10.3 -- Spare Me Outcast Mine - prison planet Tantoret I don't want to have to be in prison anyways, but especially not sent to a prison planet where I spend the rest of my life underground mining a toxic substance. The toxicity eventually poisons you to the point that you just kind of bleed out. NOT for me!

I read The Emerald Atlas, it fits option D), because the main character and her 2 siblings have lived in orphanages their whole lives, despite being sure their parents are alive. Throughout the book they try to figure out what has happened to their parents, why they left them, and what their mentor (a mysterious old wizard) knows about their family.

North Korea – too oppressive – I don’t think they’d want me anyways.
As an aside, I had the opportunity to hear Laura speak, and she was fantastic. Did you know that the main reason why Bill Clinton was able to negotiate her release was because when he was president, he was the first foreign leader to telephone Kim Jong Il when his father died? Kim Jong Il thought that was great and as a result had a desire to meet him. Just goes to show that one little act of courtesy can have far reaching consequences.

Really enjoyed the book, but it is set in Patagonia, which seems to be a fairly hostile place, especially in the early 1800's. I like hotels, ice cream, and people who want to pamper rather than kill me.
