My book of short stories based on the Indian epic the Mahabharat is available for review. It is on NetGalley, which is a site that allows bloggers and readers to read and review advance copies of books. I understand it requires registration, but is free.
https://www.netgalley.co.uk/widget/16...
The stories alternate between mystery and speculative fiction. The mystery stories are set in the epic age (about 2000 BCE).
Once Upon a Time in the Future

The idea for my novel came from a robbery that turned into a hostage situation that I watched unfold when I lived out there. The events encapsulated the violence and corruption of the time in Brazil, which have once again come to the fore.

I'm an indie author and have recently published the first installment in a new humorous mystery series. It's a postmodern detective novel featuring two young female sleuths that takes place among the hipsters of LA. Fans of "Deadpool" and "The Nice Guys" will love this new twist on the genre. I'd appreciate anyone who's willing to read and review! Please see the synopsis below. Thanks!

Murder, She Vaped: The Ironic T-Shirt Caper
https://www.amazon.com/Murder-She-Vap...
"MURDER, SHE VAPED is a new series featuring Silver Lake barista Judy Scoffs, the coolest girl in Los Angeles who has a sixth sense for when something’s not right or when someone’s being sexist online. Even though she’s super indie and fun, somehow death and crime follow her wherever she goes. Along with her sidekick/roommate Doll, Judy is unafraid to tackle even the most baffling mysteries.
In THE IRONIC T-SHIRT CAPER, a crime wave has hit Echo Park, as nostalgic shirts purchased from a local vintage shop vanish overnight from customers’ closets, replaced by ones with current references a grown adult might enjoy, like “True Crime Podcasts” and “In-Unit Washer/Dryer.” Judy and Doll dive into a world of shady clothing magnates, outlandish performance artists, and cynical bloggers to get to the bottom of this supernatural frenzy before everyone in town has to start defining themselves through something other than their clothing."

The College Farm Mystery: The True Story of the Finchley Murder of 1898
An intriguing true crime story set in Victorian England..
On a dark winter’s night in January 1898, the head cowman at the Express Dairy Company’s College Farm was shot dead. The picturesque dairy farm located on Regent’s Park Road in Finchley, provided the unlikely crime scene. The victim, Thomas Webb had no known enemies, but eerily had predicted the shocking event.
Chief Inspector Henry Moore, one of Scotland Yard’s most experienced detectives, was assigned the difficult task of unravelling the mystery of the “Finchley Murder”. Previously he had led the investigation into the Whitechapel murders and had failed to identify “Jack the Ripper”. Approaching his retirement did he succeed in bringing Thomas’s killer to justice?

High praise, indeed!
Legendary crime writer Joseph Wambaugh recommends Fred Dickey’s new novel
“Death On A Dark Street.”
Wambaugh Says:
"This is a suspenseful, authentic, and well-researched manhunt for a serial killer. It introduces rookie homicide detective Jaye Peoria, a tough but tender young woman determined to prove herself and stop an elusive killer.
It's a good book."
And that’s not all.
Maura Parga, San Diego P.D. cold case detective (ret.), says:
“Fred Dickey is a brilliant writer. I love the way the detectives interact with each other, so right on target. It’s just like I’m working the case myself. The investigation methods and procedures are accurate. The descriptions of the homeless and their struggles--perfect. I LOVE THIS BOOK!”
A Scene...
“When the young prostitute saw the door she almost sang out in joy. But just as she reached for the handle, he stepped out of the shadows.
“She screamed, but as their eyes met she was surprised at the absence of violence in his. She wanted to understand how that could be, but there was no time.
“His fingers closed around her throat. The last words she gasped were, “Don’t! Please, don’t.” Then, there was no more air.”
Fred Dickey is a popular novelist, a much-honored journalist, and a Pulitzer Prize nominee. In this book, he makes danger real and brings cops to life. Dickey lives in Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.
Death On A Dark Street is available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or book stores in paperback, hardback or digital.

psychological thriller

Before you volunteer the things I am looking for are the following:
Is the pace ok, if not how can I make a scene better.
Is there enough mystery if not .. suggest where in a scene I can add some, or suggest where I can add a new scene and how I can make it better with your thoughts. This is my first attempt at a mystery and the biggest aspect I am unsure of since my main character is trying to stop a murder before it happens. Perhaps one of the characters should do something that makes him look guilty.. I just can’t think of anything at the moment, that’s why I need you help..
Again... if it’s good the way it is.. I’d be thrilled, but I want this book to be the best it can be so I’ll do what it takes.
Keep in mind this is a YA, but it’s still a romance so do I need more sexy scenes, if so where? How...without them having sex?
Are the scenes with tension tense enough?
Is the conversation real?
Are my characters likable?
Again, if not I’d like suggestions on how to fix that, not just I didn’t like because...
Is the ending predictable..did you guess who the murderer was before the last scene?
Of course if you come across grammar or typos please let me know.
A pub house asked for the entire ms then after it got passed over to a different editor he/she turned it down, so I fear something is off, or maybe they just didn’t relate, I’m not sure, thus my call for beta readers.
Thanks
Marianne
I f you are and you are willing to do this within a short period of time, please email me at [email protected]

There is action and plenty of suspense, but this is a book that does not fit neatly into any genre. It's the story of a young man looking for his place in the world. Only read it if you're ready for something that strains against the mould.
If interested, please e-mail [email protected]. I will either gift you a copy or set a free giveaway date. (Please include in your review that it was free to conform to Amazon's guidelines.)

