Welcome Sci-Fi Authors and Readers!

I have now got Amazon to change this from novella length of 175 pages to 1200 Kindle pages (which are short pages compared to a book). So now people can understand the value they are getting. I don't see why the length could be posted so wrongly in the first place.

Welcome to the Twelve Systems, a technologically advanced society ruled by a small number of elite, the warriors. The first book in the Twelve Systems Chronicles, The Cartel, begins the tale of one of the most compelling couples to enter fiction in some time.
Lilian is twenty-four, well-educated, disgraced, destitute and desperate. Raised to wealth and power, her expectations of a bright future were destroyed when her father was executed for foul crimes. Her family name is erased, their cartouche melted, their property forfeit. Determined to survive and protect what remains of her family, Lilian becomes the apprentice of a powerful warrior. For three years, he will train her for a position in the Cartels. In return, Lilian will yield him absolute control of her mind and body.
Lucius Mercio is the preeminent warrior of his Cartouche, and the Cartel it dominates; the Serengeti Group. Ruthless, clever and ambitious, Lucius' wealth, influence, and power are exceeded by few within the Twelve Systems. It is not sufficient. Lucius intends to take his Cartel to unimaginable heights with the aid of Lilian's brilliance. He faces only one obstacle. Lucius must keep Lilian alive.

About Essence:
Jocelyn Timmons does not believe she is anything special — just an ordinary high school senior, living an ordinary life full of school-work, volleyball and friends. She’s about to find out how wrong she is.
Jackson Chandler moved in to the house across the street. His dark wavy hair, green eyes and charismatic personality draws everyone to him. Everyone, but Jocelyn.
Whenever Jackson gets near Jocelyn she feels ill and dizzy. When he touches her, she blacks out and has visions of another life, in another time. As the odd hallucinations evolve and become clearer, she feels a strong pull towards the people she sees there. Frightened, she watches her once stable life begin to crumble around her and she begins to question her own sanity.
Could it be possible that these episodes are actually her own memories of a life she is living somehow, somewhere, some-when? Maybe this is time-travel or some other paranormal mysticism? Our minds often wander, but can our souls?

My last book is a short (200 pages) science fiction novel titled "The Amazing Crystal - Revelations". It is the first of a trilogy and has just been published on Amazon (November 5, 2013) in both paperback and Kindle editions. I would be honoured if GoodReads readers accepted to review it and post their review on Goodreads and Amazon.
The novel concerns a foreign (extragalactic) intelligence that is, and has been, a central force in the evolution of the earth since before the time of man. The story relates the impact upon the world’s civilizations of discovering the presence of this intelligence and learning that the intelligence is now preparing to help man avoid many of the potential disasters that confront today’s world.
A short description of the book is found on Goodreads or Amazon at:

Please let me know if you would accept to review the book and eventually post your review on GoodReads and Amazon. If your reply is positive, I will be pleased to send you a Mobi copy compatible with Kindle or, if you wish, a paperback copy for which I will need a mailing address. I have also prepared a novel spotlight information file (Word format) that could be used in your blog : I can also send it by e-mail if you wish so.

Alex James’ novels are inspired by asperger syndrome, which is a form of autism. He believes it is a difference and not a disorder. His novels are influenced by the themes of alienation and empowerment. His characters are alienated. They must become empowered. The struggles his characters face mirror his own struggles in life – a fight to become something more!

I have recently published my first graphic novel, "I and You" (with artist Lucas Duimstra). It is a dystopian future in which the U.S. is divided by secession. The heroine, Sara Storm, is a science fiction fan and a true believer in the ideals of her republic, which is founded upon the philosophy of Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand's dreams are not her own, however, and from deep within the Earth, change is afoot. Check it out at http://beverlygarside.com/
P.S. I really do wish there were a separate category for dystopian futures, and one for graphic novels too.

Feel free... no, please DO share :)

Starship pilot Alan Abrams crippled his younger brother Jimmy in a childhood scuffle, and spent his entire life trying to make up for it. But when humanity turns away from the stars, his career evaporates and he can no longer afford his brother's care.
Then Alan gets a mysterious offer to join an interstellar expedition searching for a long-lost starship. The paycheck will support his brother forever. The downside? An untrustworthy, fractious team. An evasive, domineering backer. And a murder attempt before Alan even
takes the offer.
Alan finds himself piloting a ship attacked by a hostile universe outside, and inside filled with sabotage, deceit, and murder.
For centuries, humanity sought intelligent life among the stars. Alan's expedition finds it. Unfortunately.
An engrossing science fiction novel.

My first book, Oranje is out now!

