Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments And Vicks vaporub... don't forget the Vicks Vaporub lol (otherwise you might need a bucket)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Good thinking Lorraine. You have obviously done this before?

message 162: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments No Sarah, I'll be honest... it's from wondering what that stuff was that they put under their noses in the autopsy scene in The Silence of the Lambs... only found out a few years later what it actually was. Not sure how, but it might be from reading the book actually.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Lol. I learned to breathe through my mouth from working in hospitals. There were many scents in the air, most less than fragrant!

Hahaha... I learnt that from my parent's fridge lol ! They like smelly cheeses...

EDIT... and still I could feel the taste of the smelly air on my tongue... eeewww

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I bought a selection of cheese from a continental market here and had to store them in a friends garage the smell was so bad.We then had to transport them 300mls the car stank for days.Phil wanted to throw them out after 20 minutes.

message 166: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments urgh, can't even begin to imagine lol. Especially if the car was hot and the cheese fairly ripe !

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments If my memory serves me right it was in June Lorraine. They were a present for friends we were staying with for a few days. They loved them.

message 168: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Lol imagine if they didn't !! If I had to travel with stinky cheese and the recipients weren't happy I'd think I'd forcefully cram said cheeses down their throats lol !

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I now have a picture of that in my mind Lorraine, there were some odd shapes as well as smells.HeHe.Thanks for the laugh Petal off to bed now, have to get up at 6.30am,Sleep well!

message 170: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Night night Sarah ! Hope you don't have nightmares of cheeses on legs running after you ! xx

message 171: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Yes, Vicks is a must in Post Mortems. I'm trying to dig Pete up but can't remember where I buried him in my garden! lol

message 172: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Maybe the dogs can help Mel?

message 173: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Haha! Maybe they could! ;-)

message 174: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments They might already have dug him up and gobbled him up without your knowledge you know ?

message 175: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments The vicks trick really works, i used that when i was in the anatomy labs at uni. Until I learnt to love the smell...

message 176: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments blocking the thought lol - am having lunch

message 177: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Gross thanks for that Jud!

I'll shake the dogs upside down and see what drops out, Lorraine! lol

message 178: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments i will point out that the smell was of formaldehyde and not decaying bodies :o) so its wasnt a horrible smell!

message 179: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Sorry Jud I'm not a fan of formaldehyde either lol !

Mel if you do that I'll call Brigitte Bardot !

message 180: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I wouldn't hurt my pooches anyway! I got in touch with her foundation once about a deformed cow in a neighbour's farm and they ignored me. ;-( This cow can't use it's front legs, walks on it's elbows and has laminitis (overgrown hooves)not good at all. Two years later it's still sitting in a field suffering, just can't get anyone to take notice of my complaints!

Sad really.

Oh that's awful ! Poor cowie :(

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments That's awful Mel and having to see it is in many ways as painful for you as for the poor beast. Is there no RSPCA equivalent in France?

message 183: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Yes there is but they're obviously less proactive than in the UK :(

message 184: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I've tried to get help, but no one is willing to help me! ;-( It is awful to see every day Sarah, you're right!

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Just a thought, could you buy the cow from him and we could adopt him or something,I would love to help and I am sure others would.

message 186: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Would Dotty object to us having a second mascot?

message 187: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments what Dotty doesnt see Dotty doesn't need to know about...

message 188: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I feel guilty already for writing that I AM SORRY DOTTY!

message 189: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments What about talking to a local vet and see if there's anything they advise you to do Mel?

message 190: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I've asked several vets Lorraine and they just shrug as though it's normal.

It's sad, sorry to bring it here!

Happy talk now! ;-)

message 191: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments OK happy talk it is... so when are you bringing Pete back... because that would REALLY be happy talk for me !

message 192: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) LOL, he's in the doggy story, Lorraine! ;-)))

message 193: by Lorraine (last edited Nov 25, 2011 10:05AM) (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I know Mel, is that because you know that I still haven't bought this one yet that you keep reminding me?

message 194: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) No. I thought you'd bought it already! ;-)

I felt guilty for killing Pete off so incorporated his in that one with Lorne! ;-)

message 195: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments :)

Am in no rush anyway, like I said I need to read the next book first, then I can bring him back from the dead with the doggie story :)

message 196: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments Maybe you should write a book from Pete's point of view? (: A short story when he takes on a case without Lorne's knowledge or something? (:
