Bahahaha! I am a child of the 80's too and that song is PERFECT!

Seriously, if Trent & Rachel don't tear each other's clothes off and make some (long overdue) whoopee in this book.....well, I can't be held responsible for my actions LOL.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments I totally concur with all of the above, sexy elf times must happen in this book, or Ms. Kim will have a riot on her hands I think. :P

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments I've got no doubts whatsoever that they'll be doing it. None at all.

Virginia (vleighh) | 2 comments VampireNovelFan wrote: "I've got no doubts whatsoever that they'll be doing it. None at all."

I'm right there with you! I think all signs point to YES, which is a relief for someone who's been rooting for them to get together since the first book.

GAH. Why so long to wait? :(

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments Doesn't "tup" mean British slang for "intercourse"? Coincidence?

LOL - I thought that too, Regina, when I typed it the first time. And if it does mean that in British-speak, then let's hope it is *not* a coincidence!

Bring on the tupping / shagging / whoopee-making! :P

Janice, have I ever told you that I have a deep respect for the way your mind works? ;)

Oh, I know. But my heart stopped in anger because I hate when authors do that stuff (BIG events behind the scenes). Thankfully we find the dating hasnt officially started so we wont miss it.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Melody wrote: "I think not wanting Ellasbeth on the grounds has something to do with her attempt to assassinate Rachel in Trouble on Reserve. Trent knew it was happening, and tried to save Rachel without telling ..."

This struck my mind too, although Rachel may not be aware of it.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments I'm not totally clear on Ellasbeth's reasoning for hiring assassins to kill Rachel. Just to get her out of Trent's way? Seems a little extreme/ crazy-pants to me, after Rachel helped get her daughter back from the EA and all.
Do we know that for sure yet what the motivation was (did Ms. Harrison confirm it somewhere) or was it just hinted about in TOR? I'm wondering if I've missed something somewhere... and now I have to go back and re-read TOR. :)

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments Ellasbeth is not a nice person. Even if Rachel did help Lucy, that wouldn't stop her if Rachel was in the way of her plans.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I think she's threatened by Rachel, thinking something may develop between her and Trent and doesn't want, as Vampire Novel Fan said, someone to interfere with her plans of reuniting with him and the marriage going through.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments I just re-read TOR, and it sounds like Rachel thinks Cormel is behind the assassins. And possibly Trent thinks it's Ellasbeth?
I'm still not sure she's that ruthless/nutso, but I'm assuming it'll come out in the next book either way. :)

Veronica (readingonthefly) Kim confirmed on her site that it was Ellasbitch who hired the assassins. Let's not forget that her own mother ended up helping Trent get away with Lucy because she knew she'd be better off with him. She said that she'd never seen Lucy smile and that Ellasbitch had enough dolls. That says a lot about her as a person if her own mother feels that way about her. She knows that Trent has feelings for Rachel and might pose an obstacle to her plans to draw Trent back into a political marriage. The Withons lost Lucy fair and square according to elf tradition so the only way for her to have any power as the elves move forward would be as Trent' s wife.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Veronica G. wrote: "Kim confirmed on her site that it was Ellasbitch who hired the assassins. Let's not forget that her own mother ended up helping Trent get away with Lucy because she knew she'd be better off with h..."
K, so it's definitely Ellasbeth then. You would think that would be a bit of a turn off for Trent, and put the kibosh on his plans to marry the b*tch. Of course, he's had a few people offed too, so maybe he's cool with it?
Does anyone think that he could still go through with the marriage? I say no... But maybe he's using the idea of it to try and make Rachel a bit jealous?
Also, Trent and Ellasbeth seem to have a joint custody arrangement now, which sort of creeps me out given how horrible a mom she is - but I guess that's why Quen is there for her visits.

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) | 10 comments Ellasbeth having contact with the wee ones skeeves me out, too. She's so cold. And Quen's hardly in the right frame of mind to help just now...Poor babies:(

message 68: by Desertlass (last edited Sep 27, 2013 08:37PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Desertlass How often does Trent choose duty over desire? That's what has me worried. I can't see Rachel married to Trent and I can't see her settling for being his mistress. Where does that leave us?

wayword_witch | 24 comments Rachel first plan of action? Turn to Al for advice. Love it!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Oh good grief love advice from Al over Trent lol, wouldn't that be classic. I can't picture Rachel married but who knows, perhaps one day. Mistress no way. Trent takes his duties seriously so I think he's torn. He's waiting for a cue from Rachel I think.

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments Trent is on the cover. It leaves us with Kim figuring things out some way or another or else it's total false advertising.