----
The fate of billions will rest in the hands of a few.
In the region of September, the planet Oranje has been devastated, its population wiped out in a merciless attack.
The rest of September is distracted by the imminent war between the Arausio Republic and the Union of Nine, blind to everything else. Only the Curators, reclusive protectors of the Net that connects all of humanity, know the truth. Oranje is just the prelude to a full-scale invasion.
There is only one option: they must send out the Three to warn September, if people will listen. Few trust the Curators, but there are some, tired of the wars between the Union and the Republic, who can help stop this threat.
If the Three fail, all planets will suffer the same fate as Oranje. The future of September is in their hands.

My official tie-in novel to the computer game Elite:Dangerous (http://elite.frontier.co.uk) is called 'Elite:And Here The Wheel' and is due out later this year (exact date TBC) and is being published by Fantastic Books Publishing.
I've been a die-hard Elite fan since I first played it as an 8 year old so having the privilege of writing a canon novel was the opportunity of my life and I've bleed the last year of my life into it. Its a science fiction action adventure. Some heart pounding set pieces with some great characters who grow as they come to grips with who they are and where they have come from. I've had around a dozen alpha and beta readers who have all loved it. If you get to read it too, I hope you love it as well.

To coincide with the latest stop on my national radio tour (88.1 FM Long Island, NY on Tuesday 11am streaming WWW.WCWP.ORG) my new book NOT FROM AROUND HERE is on sale with the ebook available on Amazon for only $0.99 for the next week or so. This book is a collection of connected stories that all come together in the final, title story. This book spans many genres, so I'm posting it in a few categories. The Kingsman Newspaper said of the book "Hochwald’s stories are thought-provoking and unconventional. Across the collection, plotlines range widely, from government conspiracies to autobiographical stories of romance, as Hochwald provides the reader with different lenses through which to observe the mysteries of the universe. Moreover, these variations in style are a refreshing contrast to the overwrought themes of typical science-fiction and horror literature." Blogcritics.org made it an "Editor's Pick!" and the Seattle Post Intelligencer website said, "Hochwald does a great job of building his protagonists with believable characteristics, as well as making them memorable...his descriptions draw a vivid picture that is often difficult with short stories." You can find the book on sale here: http://tinyurl.com/mnzra53 Thank you and I hope you enjoy it! Be well!

Hey, Larry. No need to spam GR. One or two postings will do nicely.

I don't know if you're over the line or not (I'm not a monitor on the boards you've posted), but too much exposure makes your audience think negatively of you. Most people in GR belong to several groups. If you hit maybe two of the major ones, you'll probably get seen by most of your audience. In this group, you only need to post once, not in every sub-section, for everyone to see it on their daily wrap-up that's emailed to them the next day.
This makes you look like someone who signed up, then immediately started yelling "look at me!" to everyone. It's a natural tendency for people who want to get a message out and start hitting every social site they can find -- without getting to know the "feeling" of the site first and participating. Unfortunately, it often has the opposite effect from the one you want.
You're not alone. A lot of people start marketing on the "introduce yourself" threads without bothering to read the rules. At least you read the rules first. It's a common tendency for people who are just starting to learn to market themselves.
A lot of groups limit author ads to a special sub-section designed for them. So beware as you wander around GR.

5.0 Star Average (twenty-one 5 Star & one 4 Star reviews).
From the author of "Voyage of the Dead" and the "Sovereign Spirit Saga" comes a whole new type of apocalypse. Inspired by "Lucifer's Hammer" and other epic science fiction novels, David Forsyth brings the fear, suspense and thrilling action of "end of the world as we know it" fiction into focus aboard a cruise ship en route to Australia when an asteroid strikes the Central Pacific Ocean. Whatever image that description evokes is nothing compared the epic forces of nature, human drama, and pain of loss you will encounter in this book.
Sample Review:
"From the Start of this book I felt as though I was a passenger on the cruise. I could smell the sea air, & hear the water as it hit the ship. This book has introduced me to new things I never knew about before like the "line crossing" ceremony. As I read the book I found some normal everyday people become extraordinary heroes. Impact is full of action, happiness, fear, love, selflessness towards themselves only to save those around them. I have to admit while reading this book at first I thought I want to go on another cruise then as I got more into the book I found myself thinking... nah I think I'll keep these big feet on the ground! But as usual David finds a way to show the BEST place to be in an event such as a meteor hit is in a ship. Heroes were made as the book went on! David has a great way of making you, the reader, feel as though YOU are a passenger on the ship & YOU are freaking out about drowning or burning alive. That shows true talent being able place your readers INSIDE the story! I can't wait for Book 2 & see what happens next!"
Sedulity: noun. Constant in purpose and intent, assiduous, steadfast, tireless, indefatigable.

