Tammie | 4553 comments I can do heat one as well.
I have a very large library of Free/Kindle

I subscribe to BookBub via my iPad. You populate with the books you like and daily you receive an email of free or really cheap books. Check it out.

I will go to Kindle 1st to see what's available and try to make a chain.

Sam, if you have access to War Horse I have a book to go with it (The Lemonade War), or if you have access to Secret Heart, Margaret matches with Heart of the Hunter. I browsed your TBR list. :)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Ooh, you guys are getting right into the planning! I'm off to the beach right now:) so I'll be able to come online at night (WiFi at the hotel, yay!) and see what books I can find that connect with any of yours. I'd rather do Heat 2 if that's okay, I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish a book fast. My (short, incomplete) list is on the page before if that helps.

I started Winner's Kiss yesterday but am only half way through so I don't know if I can finish it for Battleship. There's always Wheel though!

Ella | 367 comments Anyone who takes books from Netgalley, I just got a new one that would make this 5 (but since i've already got a book here I cant use it-- >Visibly Broken

It would then go in front of
Broken Promise(Karin)-->Promise of Blood (Rose-longer book, but I've been dying to read it))-->Blood: The stuff of Life (Ray)-->Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined (Ella- also very long-700+ pgs)

Another option for this would be
Visibily Broken (Ella)-->Promise of Blood (Rose-longer book, but I've been dying to read it))-->Blood Money (Tammie)

And then something starting with "Money". That would get you a shorter book, Ella.

Kazen Sam wrote: "I actually don't have a list of what I want to read for now, so anything works? Though I'm thinking about reading Four: A Divergent Story Collection"

Sam, for this challenge we really need to plan out the books exactly :/ If you have a list of books you have that you wouldn't mind reading it would help us a lot. Or if you see a way you can jump on to the beginning or end of a chain. :) This challenge is mandatory for everyone so you'll need to fit in somewhere.

message 777: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Brianna wrote: "I may finish An Ember in the Ashes before the end of Battleship. I'm not sure yet though"

If you do it's Battleship, if not we get to use it towards Wheel, so read fast but not too hard, okay? ;)

message 778: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I started an Event 1 Planning sheet in the Team Spreadsheet. It's long and doesn't fit on one screen, but you can Ctrl+F to search for words. I added all the books I saw mentioned here, minus the 1000+ page/uncertain ones. ;)

message 779: by Brianna (new)

Brianna Andreda | 422 comments I can read for either Heat 1 or Heat 2 - doesn't matter to me as I have chosen most of the books under 300 pages that I have on hand

Cat's Cradle - 179 pages
A Clockwork Orange - 192 pages
Portnoy's Complaint - 274 pages
Naked Lunch - 289 pages
Where She Went - 264 pages
The Rosie Project - 295 pages
War of the Wildlands - 253 pages
The Murder on the Links - 232 pages
The Cinderella Murder - 320 pages

I have a bunch of ebooks (over 3,000) so if we need a link somewhere let me know and can search through the titles I have to find a suitable match

I think if it was a physical library my apartment would be swarmed with books. I'd have a book couch even though that doesn't sound comfy at all but cool.

I could do that but it would still be good if someone got 'visibly broken' since its a MMA fighting based book and would make a good coaching book for challenge 4 of olympics

message 783: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Thanks to the person that mentioned NetGalley - I forgot I have these titles available to download on Edelweiss:

Bird in a Cage
Eve Out of Her Ruins
Target in the Night

And my hold on this audiobook just came through:

So far I only have "war" as a match, in a line with "the" at the beginning and "wildlands" at the end, so not too easy to continue....

Do you have anything ending in "Primal" or "visibly" -- or starting with "money" or "posted"?

message 785: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Ella wrote: "I could do that but it would still be good if someone got 'visibly broken' since its a MMA fighting based book and would make a good coaching book for challenge 4 of olympics"

I like this idea - fighting books won't be the easiest to come by :/

message 786: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I collected the chains we have so far that seem to be hanging together - scroll up to the goals graphic to see what we've come up with :)

And to those who are waking up to a lot of new posts - apologies!

Nice. I've got a lot of pairs which will hopefully multiply when I wake up and more people have posted lists. :) Really going to sleep now!

Brianna Andreda | 422 comments I have The Perfect Hope but I'm not that far in the series yet, I'm just on the first book. If anyone would like to read it, I can email them an ebook copy of it (either epub or mobi).

message 791: by Brianna (new)

Brianna Andreda | 422 comments I'm going to wait on the rest of my books to sync to my computer (I just got a new one). So once my google drive syncs, I'll be back.

Ella | 367 comments Kazen wrote: "I like this idea - fighting books won't be the easiest to come by :"

Yes especially since they have a specific type of fighting/ boxing requirement. i have books with lots of fighting but its just gangster mafia books and they don't qualify.

message 793: by Ella (last edited Jul 01, 2016 01:59AM) (new)

Ella | 367 comments We could also do it this way, Ray, if u dont want blood:the stuff of life-->
EITHER
Broken Promise(Karin)-->Promise of Blood (Rose-longer book, but I've been dying to read it)-->Blood Money(Tammie)-->Money for Nothing(Brianna)-->Nothing but Trouble (Ella)

OR

Broken Promise(Karin)-->Promise of Blood (Rose-longer book, but I've been dying to read it)-->Blood: The stuff of Life (Ray)-->Life after Life(brianna)-->Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined (Ella- also very long-700+ pgs)

Oh wow, you made your own string there!

Strings for the game have to have different people for each book, but these are all common words that will pair nicely with other people's reads, yea!

message 798: by Kazen (new)

Kazen In other news...

After a couple of false starts I finally got into Who Will Catch Us As We Fall today - doubt I'll finish it in time so it will be a downtime read that goes towards Wheel.

And I found a book hiding on my ereader that can go towards strings: Level Up :)

message 799: by Kazen (new)

Kazen

Hey all,

The past 24 hours have been a bit crazy so here's a quick recap.

First - Battleship is ending in hours! Check out this update post for links to countdown timers. Remember that there's a 12 hour gap between Battleship and Olympics!

Second - Post your "on hand TBR" (as explained in that update post) so we can start forming chains for the first Olympic event. We have world class string formers armed with Excel and an abundance of wits, but we need a list of books to, uh, string. Remember, this is a required event for everyone.

That's the big stuff. :) I'll be updating the spreadsheet with the last Battleship books after the event closes so keep those reads coming! :D

message 800: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments I also have readily available

City of Thieves
American Assassin (longer)
And one more that takes place in Australia, but I cannot remember the name at the moment!

I'm not on a list right now, but I have many library's available to me.
