A.M.C. A.M.C. (adamcroft83) | 15 comments Hi all, new author that thought it was about time I joined and started to network!

My first book is reaching conclusion, in the editing process now. The book focuses on one young man's personal battle to avenge the death of his family after a hostile alien invasion, becoming caught up in the middle of an inter-galactic battle and learning of the five power sources (Electrolism/Nuclearism/Radiation/Gravity/Magnestism) that wield ultimate superiority.

Story is fast paced and violent, basically Independence Day meets Star Wars meets Lord of The Rings with Game of Thrones level of violence.

If anyone would be interested in reading the first drafts before they are released then I would welcome feedback, or if anyone with an artistic flair wants to do some sketches of how they see the characters I would love to see a different perspective then what is in my mind - feel free to connect with me on Twitter - @adamcroft83

Look forward to hearing from you all!

James Kemp (greencoatboy) | 8 comments Crisis Point
Crisis Point (Exodus, #3) by James Kemp
I recently released the third part of the Exodus series. The book blurb is:

In the middle of the 21st Century Mike Duff is an officer of US Space Command, in a period where the United States has entered one of its periodic isolationist phases. The military are getting cut, and they and the defense contractors aren't happy about it. Mike is a patriotic American, loyal to the Constitution and proud of his country, but he doesn't like the increasing mix of Church and State that the politicians are bringing.

Crisis point widens the world view from the previous two parts of Exodus and tells the story of a military conspiracy to overthrow the democratically elelcted US President. It is a substantial re-write of a previously published short story called "Mike's Thread" and contains about 50% completely new material. The world is widened still further in Exodus 4 'Other Hills' which is due out at the end of September 2013.

Daniel Sherrier | 20 comments Help me help the American Red Cross.

For each copy of my sci-fi book, Earths in Space, sold 9/27, 9/28, and 9/29/13, I will give my cut to the Red Cross. The e-book costs $1.99, and I usually get $0.70 from each download. This weekend only, I’ll give that $0.70 to the Red Cross, multiplied by the number of copies sold, plus whatever I need to add to round up to the next $5 increment.

There is one flaw in this plan, though. My distributor, Bookbaby, has a two-month delay in reporting sales. But we can get around this. Please send me a GR message, FB message, tweet, or email letting me know about your purchase. That way, I can go ahead and make the donation on Monday. I promise not to collect any email addresses. We’re all on the Honor System here.

I have not been in touch with the Red Cross about this. I simply plan on making an online donation first thing Monday morning.

Thanks!

Rex Lee Applegate | 7 comments Timeline repair Attack on America by Rex Lee Applegate by Rex Lee Applegate

In the study of the past historians often scratch their heads and ask, "What the hell?" People do things or events transpire that just don't make sense. These mysteries constitute the knobs and protuberances that stick out from the smooth flow of history.

Most are of the opinion that these bumps arise from the vagaries of chance and human frailty. But there is another explanation. On occasion, such anomalies are the result of timeline tampering and struggles to repair the damage. Things can seldom be put back exactly as they were.

This work is a series of that rationalizes the detritus remaining after three such episodes: "Benedict Arnold and the Second Revolutionary War," "King George and the German Empire," and "Richelieu, the Huguenots and New France."

Exodus Conflict Synopsis.

Exodus Conflict by Michael J. Brooks

Due to war, environmental mistreatment, and the overuse of natural resources, Earth was brought to the brink of catastrophe. In order to preserve human civilization, nations put aside their animosity and worked together to find a new home world within the Milky Way Galaxy. It appeared to be the perfect planet to call Second Earth, and humanity thought this new world would be all for their taking; however, a race of people known as the Zull also needed this planet for their salvation.

Because of fear, hate, and distrust, the races were unable to comprise. Earth then united their militaries to form the Earth United Front (EUF) and a war for total supremacy erupted.

Now, a lone journalist named Alex Mercer travels to Second Earth seeking to understand why the war has been drawn out for three years, even though the simple solution of "coexistence" could end it tomorrow.

While on his adventure, Alex becomes acquainted with an EUF soldier named Andrea Blair, whose cold gray eyes tell a tale of death, sorrow, and hate. And though Andrea seems to be nothing more than a heartless Zull killer, Alex sees something more behind her cruel demeanor. Alex sees someone who wants to simply laugh, love, and enjoy life; and for much of his time on Second Earth, it becomes his personal mission to prevent Andrea from remaining the cold shell of a person she has become, as well as prevent humankind and Zull from wiping each other out.

Of all the wars Alex has covered, he has never experienced one quite like this, and he has certainly never met a woman like Andrea Blair.

I am a history and language teacher by my original profession, but I have different educations and working background (graphic designer, Painter, editor, 3D and 2D animator).

After writing too long for my drawer (and closed my stuff into it) I came to publish my first book, CLUSTER in Hungarian language at 3.4.2013.
My second book (Death in the stars) out this November, meanwhile I am writing the second part of the Cluster (Seed).
This book is on the the way out to the readers on English, will be out 4.4.2014.