When the post-apocalyptic world, weary from the long fight, was struggling to get back on its feet, those who remained longed for the fear and chaos to end. Unfortunately this led to the rise of Tyrants. A time where they and their soldiers controlled their City-States with brutality and hate. The worst of these Warlords is Police Mayor Syron and his City-State of Sideon. With so much uncertainty and hopelessness from Syron's ironclad rule, how can the people know the revolution will happen? Fomorian Earth is speculative science fiction, inspired by the Celtic mythology of the Tuatha dé Danann and Fomorians of ancient Ireland. Today, ancient astronaut theorists are suggesting that both the Fomorians and the Tuatha dé Danann were extraterrestrial astronauts from another star system, and it is from this possibility that the Star Borne epic series comes to life. Interweaving historical fact with science fiction and fantasy, Fomorian Earth brings to life the power struggles, bloody human sacrifices, and treachery of an Earth before Humans became the dominant species.
WARNING: Fomorian Earth, the first book in the Star Borne series, contains mature situations, violence, and language. Not recommended for anyone under 18 years of age.
Today I inaugurated my own, stand-alone website. It even has a blog. Right now it's all pretty limited, but as I get time and more experience with it, I hope to make improvements. Check it out at http://kendoggett.weebly.com

Hello!
Last week I released my first collection of 14 speculative/science fiction short stories (don't tell anyone, but there's a single horror story hidden in there too!)
It's been an experience trying to get the word out - but I'm settling into the idea now that it will take just as much work to tell people about it as it did to get it written in the first place!
Anyway, it cover's all sorts of themes, but a lot of 'unseen' social experiments, some longer works with projected future's, and some time-travel.
Each story is distinct but I've woven an easter egg between all but one of them, a linking narrative/event that you take or leave, but adds an added little 'dimension' when you pick up on it (hence the name - The Dimension Scales'.
Very much influenced by the likes of Douglas Adams, David Mitchell and Roald Dahl (his adult short stories, which are some of the best in the world).
Anyway, hope some of you may look in on the link at some point - the amazon page 'look inside' pretty much gives the first two stories if you are curious!
Regards
Garry Abbott

Have great summer!

Read an excerpt on Goodreads or the web site www.rlkiser.com/exile-scifi.html

Ad Infinitum is my first novel and explores the question of the origin of life on this and other planets, in other universes and all universes at once. In this multiverse runs one common thread - humanity. On countless worlds across countless plains of possibility, there exists some form of humanity, of people, and they all share the same creators, a race of beings older than time and of unknown origin called the Sojourners. These omni terrestrial pioneers literally seed the universe with life, and as they go they leave behind a number of their own to guide the process of evolving, and, through reincarnation leap frog through time and pass along the history of each generation to the next line of Sojourner elementals.
Yet there was one Sojourner who looked at what it had created and saw nothing but inferior bastard offspring, not to be nurtured, but to be ruled. It broke off from the Sojourner religion and rebelled against it. It became known only as the Other. And across the multiverse of time and space, there was war between the Other and the Sojourners. And now the war has come to Earth.
Three people – a Bengali mystic, the son of an African shaman, and a prodigy turned schizophrenic who sees things people shouldn't see – become caught up in the crimes of a man who started life as a gifted, loved and loving child, but through tragedy was usurped by the essence of an evil, ancient and unforgiving, and sets forth on a mission of destruction. It is up to the Sojourner faithful, few in number, to find among them the power to overcome the Other and by doing so, forever change the lives of those either fortunate or unfortunate enough to be close to them.

Selected for a genetic breeding program by the Creators, the Monarchy of the New World, Ariet and her captor Mason, have to provide an offspring with a predetermined inherited genetic profile, or face termination. They find mutual empathy for one another when their unborn child does not carry the desirable gene. Unable to accept the scheduled termination of her pregnancy by the Creators and to save the life of her offspring, Mason helps her escape to an area outside of the Four Quadrants. Mason's childhood friend Thor, a Guardian in the Great Tower, flees with Ariet to protect her from the unknown, whilst leaving Mason behind to bring down the rulers of the New World. With the aid of refugees from the Old World, Ariet, together with her child and Thor risk everything to join Mason in his fight to destroy the Monarchy.
The Breeders Trilogy

Breeders sounds like a great story. I presume it is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble? My editor suggested reading other writers' works and not just for entertainment but for style, plot development, and the like.
I had my first novel published last August. Shadow Guardians is a sci-fi piece set in the present day around the Puget Sound area (I live in Lakewood, just south of Tacoma) as well as blasting off across the galaxy.
I just started reading a book called How to Market Your Book by Joanna Penn to try to pull things together and coordinate my activities in getting myself and my novel out there into the larger universe. After all, one can write the world's greatest novel, but if no one knows about it, it won't sell. That includes getting serious about involving myself anew in Goodreads and elsewhere. I would be interested in hearing your development ideas for Breeders, if you have said marketing plans in place, or are developing them, and why you decided to write and you goals.

