April, Week 3
Cards complete: 53 of 112
Hands complete: 4 of 16
Two hands are only missing a color card
I'm not going to touch on specific numbered cards we still need — just keep reading and I'll keep fitting everything in as best I can and rearranging if needed!
However, for our color cards this is what we have.
Color cards
7 Yellow
8 Yellow
5 Red - Kaley
3 Green - Ilsen (Ilsen, are you still planning to read for this?)
A quick note, since we had some posts for yellow cards: Some of the ones posted were ruled too orange/brown to be used for yellow. Sorry all :( I just wanted to point it out so that you were all aware why they were not used for a color card.
I found something for 5 red, so I'm going to take that one on.
Mini challenge
Part 1 is done!
Part 2 words:
knife (already used)
sharp (already used)
egg
sugar
bowl
cream
liquid
oven
water
whisk
spray
flame
vanilla
spoon
hot
Part 3 is about 1/3 done.
I am planning to finish my 5 red book and then focus on cozy mysteries for the rest of the month, so I'm hoping a lot of the words are easy to find in those. Other words like hot, water, etc. should be relatively easy to find within the text of most books.
Again, if you're reading something and find a different word that's in the recipe — like you're reading something scifi and "spacesuit" or "stardust" shows up, I will gladly change out one of the current words for that. Just let me know if your book fits for something else, and I'll make sure to make that change. I just wanted to pick some words to provide some more guidance to you all.
Let me know if you have any questions!

The FINAL COUNTDOWN is posted.
There are about 43.5 hours left in the challenge.
In the next 24 or so hours I will start rearranging our spreadsheet. Since we can't get points for future hands until a previous hand is completed, I'll have to move a lot of the color cards to non-color spots just to make sure we can get those points.
I'm also going to have to evaluate how to place everything for optimal point value. One option to complete more hands is to skip all the "Skip" spaces, which is allowed -- but I'll have to look at if the points for hands completed will outweigh points missed for skipping those spaces (since Skips are worth more than regular numbered cards).
We also have two Pixie books to add (replacing Alexis) so you will see those added in before the final spreadsheet is done.
Just wanted to check in to let you all know about the countdown and explain why the spreadsheet will get a major overhaul in the next two days!
Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm assuming you're talking about One of Us Is Lying?
I also saw that you recently finished On the Come Up and Mirage this month. Do you mind putting all these books on your Uno shelf? Thanks!

It was a miserable, hot summer morning when the group of fairies gathered at the shore to hear the story of their friend, the astronaut, and his trip to outer space. Their friend had left on an extravagant adventure nearly a hundred days ago and promised to regale them with tales of his adventures upon his return. He said he would meet them at first light, but the sun continued to rise without any sign of him. The Blue Fairy, always in a temper and bored by the quiet morning, huffed, "How dare he keep us waiting?"
"Oh, calm down," the Pink Fairy replied. "You know how mortals are. Their sense of time is not as acute as ours."
The Blue Fairy folded her arms across her body in reply.
"I think it's wonderful that he even is willing to share his stories with us at all," chimed in the Green Fairy, who stood up and began to dance daintily around their tea table. "And he promised to bring us the most delectable desserts from his travels! How lucky we are!"
"I am getting rather hungry," replied the Purple Fairy. "I do wish he would get here with breakfast already."
Just then, a shadow loomed over the four fairies. They looked up to see the astronaut heading toward them, a tray in his hand.
"Oh, he's here!" the Green Fairy exclaimed, and she spilled over a glass of water in her excitement.
The Blue Fairy sighed again. "It certainly took you long enough."
"Don't be cross," the astronaut replied, "for I have the most wonderful stories to tell you. But first, we eat."
He set down the tray of Galactic Creme Brulee desserts, and the four fairies each grabbed one. They spooned pieces into their mouths and looked up expectantly.
"Well?" they asked together.
The astronaut looked at each of them separately, then leaned in toward them so they could hear better. "Let me start from the beginning."

I love it!! I would've never come up with a story as awesome as this. Thanks for writing it!

We have about 3.5 hours left of the challenge. Countdown here.
I have 12 additional hours after that to finalize the spreadsheet. So please post any new books finished in the next 3.5 hours as soon as possible, because we still have openings in our regular hands. We have about 11 more books for me to place currently, which I will do first thing in the morning.
Thanks all!

Hi Anna,
Were you able to verify the word count for this somewhere? I believe screenplays fall into the "plays" category and we can't use it unless we can verify a word count of 25,000 or audio length of 3+ hours. I tried checking and couldn't find it anywhere, so I wanted to check with you.

We've got 'em! I'm finalizing the spreadsheet now :)
