Quotes from A Touch of Trolls by Year Five

Remember that awesome year 5 class that I keep banging on about? They've put together a 'brainless, gruesome and disgusting' short story collection called 'A Touch of Trolls'. Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book.

Rufus tiptoed into the fish-smelling, bogey-covered, troll-smothered cave, only to find Gunkfreak wide-awake, with two of his horrific fingers, up two of his horrific nostrils!

- Lucy

"Oh farb!" murmured Bruno. "I mean oh bother ..."

- Daisy

"Hi Betty! Hi Belinda! Why are...

If You Go Down to the Woods Today...

Class 5A at Penryn Junior School (otherwise known as the dance group 'Trollversity') took a troll dance to Trelissick Gardens as part of the Festival of Landscape and Dance. I was delighted both to witness the dance and finally get the chance to meet the two dozen children, aged 9 and 10, who have been doing a project on real trolls.

A Crowd of Smelly 5A Trolls

Trollversity

The project, which arose after the class read The Troll Trap earlier this year, included making salt clay trolls, writing gruesome troll descriptions...

CreateSpace – Impressions After Publishing Four Paperbacks

I was a keen advocate of FeedARead. They published beautiful copies of Seesaw and Pompomberry House. However, FeedARead charge £88 for extended distribution, which means you can only sell your books in shops such as Amazon is you stump up the best part of £100 per title. Whilst I've sold tens of thousands of books, ninety-nine percent of my sales are eBooks, meaning that paperback sales barely cover their setup costs. For this reason and this reason alone, I published my two children's books...

Interview with The Ogre of Uggle

A young lady who goes my the name of 'NoodleDoodle' has been brave enough to interview the huge, fearsome, half-troll/half-giant known as The Ogre of Uggle.

Questions include: 'Did you know someone has written a book about trolls?' and 'If you had a barbeque what would be your favourite thing to cook on it?'

You can read the full interview at NoodleDoodle's blog.

Many thanks to the brave young blogger. And we are happy to report that, despite what The Ogre might have said, NoodleDoodle and her B...

My Pledge to Portray Mental Health Sensitively in my Books

Ever since I found out that Time to Change, the campaign to end mental health discrimination, had created a pledge wall, I have been planning to add a vow. Today I chose one.

"I pledge to portray mental health sensitively in my books."

Why did I pick the portrayal of mental health in my books?

I considered several pledges, for example talking openly about mental health, but lots of people like Denise Welch, Gary Beadle and Liz McClarnon have vowed to talk more about the issue.

The portrayal of me...

The Independent has Featured The Troll Trap

'Kids will laugh themselves silly,' says Rebecca Davies of The Independent, with respect to my dÉbut children's title, The Troll Trap.

The Independent has just started a brand new children's book blog. Rebecca reserves a slot, once a month, for 'a brilliant children's book that I feel hasn't been getting the attention it deserves.' The Troll Trap is the first such book to be featured.

Read Children's Books: Recommended read - 'The Troll Trap' by Rosen Trevithick.

Many thanks to Rebecca for readi...

The BoxTrolls - Upcoming Film About Trolls

My brother sent me a trailer for an upcoming film, The BoxTrolls. It will be a feature length animation based on Alan Snow's best-selling novel 'Here Be Monsters'.

The trailer itself is delightful and I'm very glad that trolls will be in the media next year, when the film is released.

The BoxTrolls will be created by Laika Entertainment wo are nown for 'Coraline' (2009) and ParaNorman (2012).

Announcing My Granny Write Erotica

Here's a sneak peek at the blurb and cover for my next novella, My Granny Writes Erotica.

"Where on God's green earth l am I going to raise that sort of money? I'm a pensioner!" thought Betty. Then her eyes fell on her daughter's copy of Fifty Shades of Grey.

65-year-old Betty had given up on her life's ambition to write a bestselling novel. However, after walking in on her husband with a lady of the night, she finds herself single and with mounting debts. In need of a 'get rich quick' scheme,...
