I've read WWII and Victorian settings, but other periods seem harder to find.
Thank you!

2 of them I would specifically love to mention.
Whistlin' Dixie - A Tempered Steel Novel is a beautiful love story, first in the series of books. If you like to read love stories pertaining to one family, then this one is for you. Check my review of Whistlin' Dixie and let me know how you find it.
Another one is a tremendous book, one I would love to spread word across the globe if possible. The Dream Shelf is also a love story. But the love story here is of a child to their parent. An amazing book with a beautiful story. Check out my review of The Dream Shelf and prepare to be amazed by Jeff Russell

The whole story does not take place in the past, but you get good chunks of it (late 1800's in the first book and early 1900's in the second). Really awesome series, I highly recommend them.

Try the Arrow's Flight series: Breeder

For romance and creepy suspense:All the Truth That's in Me

For romance and laughs:The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

I love everything that's fantasy, so I was excited to see someone do something so different with it. Definitely a mustread.
Sadly, it's only available on Kindle.

1.) The Fault in Our Stars
2.) The Book Thief
3.) The Selection

try elemental series, my sister's keeper or the mortal instruments.........

I would totally recommend Legend by Marie Lu Legend or The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken The Darkest Minds legend is the more dystopian of the 2. The darkest minds is truly amazing and hits you in the feels. Both are great so I suggest reading them both. 2 of my favorite series of 2014 :)

The infernal devices would also be a PERFECT trilogy to read! I hope you like them

So suspenseful you'll read them all in one sitting!
No Safety in Numbers

The first is All the Broken Pieces by Cindi Madsen. This story ought to make people think, regardless of age, and is an intriguing book.

The second is Cuts Run Deep by Amber Garza. This story is an urgent must read for teens and parents, especially. It's real, with issues teens deal with in reality, and has flawed characters. There is so much depth and a lot to talk about, I recommend Cuts Run Deep for all book clubs, as well.

Two new series (Both by first time authors I think) Both books have very unusual and fascinating worlds.
The Goblin Emperor

The Glass Sentence

A Monster Calls is NOT childish. It is unforgettable! Destined to be a classic.

Have you read: Daughter of Smoke & Bone

Days of Blood and Starlight

Dreams of Gods & Monsters

Have you read: Daughter of Smoke & Bone, with characters having the ability to walking into others' dreams aka "dreamwalking".
P.S: Daughter of Smoke & Bone is toally a MUST-READ!

Dreamwalking? I'm thinking that The Diviners by Libba Bray would be a good one for you. And following the DOSAB recommendation from above, you should read The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey out this April! They've got the same vibe going, in my opinion and you might enjoy that.

So recommendations would be lovely!