I like your thinking VNF. A couple on the cover, even if one is set forward, says romance to readers, yes?

wayword_witch | 24 comments Sorry, should tagged my post as random comment, lol. I meant for advice about the magic problem. Later, I though about how that would sound in the middle of the night and had a good laugh at myself.

Mellifluous | 41 comments I have read a few comments about the kitchen scene post, but what about the excerpt where Rachel(?) is scribing something onto a bottle? Is there anyone else that is tying themselves into knots trying to work out where that particular scene is going to fit it?

I agree with you both. The fact that Trent is on the cover leads me to believe that Kim (and Trent) will find a way out of any political marriage. I think that Trent is waiting for Rachel to give him a definitive sign that he is who she wants long term. I think that's why he's stalling Ellasbitch with the switching off the girls every few months. He's biding his time...

If Rachel were to tell him "no" then Trent would go ahead and resign himself to a loveless marriage. That doesn't sound like a HEA for Trent and I can't see Kim doing that to him after all this time. Plus, that would be rewarding THAT WOMAN by giving her what she wants (and doesn't deserve!)...and I can't see that happening either.

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) | 10 comments THAT WOMAN indeed! lol

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Looks like the first few ARC reviews are posted!!
I'm super-jealous of those that have already read the book, and I'm equally super-excited by the "OMG IT'S AWESOME" tone of their reviews! :)
Sounds like it's going to be 100% a great read, woohoo!
Anyone else in full-on "must-have-ARC-NOW" scheming mode or is it just me??

I'm avoiding them as I don't want to see any spoilers, and as much as I trust some reviewers (like VNF) not to spoil, I just don't think they'll be able to completely disguise their giddiness if the sexah happened. I'll just *know* :)

Mae Padua-janusas | 26 comments Where do I go to read reviews from the ARC peeps?! I don't care about spoilers...yes I'm one of those lol!!! I'll still read it and I'm sure 100% sure I'll love it like all the other books lol!!!

Veronica (readingonthefly) Mae wrote: "Where do I go to read reviews from the ARC peeps?! I don't care about spoilers...yes I'm one of those lol!!! I'll still read it and I'm sure 100% sure I'll love it like all the other books lol!!!"

Mae, I don't think there are any full reviews out yet...or at least I haven't seen any. Mostly people are just saying that they read the ARC, briefly saying how they felt about it, and promising a full review later.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments I hear you Lynsey. :)
But I have zero willpower, so I'm totally scrutinizing the giddiness of the early reviews to try and extrapolate the likelihood of Rachel/Trent nookie in TUP!

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Mae - There aren't really spoilers in the ARC reviews so far, just people saying how they feel about the book. That said, if you wanna check them out go to the book's Goodreads page and sort the reviews to the newest ones. :)

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments I'm done with the book but for the sake of my own collection I've been posting a few of my favorite quotes in my status that I don't think are too spoilery, and I'm not quite done yet.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Are they a tease? Yup :P. But I don't think it's much more than something you'd get out of Kim for instance. I have my share of quotes that are outright spoilers too (because so much of this book is damned re-readable), but of course I'll keep those to myself until the book's out. *sigh*

And I'm not planning to post my full review until much closer to release time.

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments These two songs happened to play on my commute home today and I think they fit TUP pretty well...

Don't Let Go - En Vogue - http://youtu.be/5Kih3XKF_Mw

*sobs*
Can't We Try - Dan Hill & Vonda Shepard - http://youtu.be/vAjrMuhOc0Y

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments I remember that En Vogue song and the movie it was for, Set it Off.

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments @VNF I totally forgot it was from that movie! It really reminded me of Rachel's own struggle...

The lyrics to "can't we try" really reminded me of Rachel's relationship and a particularly emotional chapter...

:)

Veronica (readingonthefly) Ah, the eighties.... ;)

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments Hehe, I grew up in the 80s/90s... Love the music but, alas, no laptops with skype back then :D

I know that now and I have been watching your posts and website so thanks, I do have the faith! I just wish it was February already! I even re-bought GBU just for Chapter 2 and yes it left me wanting MORE!
You did a great UDP early review without giving away anything for those who like to wait. GREAT JOB!@

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments LOL. Thanks! It's not easy!

Mellifluous | 41 comments Are we good to discuss Chapter 2 here or do we need to wait? I would love to know what people thought about it... I have just read it and I think I am going to expire if I don't get to read some more before February. I am hoping that Harper are going to release a few more chapters before Feb as well... They have done that for the last few books at least.

I will discuss Ch. 2. If that guy is really Kisten, I wonder if a love triangle is going to form now!? I wonder what Rachel will do?
