It is! :) It's great if you love to send/get mail. Yup, snail mail is still alive. :D

If you join in, I have a book group there called Carpe Librum. We don't do a whole lot but we are regularly active. And, it's where both Ray and Caly come from after I pimped out NBRC in my group there. :D

Katie | 1634 comments This challenge sounds so epic and awesome that I'm willing to read a book or two out of my comfort zone (though, I know you just said we won't have to, Karsyn, which makes me happy!). I'm really looking forward to it. :)

Elise F (elise_literaryhabitat) I'm not sure if I missed the answer above (there's a lot of posts to scroll through!), but if I'm currently a co-captain over at "Perks" for the Uno Challenge, and I think I'm ready to be a captain, can I nominate myself for this one?
Sorry if this has already been answered! :)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 5928 comments i think reading out of your comfort zone is one of the perks of this group and reading groups in real life. I have read more different genres since joining goodreads than i ever did - read books that have challenged my mind, made me sad, made me laugh out loud. I cannot wait for the readathon where we make suggestions i have so many great ideas. The book group i run picks books by lottery almost everyone comes with a suggestion gets a raffle ticket and if their ticket is picked out they pick the book. Many of them i would never have picked up but there is only 1 that i really did not get anything from and i have finished them all. Variety is now my spice of reading life

I'm with you Marie. I find I get in a rut if not for reading challenges and BOMs. They do stretch my reading (although I still stay away from Horror - just not for me)

I'm with you on the horror - but when a challenge allows and I really have to read horror I go for a children's horror as long as the page numbers fit - like goosebumps. Still pretty horror-ble but I can cope - lol.

Cait S | 2825 comments ^ That's so funny! (Funny as in how similar to me, not funny as in you not liking horror lol) Whenever I'm in a reading slump or I just can't find anything to stick with, I pick up the goriest, most terrifying book I can possibly find. The more messed up the better. Without fail it'll knock me back into a good streak.

But I do that exact same thing with non-fiction. I haaaaate non-fiction...so whenever I have to read it, I go for like middle grade/YA if possible. Much easier to sit through and goes a lot faster.

I love, love, love non-fiction!!!! I read it all fiction, scifi/fantasy, biographies, American Indian history, american old west history, American Civil War history, Vietnam War true stories, true ghost stories, religious, true interesting facts about all things, European history, to name a few. If it looks and sounds interesting I will read it. The older I get the more I love and enjoy the non-fiction (I am 57 be 58 this year). In fact I crave the non-fiction the older I get. But I still love and enjoy my fiction too!!!!!rofl smile

message 266: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments I've found that the only non-fiction written for adults that I can sit through is like...really sad or really scary. Stuff about plagues or survival stories from sinking ships, things like that. Just your average non fiction, I still can't get through. Challenges like this really push me though because I'm definitely the kind of reader who will pick the task no one else wants to do or no one else can find something for. And I have surprised myself with the books I like in genres I don't usually read :)

You would love the Appalachian Trail true stories then, these are true stories people wrote that walked the Appalachian Trail from beginning to end. When you read them you feel as if you are walking it right beside them!!!! They will make you laugh, feel every thing they went through doing it.smile You can get the books and ereaders on Amazon.

I hope so. :)

We really won't push you into something you don't wanna read. It's easier than that, it's just a lot of working together. That'll be key.

Audrey Jane | 1815 comments Just out of curiosity (and I couldn't find it in the Wobble threads), will there be bonus points given for participation in the BOM's like in some of the previous team challenges? Or is that only for Tower Teams?

Looking forward to how this team challenge will finally look like! And I'm always amazed with the spreadsheets and the management of the teams progress :) Hats off to you mods (and captains of course).

As of currently (and not everything is complete) there are no plans to have bonus points for BOMs. I think that's more specific to Tower Teams, trying to get more people to read the BOMs.

You can get Gem Coins by participating in BOMs though, if you are looking for incentive. :) Those will be appearing starting with the June BOMs.
