It is a reread for me, and I have rewatched the movie at someone's suggestion at another group when reading another work of VW. Not to worry about hurrying as someone else has private messaged and will probably start in November. So Sam, do you think you will be able to join in?

Cynda | 5197 comments Is anyone interested in reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf. This will have be my last VW for the year. We can restart in January if still interested.

Phrodrick slowed his growing backlog | 51 comments Cynda wrote: "Is anyone interested in reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf. This will have be my last VW for the year. We can restart in January if still interested."

I read this some time back and maybe "got" 5%. Which makes it a perfect buddy re-read for me. My schedule for now is daunting. Maybe late Dec, or if I remember I can join you and others in progress(?)

message 1782: by Cynda (last edited Nov 02, 2020 04:57PM) (new)

Cynda | 5197 comments Thanks Phrodrick for responding. Maybe start Dec 15? I would rather finish the short novel by the end of the year. Two weeks is good. Does starting Dec 15th and ending Dec 31st work?

He is also the author of the 1100 page "2666".
