Beata (beatae) I know everyone is always saying "If you liked The Hunger Games..." But I honestly think that The Darkest Minds and Angelfall would really appeal to Hunger Games fans. Divergent had pretty mixed reviews, but is certainly worth a shot. Some other books I liked are:

City of Bones, Clockwork Angel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, The Lightning Thief, War Horse, Legend

April H | 3 comments Brush of Shade (The Whisperer's Chronicles, #1) by Jan Harman I highly recommend the book Brush of Shade by Jan Harman. I absolutely loved it!!! I was so tired of books about vampires and werewolves and this book was an answer to my searches.
This is a clip from the Facebook page:
Secrets, hidden chambers, and an ancestor’s alliance propel Olivia into a world where voices are both weapons and instruments of comfort.

I can't decide which one of these The Last Princess (Last Princess, #1) by Galaxy Craze , Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls, #1) by Tera Lynn Childs , Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver to read first. I only need 3 more books to reach my 2013 goal and would I would love to hear what you think.

Jenna Walker (jennareklaw) I recently read a book called In the After In the After (In the After #1) by Demitria Lunetta its gonna be a series and it is very good.

Also there seems to be a lack of good YA mystery books. Most of them are fantasy, which is great but a mixture is good. I recommend you guys read I hunt Killers I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1) by Barry Lyga and Game Game (Jasper Dent #2) by Barry Lyga .

And of course everything book ive read by Neal Shusterman has been really good.

message 171: by Nicole (new)

What about The Inheritance Cycle? The lead is a male, however there are strong female characters in it as well.

message 178: by Haily (last edited Dec 28, 2013 06:59PM) (new)

Haily Claire (hailyhay) Emperoor's Edge by Lindsay Buroker. Sooooo good! Although, the author's self published, so you kinda need an ereader of some sort, but on the upside, the first one's free. For the record, it's not really YA, but it's still really good.

message 179: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea B | 179 comments I feel like a lot of people are saying this but The Darkest Minds series is amazing!

Devon Ashley (devonashley) | 10 comments I recommend the series The Clann by Melissa Darnell. It's a Romeo/Juliet inspired paranormal where a girl's girl was kicked out of her magical community because she was born to a Clann member and a vampire, and now the poor girl craves the blood of her love interest, who's also a Clann member. Very angsty. :)LOVE IT!

message 196: by Genevieve (new)

Genevieve Griffin (genevievegriffin) | 2 comments I just finished re-reading Tamsin by Peter S. Beagle , which I love dearly -- easily my favorite ghost story, with tremendously relatable characters and a tangible sense of place.

And if you'll forgive a self-plug while I'm at it, werewolf fans might want to give Stronger Than Blood by Genevieve J. Griffin a spin. :)
