OMG, I'm so sorry. I'm noting it. Please forgive me. I started a new job, and it's a LOT. I'm kinda overwhelmed.

Feel free to note it in bold and caps next time. I will not be offended. Like

THREE DICE ANITA FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!!!!

I promise to do better. I really bit off more than I can chew - - hopefully I adjust sooner rather than later.

Not a problem at all, Anita! I will ask for it tomorrow. I appreciate all you do for us, and a new job is stressful! I totally understand.

Theresa | 15526 comments Greetings all! Picnic tomorrow and Friday on the platform of the Subdue Express! I brought back from my trip to my home area upstate NY a couple local specialties for all: spiedies from Lupos Char Pit (chicken and pork) which originated in my home area, and the best BBQ chicken with salt potatoes as the side from a roadside stand called Big Dipper BBQ. Salt potatoes are another Central New York specialty. I suspect BnB, NancyJ, and RobinP have at least heard of spiedies and salt potatoes. For the rest - https://www.foodigenous.com/post/a-sp... and https://www.ediblefingerlakes.com/202...

@Anita - the Second Class Lounge Firefighters will be delivering your portions with sirens blaring so you don't miss out juggling 2 jobs and Subdue!

Very glad to know I am not alone. I thought there was a chance I would be.

message 360: by Sue (new)

Sue | 2719 comments I'm planning to use one of my swaps to read a different book with a longer page count. I'll make a note on my board.

Also - a Subdue Express Picnic sounds wonderful!

It's been hovering around 115 here in Phoenix, luckily I'm far from home on my extended train ride.

Amy | 12921 comments I’m so excited to picnic with you guys today. Perfect weather. Someone make sure to bring the kitty treats! Chocolate Chip Cookies for me! Strawberry lemonade. Egg Salad and Turkey sandwiches. Clearly not together.

I'm sure they're thrilled to have you, Anita. It's always overwhelming at the beginning, and then it will be old hat before you know it. Fingers crossed you keep your sanity until then! What would we do without you? :)

message 365: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 10083 comments I am ready for a roll of 3 dice please! (3)

I am using a benefit that allows 2 extra dice, which I'll note on my board. Thanks! :-)

Theresa | 15526 comments I just spotted a DJ and his turntable setting up on the Subdue Express Platform - seems the Cabanna Boys persuaded a buddy to join the picnic which promises to last through the weekend. Additional salads, spiedies, and BBQ Chicken - and Salt Potatoes - are being delivered courtesy of CGI Tom's assistant personally picking them up.

Get your music requests in! Personally, in honor of my recent pilgrimage to Woodstock, I have requested my favorite rock anthem, performed at the end of day 2 of the 3 days (or so a friend who was there tells me): White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-...

@Pam, honestly, I'm not feeling very competent at the moment. Like each day, I'm like maybe today is the day I'll get on top of it, but alas not yet. I'm a ball of stress. I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea!

Amy | 12921 comments Amy has posted her review and is ready for another one dice Porter Roll!

Anita, of the upcoming next six books, I have read 2, 3, and 4, all for Subdue already. So I am hoping for a 1, 5, or 6. I assume that if the dice rolls between 1 and 4, I am reading number one by default. But please let me know if I have the option to read title 5 or 6, even if my number roll stays where it is.

Amy, you just keep going backwardsu til you reach a book you haven't read. You don't move back to that space just read a book from behind you. You do not read forward.

message 373: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15526 comments @Amy - I looked at your Porter Board - as an example - if Ursula rolls 2 for you tomorrow, that puts you on 25 which you read. So staying on 25, you read 24 which you haven't read. After reading and reviewing 24, Ursula rolls you 1, which moves you to 26. You have also read that so you look back until you find one you have not read - i.e. #22. Read, review, roll and repeat until you land on a book you haven't read and can read it without looking back.

Robin is the expert in this as she only had 25 titles for entire board and by halfway she had read them all.

message 374: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12921 comments Yes. This is why I assume that if I roll between a one and a four, I have to read number one. But the good news for me is that all of the titles for me or unread an open between 28 and 50. I won’t have a problem like this for a long while.

Yes, that’s right, it can happen that several rolls end up with the same book because you’ve read the ones in between.

A favorite!

As JoAnne's blueberry tarts are nearly gone and I don't see Kate's pavlova lasting until tomorrow, your Cherry Cobbler is arriving at the right moment!

If it wasn't so beastly humid and hot in NYC and my kitchen right now, I'd bake up some brownies. However, I've inveigled my sister to bake some of her best cookies -- the ones she sends me at Christmas -- and they will arrive tomorrow. Along with a fresh supply of Meowy Wowwy for Gnarly.

CGI Tom is making sure the picnic table remains loaded with food and beverages through the weekend!

Ursula can be quite unforgiving.... at least you have not been sent back to your prior board! I'm still recovering from that!

message 391: by Joy D (last edited Jul 28, 2023 09:38PM) (new)

Joy D | 10083 comments I believe that is another 1,1 for Kate, so I'll read a book from someone else's shelf in addition to the one I landed on. three spaces back in addition to the one I landed on.

Is there anyone for whom it would be easy to just spell it out? I’m in the Poconos where reception might be spotty. But I do believe I would be able to see it if somebody said Amy, you got a three.

I think with this roll you can move ahead up to 3 places by "spending" up to 3 participation points. I think that's one of my favorite rolls. I love the flexibility when I land on a book that I don't have yet, or one that just isn't right at the moment.

I wish I could "gift" some of my bonus moves to people who get stuck.

message 398: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12921 comments Yes, Nancy this helps me too!!!! With a two-one, I can move myself to number 27 and I would still be reading the same book anyway but I would just be that much farther along. I only have three participation points, but now seems like a pretty good time to use them.

Note to Anita and Joanne. I’m using my three participation points to move me from number 24 to 27. And because I have read books 25,26 and 27, I’m going to read the book from number 24 if you were mine. But just be farther along the track.

So Heather does get to use up to 3 of any earned participation points, Kate has sent Joy as leader back 3 spaces, and Amy .... I can't find what her roll before this ONE was so Anita anf JoAnne will have to sort out any advantages with her.