The story from the back of the book>
A runaway skybus rush through the traffic of the New Home Colony on Mars, and an old cop trying to save its passengers from their fatal destiny.
But this is only a beginning.
Alexei Sverlov wakes up in the middle of the Indian Ocean with a rope tied to his leg...
But this is only the beginning.
A new state, the New China Empire emerges on the Earth, occupying whole Asia in a confined atomic strike.
But this is only the beginning...
The M-epidemy started its horrible and deadly spread on the Colonies of the Solar system.
But this is really just the beginning.
In this gripping and exciting book - which binds you itself from the firs page to the last - the main characters find themselves in the cluster of a Solar system-wide epidemic, while a much more greater spiritual and physical powers pull the strings from the background.
The world is new, the epidemy is unknown, but the conflict is the old one. You can only find out the secrets of the Cluster if you sink deeply into it!

Robert Italia

http://www.robert-italia.com

It's science vs. religion in a Christmas story for our turbulent times . . .

When Christopher Russo was in middle school and struggling with an unhappy home life, his artist-mother gave him one of many secret family treasures entrusted to him: an ancient diary unearthed from the mountains of her ancestral Austria. “Use the Book,” she implored him one fateful night. “It will save you.” To escape their monstrous father, if only in their minds, Chris and his younger sister turned to their faith and added a fantasy story called FOREVER CHRISTMAS; a Victorian-era Dream World inspired by all the art and artifacts—the sacred and the unholy—so influential in their lives. But after a deadly legacy claimed his mother and his first true love abandoned him, Chris tossed aside his “childish” beliefs, turned to science for solutions, then rewrote the story to fit his enlightened views—and settle old scores with all who have hurt him. But the Book is steeped in Alpine legends, holds a dark secret, and an even darker power that takes control during the Holy Season of Magic. And when his story came to life . . . .

One year later, another holiday season approaches. Chris, now a high school freshman, is battling his sister’s failing health, his treasure-seeking father who doesn’t “believe” in doctors, and his guilt for a terrible tragedy—all the while haunted once more by visions from the Dream World that he can no longer deny exists. Despite all the misfortune, there is one last hope still echoing in his mother’s words: a permanent escape to that Dream World where they’ll be free of neglect, illness, and shame. But Chris must confront the horrors that await if he wants to recapture all the love he once knew—and save his sister from the legacy that relentlessly stalks her.

Beware the power of science . . . and the Holy Season of Magic.

I love adventures and in Siever, I've tried to create a fun ride with characters that you would care about. This book is volume 1 of three. Second and third volumes are mostly written. Just need some success on the first one to proceed. Thanks for your consideration

http://sieverbook.blogspot.com/
Siever The Hazards of Mandallass by Tim A. Brant

It takes a certain kind of person to haul freight between the climate controlled domed cities of Mandallass. It takes someone who is cool under pressure, not afraid to bend a few rules, and not too terribly attached to living. Jasced Siever is all of these. Battling sub-freezing temperatures, marauders, and ferocious creatures of unknown origin are all in a day's work for Siever.

Having narrowly survived an attack from a Yessen bounty hunter, Siever suddenly finds himself without a gunner, an untenable situation for a transporter on Mandallass. In a bind, he resorts to hiring Faith Berah, a dishonorably discharged military brat whose motives are dubious at best. She quickly pulls him into an adventure where authorities are the enemy, assassins shoot to kill, and things are not always as they seem.

Trust is fleeting. The threats are real. With the help of Faith, a sour police detective, and an old smuggling buddy, Siever might just win the day…unless one of them kills him first.

I, Connor, thought I was the average sarcastic teenager, living a normal life like everyone else with a crazy, annoying family. Wrong. I recently discovered that I have certain abilities. Abilities that link me to others like me, and others, unlike me, who want to cause me harm.
I found out this world is not what I thought, as well as the strange creatures in it, and that frightens me. I had to grow up fast and find the strength to defend myself from those beings who don’t want me here or who will take my strengths by any means necessary.
Throughout this craziness, I met a wonderful guy named Tony, who has abilities too. With him and several others like us we discover who we are and how we came to be.
Then there is Ronin, a being who is young, smart, and cunning. He is set on taking his revenge out on me yet I have no idea why.

Hi, Alex. I definitely remember you as an actor. My own SF novel, The Reality Matrix Effect, was published as a Kindle edition in January of this year, but it started as a short story I wrote circa 1970. I wrote most of the novel in the mid 1980s, but didn't try to publish until this year. So if you count from the original story to the novel's publication date, it took me even longer to write my book.

You might find my novel interesting. As with your book, it starts with a man who finds it hard to accept, as you put it, "man's inhumanity to man." You can see the description and first few chapters at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B78VR56 . I'm not sure what's changed at Kindle, but I wasn't able to look at your book preview online, only to download the sample. I was able to do that successfully, however, and I look forward to reading it.

Dormaine G. | 36 comments Connor, A YA Scifi dramaA YA science fiction story filled with secrets, sarcasm, and betrayal. Don’t expect this to be your typical picture-book ending.

