Ilsen | 161 comments I have a question. I know books that you started before don’t count. But if I had a book that I started before but I decided to start the book all over again, would that count?

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1571 comments Hi all,

April cards have been posted. I will tally up all the #s of each card later, but wanted to go ahead and give you all the list of color cards now. Since April is the last month of the challenge, we have many more color cards than previous months.

Here's the list:

1 Yellow - M
5 Yellow
7 Yellow
8 Yellow
2 Red - M
5 Red
8 Red
9 Red
9 Red - Kaley
3 Green - Ilsen
4 Green - M
3 Blue
6 Blue - Kaley
6 Blue - M

We also have four Wild Draw 4s. Luckily for us, one of those is in a hand with a color card and a Draw 2, so we can use one book for both! (So we don't need to duplicate 5 Yellow)

I also just wanted to take a minute to let you all know how much I appreciate all of you. There are so many things going on in the world right now and a lot of uncertainty, and the fact that you all still get on and post what you're reading means a lot to me. I know there are so many more important things to focus on right now! So thank you all for that! And thank you to those of you on the front lines -- It sounds like several of you are in the healthcare field, and just know you are so appreciated! As are all of you in essential fields that are helping the world move forward right now.

M Beal | 317 comments I have a series I have been holding onto, I can cover - 2 red - 4 green - 6 blue - 1 Yellow

message 407: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 161 comments I don’t know which yellow card it will apply to but I’m planning on reading Capturing the Devil next month! I also want to claim 3 Green for A Heart So Fierce and Broken! I have other books that can work for color cards but those are the two that I’m for sure going to read in April!

message 408: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1571 comments Have all of those down. Ilsen -- I think Capturing the Devil might have too much black to be considered majority yellow . . . but there are still plenty of non-color cards we can use it for :)

Sorry I missed this earlier! That shouldn't be a problem, unless it's been on your currently reading this whole time. Then I would just switch it back to "to-read" and then back to currently reading once you start it.

As long as you haven't read (and finished) the book within the last six months and you start it from the beginning, it should work from my understanding.

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1571 comments Hi everyone!

Just under 12 hours left for March. As of right now, we will have finished the mini challenge (as soon as I finish my last book -- I only have like 30 pages left!). We have about 11 books left to finish the main hands (not counting the one I'll be finishing shortly).

if you have any more you think you'll have done before the deadline, please let me know so I can plan accordingly! I plan to try to binge-listen to a few short audiobooks now that I'm done with work for the day to get that number down.

message 419: by M (new)

M Beal | 317 comments I can probably get 1 more finished in 12 hours, maybe 2 if I ignore the pile of dishes in my sink and dirty laundry mountain.

message 420: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen | 161 comments I’m almost done with one but I think that’s all I’m getting for March!

message 421: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1571 comments Also, part of the mini challenge was to use words from book titles to come up with a story:
Once you have everything you need to get ready, tell us a little story, why don't you?
A little anticipation on what you expect to encounter in your preparations, or your travels. Maybe a crazy mishap during your travels, maybe a totally wonderful yet incredibly unbelievable romance....

Use the titles of 15 books to tell us your memoirs. Be as creative as you like. You can use as much or as little of a title as you see fit.

Here are the book titles I am using, as well as the story. Let me know your thoughts! If anyone has changes or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

1. Outcast
2. The Lightest Object in the Universe
3. Something Wicked This Way Comes
4. Specter of the Past
5. The Lost Days of Agatha Christie
6. Mass Effect: Revelation
7. The Icarus Hunt
8. The Warrior's Path
9. The Graveyard Book
10. Warlords and Wastrels
11. Treasure Island
12. Relic
13. City of Ghosts
14. The Library at Mount Char
15. Waistcoats & Weaponry

Story:
There was only one thing standing between the Outcast and his trip through the universe — the funds for transport. He had tried to give up the wicked ways of his past and earn an honest living, but he had lost patience after coming to the revelation that he was still many months away from achieving his goal. He made his decision: the hunt for gold was on. He hurried down the path in the dark graveyard, a flashlight in his hand as he descended into the crypt of former warlords, hoping to find some treasure or an ancient relic without disturbing any vengeful, angry ghosts. After cracking open the tomb, he muttered worriedly to himself. "Books! Piles of books in a warlord's tomb? It makes no sense. What use does he have for this library down here?" The Outcast pushed the books aside and found what he had come in search of — all sorts of weaponry, gems, and coins. He smiled to himself. Soon, he would be spacebound.
