Wow. You've lived an interesting life so far Ginger. We are so happy to have you here.

Sashana, yeah, I figured it was the Knightley version but I didn't realize it came out that long ago!

Is the paralysis permanent? I looked up your condition and they said surgery or therapy may be done, but I'm guessing sometimes it might not help?
Ginger also said," 6. I met the love of my through Counter Strike. I moved half way across the country to be with him."
You met him playing an online game? That is unusual. I always like hearing the unusual way people meet. I take it they have chat rooms?
Ginger said, "5. I have no memory of my childhood. "
That sounds difficult. Did you have all your more current memories? Were you able to remember people? I've known a couple of people with similar accidents/injuries (not the vocal), one in High school and one in College. One lost all her school learning. She was a senior in High School. She was about as smart as they come prior to the accident. She was a couple years ahead of me and I always wondered how she did. I know she graduated, but I don't know if she had to relearn things. The other was the sister of one of the guys who lived on my floor in College. She fared better, she retained her knowledge, but it took her longer to get the answers. I'm sure it was frustrating. As far as I know neither had their hearts stop after the accidents. I guess your doctors really knew what they were doing. I'm glad you're here.

1. Yes, it's permanent. It's been almost 12 years. The initial damage to my body was pretty ridiculous. I broke everything from my waist up (excluding my spine and neck) They intubated me b/c my lungs were collapsed. The intubation was what paralyzed my chords...but (later) exploratory surgery discovered slight scarring that is preventing my vocal folds from closing all the way. I COULD have a full voice if I got colagen injections every 3 months. But the thought of someone sticking a needle in my throat is enough to make me want to throw up. So... I'll just settle for my "less than loud", sultry, marilyn monroe-sexy voice. lol
2. Yes, we met playing an online game. WE were friends for a long time (2 years) and then one day... he decided he wanted meet me. I think meeting online creates an opportunity to get to know someone for who they REALLY are. There's no physical attraction to overcome. I already knew I enjoyed his talking to him and knew we had tons in common. It was easy :)
3. I remember people. I (strangely enough) remember telephone numbers. I remember going places with family and friends...but not waht we did there. Major events are completely gone. Graduation, Prom, homecoming.... I only know what I've seen in pictures and videos. It's wierd for me sometimes. I always wonder if I'm staring to remember...or if I've just convinced myself I have after seeing pictures or hearing stories. But... it's not difficult. I mean...how can I miss something that I can't remember? right? =\

Shots are for the birds. I had my finger pricked @ every meal time for 3 months (while i was in the hospital) to check my glucose levels. I had blood drawn every morning and night O_o Needles are the devil.

@Sweet Tea after I moved from Texas, that's the only thing I miss. California does not do sweet tea justice!

1. I don't have a leader mentality. I'd much rather be the person who makes the other person lo..."
Hey Lisa... Sad song for me. A girl in our school got hit by a car last year and didn't make it. It was an awful year. Many losses. Our principal read the lyrics for this song at a memorial assembly to describe the girl and her situation. Any time I hear this song I start to tear up. Yea, the lyrics are beautiful... :'(
I was standing by the ocean... and I did feel small.

1) When I'm overly excited (very happy/angry) my eyes turn from hazel green to green.
When I'm being mischievous, my eyes twinkle.
2) When I'm embarrassed or angry, my entire face blushes along with my neck and chest.
3) When I'm feeling vulnerable or uncomfortable, I tuck my thumbs into the palms of my hands to protect them.
4) I get jerk away if anyone touches my fingernails or toenails and I jump if it happens with socks. I then have to tuck my fingers and toes to protect them. Just the thought gives me shivers.
5) When I'm lounging around, I feel guilty for wasting time. This doesn't stop me from lazying around all day, but adds to my guilt.
6) I find clean sheets on a freshly made bed very romantic (not in a R rated way). I feel the need to sit in my middle of the fresh bed and write in a notebook with a heavy grade pencil.
7) I need earplugs to sleep when my bedroom door is left open.
8) When the phone rings, my first thought is that its bad news.
9) I love to make lists for everything. I rewrite the lists until they're organizational and aesthetic perfection. When the list is finalized, I regret that I didn't type it into a spreadsheet.
and
10) I believe that crows/ravens are somehow connected to spirits. If one is near by, I plaster a fake smile on my face, think happy thoughts, and back away quietly.

