Sophie | 1126 comments Here's round #2:

1. When I was 8 I was kicked in the face by my cousin's Thoroughbred (accidentally) and never told a soul because I was scared that she'd be put down in the same way that dogs are when they bite someone. I've still never told my family.

2. I used to sleep walk

3. I worked in Aachen, Germany in a paediatric GP surgery when I was 18.

4. I didn't need glasses until I was an adult

5. I swam my first mile when I was 11

6. I hate to say it but I'd be lost without my iPhone

7. I am frightened of slugs and spiders

8. I voted Labour yesterday

9. When I was 17 my drink was spiked with something. Thankfully nothing more serious happened than me trying to fight my mum...Who found my attempt hilarious (thanks mum)

10. I was in a mentally abusive relationship for 5 years from the age of 20 and didn't know how to get out. Not even my closest friends and family knew the full extent of it until the day I left him. I am a million times happier in all ways now that I am out of it and don't think it's done any permanent damage!

message 169: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) 10 More facts about me:

01. When I reminisced about a childhood memory about being in a bungalow, my parents insisted that never happened and that I was remembering something from a previous life. Yeah right!

02. I tried to learn Sanskrit, Japanese, and German (not at once) but couldn't grasp the challenge and gave up on the endeavor.

03. The hardest I've laughed in my life was when watching this youtube video(warning, explicit):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MN1v...

04. This was when I was 10 or so. I was at the beach, and I kept gazing at the back of what I thought was a topless European woman. Later the person turned and I saw it was a guy with long hair. Well, a month after that I saw that little embarrassing episode being reproduced as a gag in a cartoon in a magazine. To this day I don't know what to think about that!

05. Last year, I got the idea of starting a Youtube channel where porn videos are shown. Now, we all know that porn is NOT allowed on youtube. But what I did was to select only the start of the videos, where the actors are just talking. No nudity.

I only showed non action clips, and I was getting quite a few subscribers. One video got 55 000 views in 5 days. But soon I got 3 complaints about the channel and it was deleted.

06. For someone who is terrible at soccer, I got applauded twice when playing it at school. Once when I cleared a ball away, and once when I imitated a move that I've seen a real soccer player do.

07. I know the factoid that baldness is inherited from one's mother's side. I caught two doctors mistakenly say the opposite.

08. I was born left-handed, but as a kid, my mum disciplined me and made a right-handed person out of me(it sounds more sinister than it was). Till today I wonder whether I would be able to draw and paint if I had remained a lefty.(Given that one out of 3 artists are lefties).

09. I've never tasted or drunk alcohol or smoked a cigarette or done drugs.

10. The funniest book I've read is The Internet is a Playground by David Thorne. Reading it made me laugh out loud in public, which for me i exceptional. Here's the author's website...www.27bslash6.com.

At least you had the good sense to get out Sophie - I was there for 28 years. Ran away when I was in the middle of the desert in Australia. Best thing I ever did. Have never looked back! 8:D

message 181: by Groovy (new)

message 183: by Freda (new)

Freda Malone | 418 comments Here is another 10 from me. This is fun! I am loving these random facts from members. So fascinating and inspiring!

1. When I was 13 (1979) and attended a slumber party of girls, I was 'dared' to streak a whole city block in her neighborhood in Tucson, AZ. I did it and found it was not as fun as the teen movies showed. My mother found out and played the song THE STREAK, by Ray Stevens everyday for a week. She placed our speakers outside on the lawn of the air force base where we lived, to warn the airmen of my latest impropriety. Okay, so I was an early bloomer, what can I say?!? :D

2. I miss ironing battle dress fatigues. Used to do it for my boyfriend so he would receive higher scores during inspections. It wasn't long before his Marine buddies were asking me to iron theirs too.

3. I have always wanted to be a career military wife. Wasn't in the cards for me, sadly.

4. I secretly hope my twin boys marry twin girls so I can have twin grandbabies. *laughing*

5. I learned how to skate backwards just to impress the boys at the skating rink I frequented every weekend when I was a teen.

6. I remember having over 100 posters on my bedroom walls at one time. Half of them were blacklight posters, the other half, celebrities and bands. Scott Baio, Leif Garrett, John Travolta, Henry Winkler, David Cassidy, Bee Gees, Kiss, Beatles. Good times!!!

7. I was once proposed to at Disneyland, CA on the train ride. I turned him down and he left me there. *wince* Thank heaven I only lived a mile away.

8. My first car was a 1985 Dodge Charger Hatchback. Metallic Blue. I LOVED that car.

9. From age 19 to 23, I would not and could not sleep on anything but a waterbed. Loved those! I think it hindered my sex life though now that I think about it. LOL

10. I witnessed a man jump from a cliff to his suicide 12 years ago. I still see it sometimes in my mind. I would never wish that sight on my worst enemy.

message 184: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments These lists are great!!! Keep 'em comin'!!!

Freda, I used to iron fatigues, too. And dress blues. Yeeears ago.

I'm proud of all of you who got out of abusive relationships! Maybe by being forthcoming about it, you'll inspire someone who isn't out yet.

I think saving eggshells and giving them out to the birds in spring is a great idea. I've put a note on my fridge to remind me to do it.

Sophie | 1126 comments Sandy *The world could end while I was reading and I would never notice* wrote: "At least you had the good sense to get out Sophie - I was there for 28 years. Ran away when I was in the middle of the desert in Australia. Best thing I ever did. Have never looked back! 8:D"

I know the feeling! I don't think it matters if its for 1 year or 30, the emotional drain is intense, particularly keeping it hidden from your nearest and dearest. The relief you get from knowing it can't affect you and make you feel low anymore is one of the most liberating experiences I've ever felt. Just telling my family exactly how miserable I was felt like such a weight off my shoulders and gave me the confidence to say goodbye to him for good. I salute all women (and men, of course) who find that strength to make the break from a destructive relationship.

Freda, that proposal at Disneyland fact made me laugh so much! Not that you turned him down and he left you, but that you didn't live far away enough from Disneyland for it to be a disaster getting home again!!