I would be really pleased to find honest reviewers for my dark crime novel, asylum. If you would be willing to consider it, please message me with an email address to which I could send an epub, mobi or pdf (let me know which).
But first please see comments below from other readers (Amazon) - all of whom appear to have found the book even darker than I thought it was when I wrote it.... so it may not be your kind of book! Its central characters are a trafficked child and a desperately displaced refugee (who may or may not be mentally ill), both from Somalia.

Awesome Book
“Asylum by Carly Rheilan is a dark, twisty kind of book that will keep you guessing. This is not a feel good book at all, but rather a tale that will stay with you in all of its dark glory…. The author writes with confidence, and that dark mood that permeates this novel sets the tone for an intriguing and exciting story. Not only is this book dark and disturbing, but is so well written you may forget you are reading about horrible things. Highly recommend for a chilling thriller in the classic noir style.”
Dark, Heavy, Creepy, Yet Beautiful
“Asylum is one of those unique stories that leave a deep imprint on your mind and makes you think of all the darkness that is present in this world and yet, there is a specific beauty that makes you believe in life's goodness and gives you the will to live on. …The book is grim and very engaging.”
‘It was obviously pigeaters’ work’
“Carly’s ability to magnetize the reader’s attention begins with the cover art and continues with the opening paragraphs of this very disturbing, excellent novel….Tense, very dark, but securely written by an author about whom we most assuredly will be hearing more. A fascinating, disturbing book.”

Hello. I looked at this on Amazon and bought your second book in the same series instead, which I notice has not been reviewed yet, (and which also has Asylum in the title so I was interested). Do me a sweet favour and private message me with anything absolutely essential from the first book in order for the second to make sense, because I probably don't have time to read both, and you possibly want the second one reviewed... (I mean essential. As a child I read Prince Caspian before the Lion the Witch and the wardrobe, and the mysterious lack of the prequel info just made me love it more. 'Tis ever thus.) If I like the book I'll add a review on Amazon or anywhere else you want. If I don't, I'll private message you and tell you why!

Are you possibly in the wrong thread here? this is the "mystery, crime and thriller" thread for "Authors looking for reviewers"... Doesn't sound like request is intended for "us", but perhaps I missed something?

It’s relatively short at 49,000 words.
The book is about Jane Lockwood, a young police constable who has just been promoted to detective, and moves to Toowoomba - a conservative country town in Queensland.
The story follows the investigation into the murder of a 17 year old school girl, and the battles Jane faces in the workplace as well.
The novel is set in 1993 and I went to a lot of effort to (hopefully) get the period right, and to also make an engaging story.
If that sounds like the kind of thing you may be interested in please message me and I’ll forward you a copy
Thanks kindly, Scot

Happy to read it. If I could give it a 4 or 5, I'll post a review when it comes out . Otherwise I'll email you privately and tell you why not (you don't seem to be set up to receive private messages on Goodreads, so give me an email!) I'm [email protected]

My third is scheduled to be released on March 4th, and I would love the chance to connect with anyone who is interested in getting an ARC for review. My first two thrillers have been released, one at the end of December, and the second at the beginning of this month, and they are both off to a good start. This novel is a mystery/thriller, about a Hit Man who gets a contract against himself. He knows that whoever placed the hit has to be someone very close to him, and he has to find who placed the hit and stop them before he runs out of time.
Please let me know if you would like an ARC.
Thank you. Please see below for a link to the cover and a blurb.

His hardest hit is himself.
Hitman. Husband. Father. Dead man?
Charley Fieldner has everything a man could want: a loving wife, a well-paying job, two great kids, and a beautiful home.
He also has a big secret.
Charley is a hitman with a huge complication—he is his own next target.
The background file contains the sort of details only someone very close to him could know. The suspect list is short but devastating, his wife, father, sister, and best friend. He always thought he could have it all, but the secrets, lies, and betrayals are piling up.
Charley needs time to unravel the mystery behind who wants him dead and why, but time is in short supply. Another killer took the contract. He now has a choice: roll over and die or fight for his life.
With fast action, compelling characters and a deep mystery, this story will keep you guessing until the end.
