Ann Girdharry (anngirdharry) | 313 comments Christy, since you've been so honest and brave you've inspired me to join in on this thread!

Here's ten random this and that's -

1. I've lived in four different countries and I've enjoyed them all - (the UK, the USA, Norway and France)
2. My youngest daughter wanted to learn to roller blade so I took her to a class. It turned out they did an adult beginners so I joined up too. (She was eight years old then and became proficient in a few weeks. It took me around 2 years but now I can roller with the best of them!)
3. My favourite indulgence is chocolate and more chocolate
4. One of my favourite hobbies is gardening
5. Though my family are not at all traditional, they once tried to set up an arranged marriage for me - I was furious, and so acted utterly horrible to the guy and I am sure he totally loathed me - it went no-where
6. I'm an early riser
7. I'm very proud of my younger and my older sister - doctor and police officer respectively
8. I often bawl my eyes out at an emotional film, even if the rest of the auditorium is unmoved
9. Ditto for TV films that I'm watching with the family (my children used to find this embarrassing and weird and now they just hand me tissues and say things like 'oh Mum!' like they're totally exasperated)
10. We have three cats plus an old, stray one which comes to eat with ours

I am so glad that I inspired you (wow, thank you really) your list is fun to read....and you will find out it is the best! I was in too much pain to join in and answer some of their concerns for me yesterday (different thread), but I know these are the type of people, that except you at your worst. I have a trained service dog---very well trained, but you would be surprised to know he was a recue dog in his previous life! You never know what you will get when you take in an animal that didn't seem loved enough for some people to keep and cherish.....in my case they messed up big time! (Of course I couldn't do the training myself, though!) the love and gratitude they give is unbreakable .
And as far as movies go--I usually fall asleep in the theater--causing me to wake up in certain chance and have the strangest reactions. Snoozing away during Finding Nemo (Who wouldn't with four young children all quiet for an hour) I woke up during the part when Bruno the whale's face--smiling with all his pointy teeth showing--was filling the whole scream and let out the loudest most terrified scream of my life, just let 'er rip (I've always been terrified of sharks) and mortified my children. The whole auditorium was laughing -at/with me- for the rest of the movie, and even in the parking lot after, .....I think a few tears are just fine!

Maureen DeLuca | 158 comments H'mmm- Ok - I'll give this a shot

1. My birthday - December 31st , 1959- I was born 1 minute before the new year- the last baby to be born at that hospital- (Oceanside, NY

2. I am 3rd generation flight attendant - My TOTAL time with the airlines was 30 years- the last 23 was flying.

3. Between the ages of 15-17 I got to see Elvis Presley-at the Las Vegas Hilton- back in the good old days there was a dinner show and midnight show- and a few times Elvis would even put on a 3rd show. I saw him a total of 13 times.- 6 white jumpsuits, 2 black jumpsuits, 3 blue jumpsuits and 2 red jumpsuits.

4. I am an over the top Tennis Fan- For 10 years I got VIP seats for the Australian Open in Melbourne- for the full 2 weeks ! I also saw the 1991 French Open semi-finals and finals- 1993 Wimbledon semi finals and finals- I've been to the US Open numerous times- but never had the 'connections' to see any semi-finals or finals-

5. Other than Elvis- one of the most AMAZING talents is Frank-as in Sinatra- I got to see him, also in Las Vegas- 10 times. 8 out of those 10 times I was with my mother-the best memories that I have of her, with me and Frank-Priceless!

6. I was married briefly for 2 years - to an amazing man. He was killed at the young age of 35. We never had the opportunity to have children- and I never remarried after his death-

7. I have been to 6 of the 7 continents- I never got to Antarctica, oh well !

8. My days of airports, and airplanes are OVER!! Nothing to do with what is going on in today's world- I have been traveling since I was an baby (mom was airlines) I have ZERO desire to see an airport- and to get in a plane and go anywhere! If anyone wants to see me - I have 2 guest bedrooms - other than that - Just not going to do it. I now do an amazing amount of reading - inside or outside by my pool-!!

9. I love wine and grey goose martini's .

I'm astonished at your travel history! Don't blame you for wanting to stay put. Did you have some favorite places?

message 386: by Maureen (new)

Maureen DeLuca | 158 comments Perri- H'mmm that is a hard one, I guess it is like asking someone who is your favorite child or grandchild or your favorite cat or dog!!

..... every place that I went to always carried some interest to me. Traveling abroad I got to see some many wonderful cities- just by being work related and then having a 2 day layover in that city. I can say going to Africa for the safari- riding a camel and seeing the great pyramids , going to Israel, and seeing the northern lights were things that I never would have experienced if I hadn't been an airline employee. For going to these places , traveling in the comfort of first class, first class hotels and rates - I doubt I'd would have been able to afford any of those things!

Nevada, California, Alaska, Montana, Utah, Texas, Arizona, Wyoming, Hawaii are just a few of the US states that I would love to visit for vacation time. (All of my airline career life I lived in Long Island, NY)

Many millions of miles on this body of mine.... now , when I hop in my car- I barely do 5 miles in a round trip- my bike I ride maybe 4 miles a day- around my neighborhood - and during the warm weather maybe 30-40 feet from my chair to my backyard pool AND I LOVE IT....

Sarah Hi Everyone,
Have really been enjoying reading everyone's facts about themselves so thought I'd give it a go. Here goes;

1. I am a keen surfer although having a 'encounter' with a shark deterred me for a while, I'm back in the water.

2. I live at the foot of a mountain but am only 30min from the beach. (I live in Melbourne Australia)

3. I love to paint. Favorite artist is Slava Ilyayav.

4. I've volunteered for the Special Olympics.

5. Cant decide which is my favourite place, its a 3 way tie between Galway, Ireland, Costa Rica (Jaco & Arenal) & Dalat, Vietnam.

6. I have a Golden Retriever named Castiel. He is the worst retriever ever (has not once fetched a ball or stick) but is the cutest, most loving dog so that's ok with me.

7. I love adrenaline sports and have broken many bones trying them out. Most recently I broke my toe Canyoning.

8. I have a large family. I am the oldest grandchild of 24 on my mums side. Second youngest of 16 on my dads side. Christmas is hectic!

9. I've recently started Yoga and loving it.

10. My ideal job would be casting agent or wine & cheese taster.

I would sometimes be missing grades because she would record different things under the wrong name. The name she did use for me, oddly enough, was consistent. After graduating high school I went back to see her. She was so excited to see me, but of course, she called my by the name she had always remembered rather than the name that was mine.
