Jill Williamson I don't know. The way that Goodreads Lists work, people can add whatever they want. There are several books on the list that shouldn't be.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

agree! Maybe they voted on according to content instead of Christian publishers or something...

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

aren't we supposed to vote based on content? I mean, the girl who wrote Twilight is LDS (yes. Mormons are Christian), but I wouldn't consider it a clean book.

message 4: by Jill (new)

Jill Williamson I had hoped people would vote based on content...

message 5: by Lacie (new)

Lacie Twilight is terrible! It is soooo not christian. Vampires are of the devil and hell. I would never want anyone to read it. Why is it on here?

message 6: by Mary (new)

Mary Why is the Christy Miller Series so low? Those are the books every Christian girl needs to read!!!

message 7: by Gabs (new)

Gabs Umm...the Goose Girl isn't christian fiction.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Gabi wrote: "Umm...the Goose Girl isn't christian fiction."

I think because it's just general clean, good fiction. Basically, it's not "un-Christian" haha.

Okay, that makes sense.

message 10: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Lott Anyone have any suggestions on Catholic fiction for pre-teen/teens?

message 11: by Ducky (new)

Ducky Lacie wrote: "Twilight is terrible! It is soooo not christian. Vampires are of the devil and hell. I would never want anyone to read it. Why is it on here?"

because it also talks about Christians values such as love, life( not aborting her child.)

Christy Miller was really really good. She's not Catholic but she is Christian and she helped those through Highschool

message 13: by Jessica (new)

Jessica The problem with this list is that there is no one assigned as "curator" - the person who determines if a book fits the criteria of a list and adds or removes books as needed - and it's set up so anyone can add books. There are a lot of books on here that were either added by mistake, added because people didn't bother to read the title/purpose of the list, or added because a lot of people out there are just rude trolls (unfortunately, I think a lot of the latter). I mean, "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner"? On a "clean", "Christian" reading list? Come on!

message 14: by Kit (new)

Kit Ummm... I don't think The Other Boleyn girl should be there.

message 15: by Jane (new)

Jane Not sure if it's on the list but Angel Eyes is a really good Christian book!

message 16: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Thank you for saying this!!

Samantha Raeburn Jane wrote: "Not sure if it's on the list but Angel Eyes is a really good Christian book!"
Yes it is on the list, and I agree it is a good book

message 19: by Chris (new)

Chris Do Hard things isn't fiction. It's fantastic, but not fiction...

Cynthia Tanya wrote: "Anyone have any suggestions on Catholic fiction for pre-teen/teens?"
Hi, Tanya. I'm over two years late replying, but my novels have a Catholic main character and are for pre-teens and young teens: 8 Notes to a Nobody and 10 Steps to Girlfriend Status. They are on the Goodreads Listopia list, Books for Catholic Teens, if you want to see a whole bunch. Happy reading ... Cynthia T. Toney, author

Hi Jessica, I haven't fully looked thru this list, but I started trolling the comments first, probably good thing I did, cuz when I came across your comment, that would've been something I would've been concerned w/also...I've got a teen son and a pre-teen daughter that i'm looking for books for outside of some of the stuff he's been reading, any other suggestions, I'm open for, have a great night

message 22: by Nola (new)

Nola Byrum Please don't limit what your kids can read just because some books aren't completely "clean". If you protect your children too much, they WILL rebel and read even dirtier books behind your back. Just give your children the freedom to read what they like.

message 23: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Averette I wish my library would carry these books most of them are not there

message 24: by Moss (new)

Moss I know! I can't find most of them at my library

message 25: by Gabi (new)

Gabi Sutton Stacy wrote: "I wish my library would carry these books most of them are not there"

I think most libraries have a way to request certain books that you want to read but that they don't carry. Ask your local librarian.

message 26: by Moss (new)

Moss Thank you Gabi! I will ask

message 27: by Diana (new)

Diana Beware, don't let anyone Add Sarah J. Maas' books to the list.

A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and fury, A Court of Frost and Starlight, A Court of Wings and Ruin and Empire of Storms feature adult-aged characters and Explicit sexual scenes. You can find alcohol consumption, sexual abuse, abusive love interests and frank talk of sexual nature.

Those books are shelved as New adult, Adult and Erotica, but as they're marketed as YA, many people make the wrong assumption that they're Young adult books.

message 28: by Michelle (new)

Michelle You probably have a lot of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints following this list because they do share traditional Christian values, based on their revere for Jesus Christ and his teachings. To say Mormonism is a cult is misinformed. Supporting one another in the beliefs we do hold common can result in a stronger list of uplifting, literature for our kids.

Isaiah (aka Isaiah Ward) Herrero I can understand as labeling these books as clean fiction just FYI (not all of these are by Christian authors), which is fine but I'm not sure why label it as clean christian fiction. Just thought i should point that out.