Connor Esquibel recently discovers she has the gift of invisibility. As in no one can see her. She doesn’t realize how her life is about to change for the worse. She is 15, sarcastically funny, at least she thinks so, and doesn’t always like to face reality. She meets five other teenagers who have abilities similar to hers and they try to figure out how or why this is happening to them but not everyone is so excited about finding out the truth.

Connor senses she is being watched and that their lives are in danger, she is determined to figure things out by any means necessary. She has to grow up fast after she is slapped with the cold, hard, fact that the people she has known all of her life are not who she thought they were and all human beings are not what they appear to be.

Through all of this, Connor and one of the boys with abilities, Tony, develop feelings for each other causing jealousy in more ways than one. That is where Ronin comes in, he is smart, powerful, and ruthless. He too has eyes for Connor but not in the way you may think.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 491 comments The Legacy: Fate
Genre: Paranormal/Sci-Fi
Age appropriate: 17+

The Legacy is about an alien (LX or Alex for us Earthlings) who spent most of his life visiting and studying planets and their civilizations. From the moment of his birth until he became of age, he studied and prepared for his calling. Now some 407-earth years later, on a routine exploration mission that shouldn't have taken more than a few months, an incident happens, propelling his spaceship a zillion miles away from his original destination. He finds himself stranded on the third planet from a star called Sol.

With only a month or so to repair his ship before he starves to death, he is still confident. He's been to Earth before and knows her people. At least that was before he met Mellie. She is different from the humans he studied, with speed and strength unknown to Earthlings but strangely similar to his own species. Fascinated by her, he decides to use his unfortunate accident to learn more about her and those who called themselves vampires.

For her, he will break rules, his people's rules, until there is no turning back. To protect her, he may have to break the most sacred of them all: Do not kill.

My thoughts: If you're looking for something spotless (grammar and punctuation), this book isn't for you. I admit it; the narrative isn't perfect, although I wished it were. Some people told me it makes the story feel more authentic as it is told in the first person POV by Alex.

Strangely, I've come to think of him as a real person, after all, we're both 'aliens'. (He is from another planet, while I am from another country.) Seriously, it may be because I want to believe that there is life other than us in the universe. We can't be the only ones. Can we?

How it came to be? One night my husband and I were talking about TV shows, movies, and books and he made the comment that although we had seen it all on aliens and vampires, we had never seen one that had both together. The next day I sat at my computer and started the three-year long journey. I had both books finished before I published Fate. I am currently revising and editing The Legacy: Destiny, which I expect to publish in early 2014.

The Legacy: Fate is sold on Amazon, SmashWords, Barnes & Nobles, Apple store, Kobo, and other places, but I am always willing to give you a free copy, and no, you don't have to write a review in exchange, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The Legacy Fate (The Legacy, # I) by G.G. Atcheson
The Legacy: Fate

(Official synopsis: When an untimely accident brings Alex back to Earth, the last thing he expected was to fall in love. The survival rules are strict; do not fraternize with the natives. After a betrayal lands him in the hands of the military, he discovers he is not the only one held captive. They are experimenting on vampires. Afraid that his love might be among them, he frees them all as he escapes. Meanwhile mysterious storms are devastating big cities. Soon, they will learn of their origin. Can they put aside their grudge against humankind to save the planet from certain annihilation?)

Douglas (douglewis) | 2 comments Hey Team,

I'm Doug, from Austin, and my debut humor/science-fiction novel, To Cure the Humans!, is now available in paperback and Kindle format.

So far it has received positive (4-and 5-star) reviews. One critic gushed "...way funnier than Cannery Row." I'm running a book giveaway here on Goodreads that runs until Nov 21st. I'd encourage you to enter. I'd also encourage you to offer me a movie deal - if you're in a position to do so.

Cheers

Dormaine G. | 36 comments Connor is a YA Urban Fantasy filled with, secrets, betrayal and dysfunctional romance.

Connor, recently discovers she has abilities, one being the gift of invisibility. As in no one can see her. She doesn't realize how her life is about to change for the worse. She is 15, sarcastically funny, at least she thinks so, and doesn't always like to face reality. She meets five other teenagers who have abilities similar to hers and they try to figure out how or why this is happening to them but not everyone is so excited about finding out the truth.

After Connor senses she is being watched and that their lives are in danger, she is determined to figure things out by any means necessary.

Jeff Dawson | 32 comments Destination D.C. by Jeff Dawson

Muki, Abdul, Judith and Larry endured a harrowing thirteen days in the bowels of the Pioche Complex with Professor Leonoid Skorzenzy. Relieved they survived the adventure, will they be able to resume the summer vacation they originally started out on or will the events of the past continue to haunt them?

And what of Nathan Francisco? Will he allow the kids to leave the confines of Nevada unscathed or will he make sure they never enjoy their new found fortune they won at his casino?

Did the message Judith deliver to General McCulloch reach the appropriate authorities, or is there something more sinister infecting the US GOVERNMENT?

Strap yourselves in for the continuing adventures!