My latest of my After Eden sci-fi and international thriller series is out now!
Rising Leviathan is the latest sci-fi thriller in the After Eden series—a dramatic mix of politics, religion, and intrigue. The saga continues in the Russian Bloc (Yes, Russia “owns” Eastern Europe too) in the year 2096 with the inexplicable death of the Russian president. Or was it murder? As one leader falls, a deadly power rises. Will there be war or more than one? The march to the explosion of World War III continues— the first global war of the Tek Age, a hell we have never seen before.
Rising Leviathan joins Thy Kingdom Fall and Stars and Scorpions in the series. Hope you enjoy this provocative and unique series!

Very cool Ken!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I started reading a book titled How to Market a Book and have started thinking about a marketing strategy to get out there in the larger universe. Though the book appears to be geared toward the indie writer, for the most part, I am finding some good info on what to do and how to.
I am interested in getting in touch with other authors and readers who write or have read similar novels to mine and perhaps networking for the mutual benefit. With all the books out there I would think to go through and read everything would be a slightly daunting task, hence something of a shortcut approach. Attached is a short synopsis for my novel Shadow Guardians. Attached is a pasted release from my publisher that contains a story description.

Who could have guessed a night out and dinner date would lead to a universe turned upside down?
The prospect that Earth and the heavens around are filled with wonders and possibilities leads author Brett Lawrence on a trek to unimaginable mysteries both near and far.
Intrigued by a simple question with the preamble, "What if..." author Brett Lawrence has written has woven together a story about a much larger universe than the miniscule one that encompasses the lives of each and every one of us inhabiting Earth.
In the imagination of any thinking soul ideas come and go like fleeting clouds on a blue sky. One such struck me some time ago and remained. In my contemplation of a number of abstract ideas, though I had no intention at the time of turning it into a book. Time and more nurturing of it led to another link, then a chain, each link interconnecting to another. At that point, I knew a story was in the making. A scratch pad, pen, and loose-leaf binder then became my constant companions as an awesome and wonderful universe opened up.
Shadow Guardians is a present day science fiction story centering on a small group of ordinary everyday individuals going about their daily lives. Each will be not quite swallowed by a lethal tragedy and then caught up in extraordinary events that will permanently alter their lives. Blessing or curse, salvation will find each one by means that will prove out of this world.
Shadow Guardians revolves around the lead character, Abigail Webster, surrounded by her husband Dennis, antagonist Lindsey Maguire, and their Majoran benefactors Milankaar and Miriam. Their individual losses and subsequent new reality has them temporarily forced together in the confines of an interstellar transport. It is there that personal issues, conflicts, and even strengths and convictions will be laid out in the open and heightened to unanticipated levels.
Their mutual struggles and conflicts form an interesting, and at times tense, interplay that will leave Abby wondering if rescue is such a good thing. But it will eventually force Abby and Dennis to realize that only the nobler qualities of hope, faith, and love found in unity will matter when all else is lost, that such will make the difference between survival and defeat--even life and death.
A sequel is already in the works that will make a deeper exploration of a terrifying personal change for Abby and the abiding relationship with Dennis and others aboard the Majoran vessel Starlighht Mistress. On the other hand, conflict, intrigue, danger, and even treachery will stalk ship and crew on their trek across the galaxy to their hoped for destination .
"Brett Lawrence has provided us with a fresh and original work that explores the unnerving thought that we are not alone in our universe Shadow Guardians is a heroic page-turner of a story that chronicles how seemingly ordinary choices can result in adventure, terror, surprise and even unexpected love." --Kathleen Papajohn, Author of "Maligned"
Brett is a native of Illinois but an Air Force brat transplant to Lakewood, Washington for over forty years. He is a graduate of Central Washington University and active in her church, minerals and rockhounding, writing, and other interests.

To shore up public support for the sisterhood, Jazrene Vallo, the matriarch of the sisterhood has authorized the capture of the rogue sisters who have vowed to use their supernatural gifts to exact revenge upon the heads of those who shed the blood of the innocent. But unbeknownst to the matriarch, her decisions will have far reaching consequences, which will impact the future generations of those who reside in the five galaxies of the Quintástraya.

A Rhizonor galaxy class scout ship, the Osparatta,
is sent on a special assignment just inside one of the
regions of space where myths and lore are born, known
as the “Dead Zones.” Shortly after their arrival, a series of ominous and foreboding events unfold.
The mission quickly turns from one of search and rescue, to one of survival. For they are the first to experience the shadow of the "Deathly Darkness" prophesied in the Kadashah, which will usher in the end of the age. The unmitigated force of the cold merciless power of the kingdoms of darkness is
unleashed to afflict those of faith in God. The son of the morning, Kravanoblus, will test the living and trap them in a vise grip of intense trial and tribulation.
Hope deferred are poison to the soul.