It's nice to have you Angie! Those are my thoughts too... I am also always thinking that the phone is for me, but it hardly ever is.

1. I do not get up before 2PM if I do not have to.
2. I love to drive on road trips and go on vacations in general.
3. I have been to Vegas more times than I can count on two hands, but not once since I turned 21. :p I have been on 5? 6? cruises to the Caribbean and want to go again one day.
4. I do not believe in religion or God anymore. I am Agnostic and I am not sure when this exactly happened. After 11 years of having the Bible preached to me unwillingly, it was bound to happen. With that said, I respect everyone and their religious beliefs until you start to preach. Oh, and please, never ask me to go to church with you. Nothing aggravates me more.
5. I love dogs and hate cats.
6. Mexican food is amazing.
7. I LOVE to read. I do not know what I will do as my eyes get older and they make reading tough.
8. I am getting my education degree, but do not plan on teaching for more than 15-20 years. I want to do social work or get into the medical field.
9. I would love to be a "big time" book editor...just do not know how to get there.
10. People watching is my favorite pastimes. You see and meet some interesting people, but more often than not, just a crap load of dumb people.
11. I am obviously practical and speak my mind, but I can be sensitive, forgiving, and know when to keep my mouth and mind mute.
12. I will rarely talk to anybody unless they speak to me first.
13. I have been in the same relationship for almost five years now. Was my first ever and hopefully will be my last. I am still head-over-heels for Trey!
14. They say you marry your father. I have beaten and disproven those odds. If I hadn't, I would be arguing with Trey as we speak sporting two black eyes and a bottomed- out self esteem/image.
15. Credit card debt has claimed another victim. One day I will be free.
16. I try to live for the moment and do not let much get under my skin. Even the rough times can be smooth if you approach it the right way.
17. I am a light sleeper to the point that I can hear a pen be dropped in the living room and be wide awake.
18. 75% of the night I sleep on the couch. My bed mate is a hot box, bed and cover hogger, and snores...lucky me.
19. I dream of owning my own house one day and a car that I have picked out entirely on my own. Thanks to mom for always helping out and buying me cars and helping with payments, but I want MY own!
20. I am terribly homesick all the time and find it a big mistake moving out here, especially after my PawPaw died on December 31, 2009. I feel so far away from my family.
21. I can not imagine my mother leaving us one day. She is my rock and everything I want to be.
22. I do not have many girl friends and those I do have are considerably older than me. Over 10 years to be exact. I do not like girls my age. They all need to lose the pigtails and grow up. The friends I do have my age are different than me in every way but have learned responsibility and know the value of a hard earned dollar.
23. Both my knees are whack, my vision is good, but not what it should be for 22 years old, and I have carpel tunnel in my right wrist. It is screaming at me right now. Damn you computer, it is all your fault!
24. I dream of having a library in my home one day. Should not be hard to accomplish since I will be an English teacher.
25. Love me or hate me, I do not care. I do not live to please you.

9. Maybe you can try getting an internship at a small publishing company first. Then you can work your way up and get a feel for what you’re supposed to be doing.
15. I’m only 17 but I watch Suze Orman religiously. She knows her stuff! For graduation I’m getting all my friends The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke.I also have a digital copy of On My Own Two Feet: A Modern Girl's Guide to Personal Finance, I can email you a copy if you'd like. I swear, if I didn't hate math so much I would be a financial advisor.

I'm not sure why I picked ED over social work. I think that it has to do a lot with my passion for reading. I want to try my best to instill that in every student that passes through my door! There are so many things I want to do/be: nursing, a medical examiner, a teacher, a social worker, a foster parent, a librarian, a principal, an editor, a reading specialist, a child psychologist... I guess I just had to start somewhere! lol.
